"Quite well," he replied softly, tenderly grooming her mane while they laid together. His tail laid gently over her own, rather akin to holding hands. "Are you hungry?"

"A little." Eyes closing, she reveled in the quiet attention. It felt so nice, particularly when he teased her mane. "No more sea oats. I think I outdid myself." She smiled lightly, rubbing her cheek to his neck.

"Hmm, alright then," he replied, using his tail to straighten out her wing feathers. "What are you in the mood for?" Personally Toshiro wouldn't mind just lying here all day with her, but realistically that would be happening. They'd have to get up eventually, one way or the other. Still, at least he had the luxury of enjoying her company.

"Hmmm." She breathed in his scent, co-mingling now with the stronger scent of the boughs above them. They'd made temporary shelter in some felled trees, and it was perfect. The grass beneath them soft. Softer still from leaves and branches they'd found. "Perhaps something sweet...? What do you think?"

"Sweet? Hmm..." Toshiro contemplated this for a moment, continuing the grooming in the meantime. "I could look for some fruit if you would like. I believe there were some bushes with berries not too far away from here. There's also those giant brown nuts we tried on the beach that one time. I remember the insides were white and quite sweet," he suggested.

"The nuts might be easiest," she smiled. "I'll join you? Perhaps we can take a walk." Still, she would rather stay here in the warmth, Toshiro beside her. Then again, there was plenty of time for that later. Stretching lightly, she fought the urge to simply bed down once more. It was far too comfortable here in this place.

"Sure thing," Toshiro replied, slowly getting up from the spot where he lay and shaking out his mane as he did so. He lowered his head and gave Kindle a light nudge with his nose. "Do you need help getting up?"

With a gentle shake of her head, she pushed herself up, stifling a small groan. So he's noticed, too. Disheartened, she glanced at the slight bulge in her belly from the corner of her eye, then cleared her throat daintily, too polite to question or mention the remark. Too much good food. Good food. It was almost unfair. Maybe a little run down the beach later. Pawing the grass, she gave a light stretch. "There we are."

Toshiro frowned a bit as he noticed the way that Kindle looked at herself. She didn't seem to quite realize what was going on, but how could he bring it up to her without possibly insulting her in the process. Well, I should at least give it a try, he reasoned. Better then letting her think otherwise. The stallion cleared his throat before starting. "Say, Kindle, um, how much do you know about reproduction?" There. Fairly straight-forward, and without any accidental insults along the way.

His words drew her attention away from her growing belly. "Hmm? Reproduction?" She frowned thoughtfully, glancing out the small entrance, her brow creased. "Hmm, like children? Offspring, right?" She'd seen plenty of small birds, small fishes. Even small deer or predators.

"Mhm," Toshiro replied, contemplating on how to proceed forward with this. "Are you familiar with how it works with our kind?" Come to think about it, he had yet to ever really ask her about her past, so he was unsure if she had ever been in a herd or not. In which case she may have never heard of pregnancy.

"I know that there are eggs." She nodded firmly. She had seen those often enough. And the resulting tiny bundles of fluff. "And that our young hatch from those eggs." But from the confused look she was giving him, it was unlikely she had seen another pregnant mare. Or that she understood that that's what was happening to her own belly.

Toshiro nodded, figuring that this was a close enough link to tell her with. The stallion stepped over by her side and gently nudged the growing belly. "Kindle, I believe you are carrying eggs in you. You're pregnant."

Kindle blinked once, then twice. "I-... it can't be." She bit back the soft sound of content that threatened to escape as he nuzzled into her. "Toshiro- I mean.. are we even ready...?"
