Daskri grinned up at her, nodding silently as she spoke of snacks and her friend. "Hee hee, you must have some big friend waiting out there then, if he can protect the place so well like you say" he was greatful for the feeling of safety though, the offer of such a great protection, hidden away in a secret beautiful grotto..not to mention the option to paint such a wide perfect canvas! How could he possibly turn such a wonderful chance down?
"Thank you lady zahara..I hope you enjoy your snack!" he smiled thankfully hoping he would be hungry by time she got back, eyes going back to the wall before him walking past the constellation and away from her gaze as he seemed to size things up. Chewing on the end of his magical paintbrush the bristle tips seeming to change color with his thoughts, eventually settling on a dark golden shade..

Shaking her head at the twilif's complete absorption in the wall of bare rock, Zahara allowed herself to dissipate into sparkles of light and zoom off in search of a midday meal.

Daskri mal barely noticed zaharas absence, his attention fully on the blank canvas in front of him, that large flat rock wall, so much space and so many ideas. The color of the brush settling for a moment, a deep violet, daskri hovered for a moment head tilted to the side curiously before he dragged the tip across the rough surface.
The paint seemed to take on a life of its own, spreading to the whim of its wielder, the dark purple sinking into a near black color as it spread upwards, flowing along the length of the base of the rock. Daskri frowned and pulled his brush away, the color fading back into bright violet hues. He grinned and added in highlights, blurring the colors together, everything shifting into gold.
Halfway done and it was a lake, vivid and fantasy like, the water all shades of purple, the bank where the water ended was a dark black. He hummed to himself glancing further up before speckling in bits of gold, letting what was becoming a sunset start to reflect across the purple water's... "Hee hee..I'll make it a solar eclipse!" he purred to himself, the idea seemed odd, but maybe it would work..

Feeling guilty, Zahara pushed herself to go faster. She didn't think she'd ever gotten to the village that quickly! But it really was not the season for the fruits that grew around her home, so she would have to purchase her food and she'd get something for her guest as well... she was so rude to leave, but her stomach had been about to start making audible noises! How rude would that have been?
Besides, she tried in vain to soothe herself, Daskri Mal has had a terrible morning. Something sweet always appeals!
While carrying food, she couldn't travel in her fastest form, so she was glad she had made such incredible speed arriving at the village!

Daskri Mal sat back with a small muffled giggle, gently nibbling on the end of his paint brush stuck in his mouth. Wide expressive bluegreen eyes glued to the towering wall of rock before him, full of awe and joy. It was perfect..well as near perfect as he could come to making it, the vision painted across the wall matching that in his head with only a few minor oopsies here and there. Still no one else had to know about those right? After all it was only in his head..
A lake lay at the bottom, a mix of dark sunset hues that slowly shimmered out into gold ripples. Meeting a pitch black shore, covered in shrubbery and low cut trees. Above it all lay the sky, golden to match the lake in nearly a mirror image, and even more odd the moon. Emblazoned from behind, not black or white but a harvest type of orange, the sun behind it creating a shadowy backdrop.
He'd had no clue of the passage of time, and really couldn't have been bothered to care. He was somehow messy all over again, though this time it was a much more pleasant kind of mess, covered in paint splatters that were slowly drying, the ground around where he stood facing the same treatment, smears of dark colors across the ground where he'd stood. The little blond headed twilif tilted his head to the side, remembering vaguely zahara..so sweet of her to let him do this...so nice...he wondered if she'd like it..he hoped. Not that he was the simpering type who would be so easily dejected by negative criticism, but still he hoped she liked it! All the better to make someone happy then to make them frown.
Laying back with a small sniff and an exhausted sigh daskri closed his eyes, tingling from head to toe with what he assumed was good feeling warmth. He'd finally completed something..Something of worth, something of note, even if no one but zahara would see it, still he was so very glad to have been given the wonderful opportunity. The twilif curled up on himself for a moment, dozing off with paintbrush in hand. Not noticing as the warmth increased, a shimmering glow overtaking his form for a few long moments.

Some time later, when Zahara returned to her home, she was shocked immobile by the stunning scene that had been painted on the rock face. The colors all but breathed, she thought she might be able to walk into the painting. Such talent was bottled within the oddly charming twilif!
Slowly recovering from her near-trance, she was glad she had asked the food seller to put her and Daskri Mal's meal in a sack... she had dropped it when she stopped to stare. Looking around to locate the conspicuously-absent twilif, Zahara spotted him and moved quietly towards the slowly-breathing ball of paint-spattered teal at the base of the cliff.
Poor boy must be exhausted from all... that---
Frozen once again by shock, Zahara found she could do nothing more than blink. Daskri Mal was asleep at the base of his painting... but he was a twilif no longer. As she watched, the newly-ascended Constellation shivered slightly and curled further in on himself. The movement of the sun had flooded the sunny grotto with cool shadows as the afternoon shifted toward twilight. Blonde hair flowed and trailed over the ground around him and he would easily stand taller than she was now. His markings glowed brighter and seemed to pulse with his breath. Not other major changes were readily apparent and Zahara felt rude gawking at Daskri Mal as he slept.
Bemused with the both of them now, Zahara shook her head as a grin crept over her features. She drew the energy of the remaining light into the air around her and wove a dome-like shield of warmth over the sleeping Daskri Mal. Leaving the sack of food she had brought him where he would easily see it upon waking, she turned with her own meal and wandered back toward her waterfall; still shaking her head and laughing intermittently.
She was glad to have met Daskri Mal this day. He really was such a perfectly, wonderfully odd creature.
