Vidya watched the younger boy intently, squeaking a bit when it looked like Armel was about to go under...but luckily, that never happened, and the blue girl relaxed. Watching the other treading water to keep himself afloat made her swell with a sense of pride...what she was teaching was being used! Yay!
When he swam towards her, she congradulated him and urged him to swim to his Dad, and eventually the two had him swimming from one to the other, and what was better was that with each distance between friend and family, he was improving! Vidya clapped her hands above the water once Armel stopped between them. "Yes, you did! You're doing so well, I'm so happy for you!" Having been complimented, she looked over at Pales and giggled sheepishly. "Kyaaah...Thank you! Its my first time teaching someone...but it really helps to have a good student!" She admitted, grinning at Armel for the last portion.
"D'you wanna try something else? Er...Something that'd help you swim under the water?" She posed the question to Armel, easing foreward in the water to glide towards her friend.

Pales just smiled at Vidya and nodded, "He is a very good student. Patient so long as the teacher seems competent I think." Pales shrugged, "Also depends if he is interested and wants to learn."
He watched the pair interact falling silent, he waded a bit toward them in case Viddy needed someone to demonstrate visually for her again.
"Aye, I think I'd like t'learn that. Swimmin' is fun." Armel nodded entusedly. He was having great fun learning from the older Tale. She seemed to know a great deal about this swimming.

Vidya beamed at Pales once more. So many compliments...! This made her very happy, though also a smidgen embarassed. Brushing her soaked bangs away from her face, she drew her attention back to the younger tale as he agreed to learn more. "Oh good! I'm so glad! Okay, you know how to tread water and doggy paddle...and you can doggy paddle under water, but its a little harder, so I'm gonna teach you one more thing before holding your breath under water, okay?" Once given the okay, Vidya stood where Armel could see her.
"I'm not to sure what this is called...I think its the breast stroke but uh...don't quote me on that, 'kay? Anyway! You have to move both your arms and legs in somewhat different patterns, so it might take a bit to get used to." Making sure he was watching her, Vidya put her hands together, palm to palm. Then, demonstrating slowly above the water, she pressed the heels of her hands against her chest and pushed them outwards, waiting until they were stretched out infront of her before turning her hands so the palms faced away from eachother, then pulling her arms into seperate arcs, and back to her sides. "Kinda like that, only you have to repeat it how fast you want to...oh, and when you're in the water, it'd be closer to your neck than chest" She added, tapping her finger against her chin. "I suppose you can just kick your feet when you do it, though...but its also easier to move like this." Pushing herself to float on her back, she demonstrated by pulling her knees up towards her torso, then doing a slight arc with her knees as she kicks her feet outwards. Unlike last time, she forgot to hold herself back, and accidentally propelled herself backwards a bit.
"Ack...Whoops!" Giggling sheepishly, she swam back to Armel, remembering to use the technique she was trying to teach her younger friend.

Pales smiled back at Vidya and splashed the palms of his hands against the water surface. Just letting Armel do what he needed. He had long ago figured out that he shouldn't coddle the boy. For one it got on Armel's nerves, and for another it didn't help matters at all.
Armel studied Vidya carefully paying no mind to Pales unless the man demonstrated something of use. He giggled slightly at Vidya's unintentional propelling, which it was a little odd to hear him giggle.
"Okay! Got it m'thinks." He announced and then set himself up to try.
As usual first couple of tries were clumsy, like the legs kicked out of synch with his arm movements, or he'd forget to move his arms or his legs. After a while though he had nearly mastered it, swimming even into the slightly deeper part of the pool until Pales swam out and caught him and dragged him back.
"Not so fast Armel. We'll get in the deep waters soon enough." Pales said patiently to the glowering face.

Okay, Vidya was hearing things...did Armel just giggle...? Naah...it couldn't have been him! She'd never heard the boy giggle before, and if it really was him...well...It was SO CUTE! Giggling happily herself, she nodded as he confirmed he understood...or at least tried to, and then got herself ready for action should something go wrong. Hopefully that wouldn't happen.
Each time he fumbled, she was there to subtly correct him, making sure to avoid all-out help unless he asked, merely because Armel seemed that kind of person. Instead of rushing to him and pulling him out of the water, she pressed her hand under his chest (avoiding his angry scars) to keep him afloat, and tapped either his arms or legs to remind him to move them. When he did finally get it on his own, she left catching him to Pales, and instead clapped while gliding around in the water. "Yay Melly! Good job! Don't worry about the deep end just yet, though! It'd help to know how to hold your breath under water, ne?" She giggled, stroking towards the edge of the pool and hanging onto it, motioning for him to do the same.

Armel's glower melted away when Vidya cheered for him. Pales let him go over to Vidya when she waved Armel over. Pales took a more observatory position again, pretty much plasting all of his trust into the girl to teach his son. For some reason he figured it was as important for her as it was for Armel.
Armel swam up next to Vidya, using his skills he had up til' now learned with her, "Breath holdin' under water 'ey?" He replied as if it was no major thing, "Sounds kin'a hard." Armel observed with a slightly dubious tone to his voice. Though the way he behaved he had confidence in learning this particular skill as well, as after all he had learned all else with very little problem.
Pales smiled lightly, as he was in the shallow end he was able to easily to squat down and keep his head above water, simply relaxed for the moment. Vidya pretty much had control of it for the moment.

Pales was right, it was important to her! She was so proud of herself for being able to teach someone something for a change, rather than it being the other way around...so this was an important day for the half blind tale!
Vidya nodded slowly at Armel at the mention of holding one's breath under the water, shortly after though, she shrugged. "Its only hard if you panic...otherwise its really easy! You can hold your breath above water, can't you?" Vidya sucked in a deep breath and held it for a moment, though without puffing out her cheeks - she was just that good. Before she spoke, she exhaled. "Its kinda like holding your breath above the water, only its easier if you plug your nose before actually going under the water, that way it doesn't hurt."
She informed him, then looked at the ledge she was near. "Here, put your hand on the ledge so you can get back up quickly if you panic!" Naturally, she held onto it too...what kind of instructor would she be if she didn't do what she taught!? Vidya drew in a breath again and pinched her nose, holding it there and dunking her head underwater, holding it there for a few seconds before pulling herself back up, calmly drawing in another breath. "There, see?" As she spoke, she faught with her bangs, who seemed to have decided it would be funny to cover her eyes and stick there.

Armel nodded after watching her go through the action of holding one's breath, but he spoke to her when she came back up, "Aye, understood. I guess I try it now!" He filled his air with lungs, one and went to hold onto his nose as he used his other to hold onto the side of the pool. His cheeks puffed out somewhat comically but none the less he then went under. Armel held himself under for a little over 30 seconds before bursting back up with a gasping sound. He didn't seem traumatized or worried, instead he wore a grin, "I was under real long for m'first time!"
The boy seemed quite proud of himself for being able to stay under for 30 seconds, as for him it was quite impressive!

Vidya peered into the water once he submerged, taking now to softly chuckle at how strange he looked with puffed out cheeks. Setting that image mentally aside, she started counting by the traditional "One One Thousand, Two One thousand" method of counting the seconds before he came back up again. Wow...he was under for a long time! Impressed, she waited a little longer for him.
"Thirty One thousand!" She called out a little louder, having seen him pull himself towards the surface of the water. Naturally, the blue girl clapped happily for him at his accomplishment, pushing some of his hair from his face. "Over Thirty seconds! Wow Melly...are you sure you've never swam before?" Giggling, she leaned against the wall again, her arms over her head to grab the ledge of the pool behind her. "Now ya just gotta make sure you can do everything else you did today with one hand, and then you can do it under the water!" She informed him with a pleasant grin.

Armel grinned at Vidya's compliments. Such things coming from someone that was teaching him seemed to mean so much. It also helped that Vidya was sort of a peer and a friend as well. He liked learning things -- On his own terms. Swiming was one of those things. Then again, the ram-horned boy loved to learn in general.
"Aye, I am sure. First time in the pool ever," though even as he spoke a memory, that didn't seem quite his flashed in his mind. An older and unhorned version of himself was swimming about in a moonlit pond, but he brushed it aside, it wasn't him, where were the fiery-colored braids? It must have been something he had seen on television, a commercial perhaps. The young man had markings just like him his mind insisted, and he stubbornly pushed the thought out of his mind. He wouldn't allow that to ruin his swimming lesson with Viddy.
"I hope I can..I can do everythin' else thus far..." Armel looked almost thoughtful at this particular prospect. His stomach tugged at him a bit, reminding that doing all this was indeed hungry work. Armel ignored it as he had ate but a couple of hours ago, he could go a bit longer until Viddy deemed lessons complete.

"Well...Then You're a born swimmer, then!" Well, not as much of a born swimmer as she was, but pretty damn close! Still, the tale giggled as she hung onto the edge of the pool, swishing her feet about in the water. She was thinking; was it alright to go through with trying everything under the water now? He'd done so much today already, and in such a short time too. Maybe going under water now was a little too fast? Well, that and...
...She ws getting hungry. Her stomach growlingly informed her that she hadn't eaten anything since that few bites of bread she's taken before going to Armel's house...and a lot had happened since then. Not to mention Vidya was a bottomless pit when it came to food. Chuckling sheepishly, she let go of the ledge and swam around Armel. "I bet you could to...! But lets try it another day, hokay? Gives you some time to practice swimming on the water before you tackle underneith it." She decided, nodding a bit. Shortly after she stopped talking, she felt her stomach gurgle once more. "Well...that and I'm getting hungry. What about you?" Vidya grinned lightly as she spoke this time. She knew Armel had eaten, she was there when he finished it, but swimming was a lot of work for a kid; and he did learn a lot today.

It helped that he was a quick learner just by observation and the like, "Heh, heh, ye 'elped me a lot. Yer a great teacher." At least when it came to swimming. Armel hadn't witnessed her teaching anything else just yet. The ram-horned boy was about to protest the stop in lessons until his tummy calmly reminded him that, even though he had already eaten today it was indeed starved after all that exercise.
"..Aye. I'm quite hungry. I 'ad lunch twice t'day y'know. Not one right af'er another," Armel was quick to explain so he didn't sound like that's all he had done today was eat, "But it was still lunch time and by the time we came back from the place we ate and I was hungry again."
Pales moved over to them, "We done for the day?" He asked cheerfully. If the man had actually heard the current conversation it was unsure, but he had noted the pair stopping. The man had wandered off to the deep end to make his stay worthwhile by doing some swimming of his own while Vidya taught Armel. Leaving the ram-horned boy into the blue girl's capable hands.

"Kyaaah...Thanks..." Vidya giggled shyly, lowering herself in the water to partially hide the pleased blush she'd formed from his compliment. She's been worried about that, after all. Her headwings twitched ticklishly in the water, but eventually settled down, used to not being completely covered by the liquid.
"Really?" She asked curiously, when Armel told her about eating twice. Usually Vidya did that herself; her Mother and Mieke always told her it was her energy that always made her hungry...Well, that and something called a Metabolism. The tale had no idea what a metabolism was, but she was partially thanking it, and partially hating it for always making her eat. "Yeah...that sounds about right. I usually do that too, no worries! We could always come back again later, right?" Vidya seemed to partially notice he stopped his protest; and she nonchalantly pointed it out to reassure him that this wasn't the end yet.
The blue girl nodded to Pales when he came swimming over. "Uh huh...For today anyway. Is it okay if we get together again, so I can finish later? I kinda should be heading home..." She didn't want to bother them when they ate, so it was best, in her mind, to go home and bother her family when they ate. It made perfect sense, really it did!

Pales smiled and nodded to Vidya, "Of course, you can ask to continue whenever you like. I am sure Armel will enjoy it."
Armel nodded in agreement. So far he really liked swimming, and it was likely that the positive learning experience with Vidya helped a lot. In his book Vidya was a very excellent being indeed.
"I'd offer to come eat with us, but I am sure you'd rather eat with your family." Pales nodded a bit as he got to the side of the pool and lifted himself out to where he sat on the edge with just his feet in the water, "and I don't think your family would approve of a strange man and a little boy coming over without warning."
He thought after a moment, "Though I would like to talk with your mother oneday. I only got to see her once or twice at the wedding of her and Nio. She seems like a nice lady."
"Me'be a picnic one day?" Armel offered as he moved toward his Da.
"Gettin' kind of cold for picnics, but maybe a dinner at our place. I'll cook a nice meal and we can all have a nice chat." Pales smiled as he leaned to offer Armel a helping hand on to the ledge next to him.
Armel stared at the hand a moment before he just bypassed it, and went about struggling his way up on his own first. Pales just chuckled and dropped his hand.
"What do you think, Vidya?" He glanced at the blue girl whilst he tried to not-so-obviously help Armel up to the ledge.

At the mention of eating with her family, Vidya nodded energetically. "Yeah! Mieke an' her Mate're making spaghetti for dinner. I love spaghetti!" Her grin faltered for a moment, when he mentioned her family not approving of visitors. For a moment, she almost looked at him like he was crazy. Like all of her faces, that one faded quickly into her bubbly grin once more. "Lotsa strange people show up at our house...I'm sure no one'll mind! Besides, if we get home quickly, we'd make more for you two as well." She nodded sagely. It was true, however...the Love household tended to attract various, strange people...and new people showing up on the doorstep wasn't a huge surprise by this point. "And then you could meet my Momma! If you wanna, anyway." She corrceted herself, thinking that they may not want to go over. But at least the invitation was open, right?
"I think we should have a picnic when it gets warmer out! Maybe we could all go ICE SKATING together or something! That sounds like SO much fun!" Somehow, she even managed to stray off the topic of dinner and chatting. Sigh. Giggling, she gripped the ledge and pulled herself out of the water, sitting herself down and wringing out her long, streaked hair. "I've never been ice skating, but Mieke says its fun." She nodded, completely content with being off-track.
