Bones managed to sit up with little difficulty, and still had one arm wrapped around Lisa to try to keep her safe against him. Crystal eyes back tracking the happenings, he was as alert as ever. Rockets were trained for this kind of mayhem. Eyeing his arcanine playing a diversion that was full of holes, he knew that his new friend would be in worse danger if he just waited it out. Sooner or later others were going to notice.
His plans changed when suddenly the young woman was tugged from his shielding embrace by her houndoom. She was trying her hardest to protect her master, but this situation was out of all their hands now. Grasping Lisa’s arms he pulled her up to a standing position that she could lean on him. Her legs were smeared in blood, and they’d sooner be caught by others member of the group before they left.
Like a Persian pouncing on an injured starly. Not much of a matchup.
Placing his two fingers between his lips, Bones managed a piercing whistle that startled Cooper from the battle, mid-attack. Halting, he immediately turned without thinking what kind of help his master needed, arriving at his side. It was never in the fire type to ask. Halting, he was now giving clear view of who this ‘traitor’ was.
The leader of the team watched as Bones lifted another trainer onto the arcanines back…the wheels in his head working. What exactly was this?
Against her protests, Bones patted Cooper on the head. “Take her to safety. You know the place.” His eyes were serious and of knowing the danger. Cooper whimpered then, completely conflicted. He'd always sworn to protect his master under dire cirsumstances, and by goodness it was times like these...but he seemed determined. Perhaps if the pokemon ran fast enough he'd be able to follow orders and still protect Bones.
Maybe.
As the rocket turned away Bones drew his short sword from behind him and turned to face the arbok. It was foolish, by any means…but nobody was going to die from this accident. He was just stubborn like that. Frowning deeply at the commander as Cooper started to take leave, he saw the man stifle a deep laugh. Arbok against a sword?
This was no longer a contest. It would be a slaughter.

It didn't take long for Lisa to realize what the situation was now. Bones, she decided, was only a Rocket in name, not in heart. He really was the nice gentleman she'd met in the Library a few minutes ago. She gripped the mane of the Arcanine, feeling very guilty. If only she had trusted him, instead of letting her pre-established prejudice get the better of her. There had to be some way to help him.
"Midnight," Lisa whispered, "get that Arbok and help Bones. I'll be waiting for you, ok?" And with that, she and the Arcanine were off, disappearing through the smoke. Lisa was still unsure of things, but she knew Midnight could handle the softer tissue of the snake.
Midnight whirled around and trotted beside Bones, growling fiercely, her icy blue eyes fixed on the silhouette of the Arbok. The dark fire type let loose a massive smoke screen, obscuring the area. Although her sight was now mostly useless, Midnight could still hear the giant snake slithering along. It didn't seem to be focusing on her. Excellent. She let loose a howl before running through the smog, hoping the sound would cause the Arbok to attack the wrong area. No such luck. A huge purple tail ripped through the smoke and slammed into the ground, missing the running Houndoom by inches.

The battle at hand was his focus, now that Lisa was out of the way.
Bones coughed on the unexpected smog that rapidly invaded his senses, but quickly forced himself to adapt. Easier said than done, he still tried. When most would be immobile, he was at least in a passable state to battle. The houndoom leapt out of the way of a tail lash that snapped the concrete under her feet, and his heart dropped.
Great.
All the arboks in the world…and they get to fight the one on steroids.
Eyes trying to see through the smog, he found another cough rattling out of his lungs. It wasn’t bad in itself that he was making noise, because the arbok could taste the air with his tongue to find the battling pair. So really it didn’t matter, and the evil pokemon let him know this. Before he had a total moment to respond, the tail that had only moments before withdrawn into the smoke lashed out again…this time at his head.
“Ah!” Pulling back he knew it was not going to be deflected completely at that range, so he braced himself. Glasses knocked clean from his face, a gash was ripped across his cheek to the underside of his eye, almost catching the valuable organ. A laced trail of blood wicked through the air when the arbok swung its tail once more.
They were getting nowhere attacking like this. He needed to work together with the houndoom. Thanks to basic training with the very people he seemed to be fighting today, he thought of a command but wondered if she’d listen. His train of thought was interrupted as the squadron leader began again…
“You’re really something you know? A little bug getting caught in the cogs of a great machine. But those are easily dealt with, and it’s no effort on my part.” Words like ice hit Bones spine and he shivered. This was words he knew he’d have to face someday, and this was just the prelude to that. A drop in the pan.
“In fact, I take great joy in crushing those that believe they can think for themselves.”

Lisa clung to the Arcanine, wondering where it was going. More so, however, she wondered how her Pokemon and that man where. She hoped that they'd make it out alive, and unharmed. She firmly decided she was going to make all this up some how, feeling the situation was her fault.
Meanwhile, Midnight let loose a reverberating howl of anguish as the other side of the arbok, the one with teeth, clamped down on her tail. The nerve! Not only was this poison worm trying to attack her, but it now was biting her most beautiful feature? This would not stand, the houndoom thought, and using the temporary distraction created from the arbok's double attack, she let loose a cascade of fire aimed at the snake's hood. The houndoom heard the satisfying sizzle of flesh as the fire hit its mark.
The dog mostly ignored the arbok's human, knowing the real danger lay in his pet snake, who wasn't taking the hit to his hood to well. The arbok reared up and spat a spray of poison out before resuming its attack. It didn't act like it cared about the burn on it's neck at all.
Great, Midnight thought to herself, I just made it angry. She kept an ear out for any commands given by the human that Lisa told her to aid. Team work would be essential, as much as she hated taking orders from anyone other than Lisa.

Cooper's paws carried him swiftly and far with an ease seem throughout his breed. Head standing tall, he just moved through the streets almost as if on a GPS system. Before long, he halted before a rather sad looking apartment building. Well, it was at least far from the rich side of town.
Home.
Nosing open the door, Cooper promptly knelt to make way for his passenger to disembark into the abode. Granted it was on the top floor, but still...so rind on Cooper's back up flights of stairs took a bit of Tauros riding skills. Panting happily, the sounds of an explosion in the distance made his ears pin back. A whimper escaped his mouth, and he urged the young woman up to safety.
The arbok was now playing on the Houndoom's mind to be distracted by attacks that meant almost nothing. It was a game, and that's what the owner was looking at this fight as. The rocket watched through flying debris with a gaze directly on Bones...and it burned into him.
Leaping back from a sudden spray of poison needles, they landed side-by-side in tandem. Glancing at the houndoom, the pair of warriors were quickly split up by another cinder block crushing tail whip.
"Iron Tail. Go for the end of the tail and work upwards. It'll lose it's leverage." He murmured to her as he ended up slashing at a Sandshrew's back armor that tried to jump him from behind. Others were catching on to this little battle of theirs.

Lisa wobbled a bit as she held herself against the wall. Even with the support of the Arcanine behind her, she still had trouble getting up the stairs with her wounded leg. The fact that her stomach was now in knots didn't help either. She wondered if they'd be in this mess if she hadn't been so rash.
----
Midnight ricocheted off a building's wall and lashed at the arbok's tail with her own, now sparkling steel tail. A spray of blood and a hiss gave the houndoom mild satisfaction. While the tail was tough attack wise, apparently it didn't like being attacked itself. Again she sliced at the snakes tail with varying success, but each attack did seem to weaken the arbok. With its judgment impaired by lack of blood and enraged by the torrent of anger and pain, the arbok bit at the houndoom, missing just slightly and biting its own tail.
This human knew his stuff, and it made Midnight more confident to be fighting alongside him. Lisa was ok, but she was hardly the hardened warrior that this human had to be.

The leader of this little raid watched its pokemon getting beat and just clicked his tounge in dissaproval. Still watching the youngman who was thinking so deeply for the pokemon's well being, and was still trying to track his own...was interesting to say the least. That was the loophole. Smirking, his gloved fingers rose and snapped, and instantly the arbok responded. "Forget the stupid dog." He ordered.
Spitting a nasty spray of acid in the air towards Bones, the attack also spanned wide enough to attempt to catch the houndoom. Spattering over his vest as he turned his back into the attack, the off-duty rocket quickly found it reason enough to tug it from his shoulders as the chemical ate away at the garment. Tossing it to the floor beside his dropped sword, he fratically spied Midnight to see if his battle partner was hit by the attack as well. Strangely she was unhurt by the attack.
Odd.
Then in a flash it hit him, that he'd been tricked. The Arbok, having lost its leverage with its damaged tail, used its heavier and stronger upperbody to wrap around Bones' thin form as it fell to the ground. Feeling the scaled body rush around him sent him into a small moment of panic...as he knew he was trapped.
As the large snake hit the pavement, Bones went with it, and it's body closed like a trap around him. Feeling the air pushed from his lungs as his arms were pressed into his sides, the raid leaders laughing reached his ears. Knowing that if he exhaled an attack command, he'd lose all his air...Bones furrowed his brow and glared at the man. The arbok hissed at him, satisfied with catching his prey.
"Charrrrrrbocka!" it licked the air around Bones head and put all its thought into squeezing the enemy he'd caught, hoping for moments of praise from it's current owner. Feeling something snap in his side, Bones accidentally let out his breath and was now unable to get it back. This was...not good. His eyes flickered as he looked for his sword, but it was too far...and Midnight...midnight was.... Even his thoughts began to fail him now.
Just one slip up...that was all it had taken.

Ignoring Midnight, however, left the Arbok vulnerable, and the Houndoom had one last trump card. As her hackles raised, her eyes glowed a vibrant, but cold blue. She positioned herself behind the snake, then with a loud howl, unleashed a massive ray of pent up energy at the snake.
Hyper Beam
The beam struck the snake with a sickening "shriiip-BOOM" as it ripped through it's neck and spine, then exploded. The attack was NOT intended to merely make the snake faint, and it did it's job well. Midnight couldn't appreciate her handy work, however, as the blast sapped all her remaining energy. She collapsed to the sound of running feet and blaring sirens. The last thing that went through her mind before passing out was wondering if Lisa and the human she was supposed to protect were ok. Mostly Lisa, though.

The arbok was KOed and the owner it zapped from around Bones form, leaving the man to support himself on his hands and knees now. Finally able to take in a much needed breath, he immediately grasped his sword in one hand before standing. Uncertain in his movements, he caught sight of the fallen houndoom and immediately felt a bit more sick to his stomach. Not good.
The head of the operations slowly approached Bones, and he took a step back in reflex. The outranking officer grinned. “You’ll walk away from this for now, but don’t expect to be able to dodge this bullet forever.” Turning about, he waved at the rocket over his shoulder. “Bring the houndoom to me in full health, and you’ll not suffer anymore consequences from your actions here. It will be a lovely addition to my team.” With that, he was gone into the mayhem, leaving Bones to stand there without falling over.
After a few long moments, he quickly paced over towards Midnights side and gave her head a light and comforting pat. “Come on girl…wake up…please…” If she was dead, that would be even worse, for both him and Lisa. Blood running down his neck from his slashed open cheek, he rubbed at its hot train nervously. This was not good, for he was sure a few ribs were broken...and he was NOT going to be able to carry her...

An ear twitched, and an eye opened as Midnight regained her senses. She got up and shook herself off as if nothing was wrong, even though she was covered in cuts. She turned to Bones and gave him an intense stare, one that said only one thing: take me to my human.

Bones nodded at her with a silent understanding, that this partnership was over. Thinking over the offer the ranking officer had made him, Bones hesitated and then stood. “This way.” He murmured quietly, and with a very slight limp began to take the shortest route possible back to his home. It was time to meet up pokemon with trainers.
Cooper paced before the red futon that Lisa had been sitting on, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the other two. He’d done good with looking the part of the cool and calm guy…until now. Whimpering, he looked to the girl as if she had the answer.

Lisa herself twiddled her thumbs, looking back at the Arcanine. "You miss your trainer, don't you?" She asked. She knew she missed her Pokemon.
As if on cue, Midnight's bark broke the relative silence. Lisa's eyes lit up as she eagerly looked toward the door, unable to move off the couch because of her ankle. Midnight burst through the door and ran up to Lisa, tail wagging limply, but excitedly at the sight of her human. Lisa, who was on the verge of tears, embraced Midnight gingerly.

Limping his way through the door, his sheathed sword used as a makeshift cane, Bones smiled quietly to himself at the greeting the one gave the other. Cooper practically crossed the room in one bound, and was immediately there for Bones to lean on. His pet human usually came home in worse shape than he left, it was something he was used to by now. Looking over his shoulder, he gave a little lick to the wound on Bones’ face, smearing the blood around more. Flinching, Bones felt the skin under his eye tingle oddly, for the attack had almost struck the organ.
Smiling at Lisa, he moved over towards her with Coopers aid and setting his blade down knelt by her foot to examine it. “I’m glad you two are okay.” He finally said, ripping away the rest of the shredded fabric around her wound. Cooper whimpered and bumped his nose against Bones shoulder, trying to interrupt him. Bones ignored him for the moment, almost on autopilot.

Lisa flinched a bit as Bones began to tend to her wound. If things had been different, she would have noted how this was exactly like a novel. However, her mind went to other thoughts. "Oh! Yo-you should treat your own wounds first!" Lisa nervously quipped at Bones. He looked a lot worse off than she was, that was for certain. She just wished she had something to help her rescuer.
Midnight simply laid her head in Lisa's lap, only glancing at the Arcanine to give her silent thanks for a brief moment before turning back. Her human needed her supervision before she did something else reckless.

Almost as if to agree with the young woman's statement, Bones leaned against the futon for a moment in a spell of dizziness. His side ached with a dull fire in his bones, reminding him of the damage there. Reaching up with cautious fingers, a gentle touch to the wound at his eye...forced some of the red liquid into his line of vision. Rapidly blinking it away, he felt something bumping against his shoulder a moment later.
Glancing over with one eye closed, the rocket spotted Cooper knocking a first aid kit against his person. Chuckling lightly, Bones slid to rest on the floor and leaned against the futon, slipping the well worn case from his pokemon's muzzle. "Thanks boy."
Sitting right beside Lisa's damaged ankle, he opened the kit. "Guests first as a rule." He shifted her leg lightly to rest over his shoulder so he could work on it without hurting himself kneeling before his work or causing her too much discomfort at a strange angle, being his shoulder was even with the edge of the futon cushion.
Slipping her shoe off and rolling the sock out of his way, he saw it was just a trail of blood that marked the cloth. The extent of the wound was short, but reasonably deep. "If you rest, this will heal enough in a day to walk properly without limping. There's no real danger if you walk now, it'll just hurt some." Pulling out a disinfectant spray, he started to clean the cut.
