The PS2 version is completely different from the PC version, from what I hear. For the PC version, it's freeplay, and you can pretty much do what you want.. build houses, play your families like you want.. But for PS2 or Gamecube, it's more of a "game" where you have to complete certain goals to win, or something. I like the freeplay, but I haven't yet had a chance to try out the Gamecube version because it says I need a bigger memory card.

And for the aging cheat, it's "aging on" or "aging off" with no brackets or anything. Just the two words.

yeah, i got it sorted now, no aging, just need to get up to the high earning job again now!

WeVe got the Sims University expansion pack now for Sims 2 (on the PC), and although I was skeptical on how much I'd like it, I'm pleased so far. Of course it's added some new decorating items, which I adore. (Hubby accuses me of enjoying creating houses more than playing the Sims themselves!) But it's kinda nice having a set span of time that is SHORTER than a whole Sim's life. It counts semesters in HOURS, not days (though it's the equivilent of several days, to be sure). But that DOES make it more challenging and the need to be proactive with your sim more important. Though how in the world you get them rich enough to rent a house I haven't a clue!

You know, the guy who CREATED the Sims is guilty of the same thing! wink

That Sims University sounds great! My problem is.. I can't find my Sims2 disc since we moved in our new house! eek It's not anywhere it should have been.. I think I may have stuck it in one of Jade's game cases, and lent the game to my sister! crying I hope I find it!

i'm the same! i really like the building/decorating side of it, that's why i was a little disappointed with the sims 2 because there's much less choice this time around. maybe they should bring out an expansion pack that's solely for the homes, now i'd love that!

Ooooh, now that's an idea! I'd love to see tons of nice furniture and wall papers and floorings for Sims2 (that aren't usercreated or need to be downloaded one by one..)

Ohhhh! I totally agree! The Sims 2 Interior Decorator Expansion Pack! Ooooooooh! LOL, maybe I'll go put in a comment at their site about that! It is nice that each expansion pack adds to the decorating selection, though. There is new everything except maybe gardening stuff, which stinks. Of all the areas I was disappointed (going from having almost all the expasion packs for Sims 1 and all the goodies that went with them all to now this), the near lack of gardening stuff was the worst. I don't like just doing the INSIDE of a fancyified house, I like to do the OUTSIDE too! I did the best I could with one house's front yard, but it looks fake. ::sighs::

P.S. Oh, and can I say a hallelujah for simolean cheats? Hehe, I'm a sucker for giving my Sims money and then doing their house up like crazy! I suppose it defeats the original prupose of the game, but it's FUN!

Nah, for a lot of us, that's the most fun part! Some people like the challenge of earning their money, but others would rather spend their time creating great architecture, interior design, and landscaping! I think because the game creator enjoyed building houses so much, he allowed for a money cheat so us builders wouldn't get frustrated with the play. I agree though, there aren't many gardening items to choose from in Sims2.

LOL, I'm glad someone else does what I do! I also prefer to provide my Sims with what they need to progress nicely in the game. And I love treating my favorite Sims to the nicer things instead of what simply might just do. However... does it seem to you that there are less random, unexpected events? And I miss the phone calls possibly being some of those events! It was fun to never know what to expect when they answer the phone. I STILL tend to expect it to be an event, isn't that silly?

i've noticed the lack of phone calls, i'm not sure if i miss them or not, desperately trying to get your sim out of bed before the phone stops ringing to get'you're an autumn and should decorate accordingly'used to make me mad! but i do miss the suden rises in simoleans from the nice calls!
one thing that does annoy me about the new game, when they answer the phone you can't see who it is, because your sim's green diamond is in the way, you'd think the games programmers would have noticed this!

Rats, Gaia ate my post! My post was something like:

Well, firstly pivoting your point of view can help with seeing who is calling. But also, I know at least since I installed the University EP, maybe before but I'm not sure there, it shows the picture of the person your Sim is talking to in the left hand corner. Course then you have to go to the relationships panel to see what their name is, but ah well.

I noticed they can spend hours and hours chatting on the phone now, which is sometimes a waste of time and I make them get off, but it's good when you're trying to make friends!

Sometimes when I miss who the call was from, I just open the relationship panel and watch whose numbers go up!

Dang, I need to find that Sims2 CD...

does anyone know any good download sites for sims2 stuff? i have downloaded a few things before but they didn't show up in the game so i can't have done it correctly, but i would like some more NORMAL looking stuff to choose from, instead of goth/zombie type things that most of the sites i tried seemed full of!

one i liked was www.ChicChica.net, some gorgeous gowns on there, but not many of the items were free and a lot of the links didn't work sad .
hmm, i think i may have found myself something to do for the next hour or so..i'll see if ican download something successfully!

Wow, i'm glad I stopped by here again! I almost bought sims for PS2, but after reading that post by fawN about how it's a game set-up, and not jsut creating/playing with the characters, I think I'm going to have to get myself the PC version. I think my computer can handle the first one.

Thanks for all your help, I should be buying it next week, tehn I can talk to you all about the game itself
