Sosiqui did feel bad for him, but he was right. "I don't know where you left off," she said, gently as she could manage through all the weird, conflicting feelings. "That might have been me... but it also wasn't. We're different now."

She shook her head then, abruptly. "I'm sorry to have ruined your day. I'll see you out. My, er, condolences for your loss." A lame excuse, but she needed some time to think about all this alone.

"Yeah. Sure thing." Carda didn't feel much like talking by this point. He just hoped it wasn't raining outside. The last thing he needed was some emotional cliche to rear its ugly head as he walked home.
Seraphim followed close by, ready for any emotional support if necessary.
Carda turned back just outside the front door. "Sorry. About everything." With that he turned again and headed for home.
