I would've loved to do something combat related if I were to join up, but it sucks that they won't allow that.
Alot of good points are made about how women may not be able to handle psychologically the things men can, and the heaviness of the battle armor, packs, etc. ( My husband made me try on all his body armor one time and "smoked" me..not very fun lol)
And it all makes sense and it is true. Women's bodies aren't as tough as men's and I've seen some pretty strong women.

Even if you can't be in a combat MOS you can still go outside the wire. You could still go on convoy missions or get attached to an Infantry company and go out on patrols with them because only female soldiers are allowed to search other female prisoners/suspects.

I think women should be allowed to anything a man can do. It's not a matter of gender, it's a matter of ability. If a woman is capable, she should be allowed to do it, if she's not, then no, but even if some are not, those that are should get the opportunity.
As for the "society's not ready" argument, that is complete bullshit. Who gives a ******** what they're ready for?
I would love the opportunity to actually fight for my country, and I just hope that those sexist assholes will stay out of the way.

Sorry If I offend anyone hear, I am simply stating what I believe to be logical reasons for this topic.
To start off, yes, Russia did use female snipers, but I believe it was mentioned somewhere else in the topic that they were separated from male sniper battalions. Also, it is not uncommon to find females with CARs (Combat Action Ribbons), In Iraq women Motor T have been ambushed and have fired back. Any who, my opinion on this subject deals with human nature. Say in a Coed Squad gets in a firefight, a guy is going to naturally want to protect the woman. Now say female gets wounded. Mortally. Again guy is gonna want to save her and spend more time working on her than some guy who is savable. Thats just combat, now lets look at life in the States. Fraternization was brought up and that is a good point, Male Squad leader, female subordinate.... female is a whore, so she sucks up to SQD LDR, guess who's gonna get good pros and cons, plus skate outta alot of shiite? Now say Female is a good girl. Coming from personal experience. There are hardly any women around grunts. We gotta go 3 miles to see the nearest barracks with a FM. Think.... there is alot of guys, separated from females, who have a little more testosterone than the normal joe back home. Fights will break out over the women and god forbid one gets raped. And what if Female becomes pregnant? that's a lot of money and training that just went down the drain.

Us women should be allowed to do everything the men can. I mean, sure, basic training is hell, but isn't it for everyone? And can't we all learn how to shoot a gun? " Just remember, when everyone else is shootin', shoot the same direction"? I mean really. I wanna go into the military as a combat medic and yet I can't because America thinks we aren't ready? Don't get me wrong, I love our country, but that doesn't mean us women have to stay on the sidelines. As for XSpetsnaz, well sure, men want to protect the women, but we're more than capable of holding our own. I mean, sure, they probably have that natural instinct to protect us, but then again, we have the same instinct to care for anyone hurt. It's just the way we are. We have that part of mind that clicks and says " Oh, wait, that giy needs help". It's just the way the female mind works. Yes, the guys CAN do more than us, but that doesn't mean we can't come close.

It's not about women being capable or non capable of the same things men are. I'll admit, the Semperfit chicks could probably whip my a** any day, one I know for sure. But the problems that would occur are as I said: Relations, Rape, and Pregnancy. The latter for sure is the biggest problem... unless you get an abortion. Yeah, you could possibly train a while longer, but what would be the point? So that's 9 months you're out of the fight plus maternity leave. someone mentioned hygiene, I'm not gonna even try to explain this since frankly, I don't have much knowledge on a certain aspect of it, but I will say this. When I was Expeditionary out on the Sinjar Border the closest thing we got to a shower was a bottle of water..... and it got into the negatives at night so a bottle of water that was once frozen isn't gonna be something you're gonna use gladly.

look, i have a dual citizenship to both the US and Israel, and while i spend time in Israel I've noted that women serve in combat roles quite with the same frequency as the men (though they seem to have a higher percentage of officers). i see women in the same platoons as men all the time. i see them in the same groupings in basic training. and they keep up just fine. they have roles on tanks and air force as well as infantry. I'd say women are just as capable in that regard as men.

okay i understand that some people think we are being protected from things they think girls should never see. I also understand the certain urges some people would have and i appreciate all sides of their argument. I'm also bringing up my own opinion. I dont understand why when you sign your life away when you join (not in a bad way) that you cant pick where you sign it off to. sure girls may not be physically stronger than men. when they join. PT changes all of that and i know plenty marines who can kick a guys a** in almost anything physical. If we choose to join the military we should choose exactly where we want to go. its our choice. anyone who doesnt want to face mortars shouldnt join that duty. but what if girls want to be snipers? rangers? heck i havent seen ONE job for woman that has ANY combat in it and it frankly pisses me off. They underestimate us and our determination to serve our counrty just as well as men, if not better. Women who sign up already know the dangers of combat, and I'm sure they know the dangers of other men pretty damn well. Once again, Men are underestimating us. Because I can tell you, a marine would not get raped. She'd probably blow the ******** head off, and i think the point has been made just above me that women can do just as well as men. so WTF? it's sexism to me with a pretty name called protection to cover it up
