Calli settles herself up on the shelf Tobias gave her once he'd outgrown it. She nuzzles her face into the fibers of his homemade nest, savouring the smell that had been quickly fading lately.

Heaving a sigh, Mauli began to hum to herself, a snatch of the chorus floating through the air.
"The last that ever she saw him, carried away by a moonlight shadow..." Her voice was more melodious in the song than it had ever been in normal speech, and she swayed, hitting each note perfectly and trilling exactly as the singer herself had done in the song. The beat was perfect, no pauses to remember the lyrics, no dramatic pauses for effect... It could almost be considered beautiful, except for the fact that she was hiding underneath her OMG hat while singing, so it muffled the sound. "I stay, I pray, i'll see you in heaven... One day..."

Calli perks upright as she hears the mailslot creak open and papers fall inside. She looks for the closest exit off the shelf, contemplating at first to just jump off of it.

Mauli jumps visibly, then yelps, sliding awkwardly over to the mail. Then, beaming, she looks up at Calli and shouts. "MAAAAAAIL'S HERE! C'mon, c'mon!" She jumps up onto the shelf, lying down so that Calli could jump on her back. Ohsoexcited, nyeh? xd

Calli looks startled, but climbs onto her back. "I could'a done it myself, you know.." she complains, but is too eager to see if anything arrived to care much more.

"I know that, you're a big girl." Mauli nods, then giggles, carefully jumping to the floor. "S'faster this way, though!" Then, lying down by the mail, she carefully sifts through it, looking for the telltale bright cover of one of Tobias's postcards to peek out from underneath the white and yellow bills and letters from others and such.

Calli becomes very quiet as she pushes through the flyers, turning up an almost unreal looking postcard.

Mauli gapes silently at the beautiful mountain scene. "Wow... He was there...?" It almost makes her forget that he might have written something on the other side.

Em walked in to the hq... it felt weird, not to have Tam on her hip, and kept looking down to make sure she was walking beside her. Tam, after the five hundredth time she did it, rolled her eyes and tugged at her mother's jeans.
"Cut it out, Mom, I'm right here."
Em just nodded- she didn't say anything, but made a mental note to break her daughter- or at least, ATTEMPT to break her- of the 'rolling eyes' habit.
"Look- there's Calli and the others looking through the mail. Why don't you go see what they're looking at. I have to go get something from the car really quick." Tam nodded and, as soon as her mother turned, she loped over to where the group pored over a postcard.
"Hey. Whatcha lookin' at?" She said, her voice mostly monotone.

"Usually he gets his postcards from where he was," Calli replies, beaming. "Turn it over!"  "Mail from my brother," Calli explains, excitedly trying to contain herself.

After reading the card aloud, Mauli thwaps her paw down on it, positively grinning from ear to ear. "Lookit that, Calli! He mentioned you! And he didn't mention anyone else, either... Musta been saving this one just for you!" Inside, she was a bit bummed that he had been vague, but the feeling was overwhelmed by the relief of Toby finally mentioning his younger sister in his letter.

Tam sat back, a blank expression on her face. She didn't know how to read, yet. Her first lesson was that afternoon, with her mother. She figured someone would read it aloud, though... and even if they didn't, it was Calli's mail, anyway.
"Tobias is your brother?" Tam asked, turning her head towards Calli.
