Everyone here is making awesome points that I agree with. I think everyone was pissed about the lionturtle crap they threw in there. That was probley one of the worst plot fillers I have ever seen. It's almost as bad as having 10 year old Ash Ketchem miraculously be "The Chosen One" out of the millions of people on the island. Crazy stuff. Show creators need to stop putting in spontanious crap that adds nothing to a show. >_> The only thing good that happened with the whole floating island/ lioncrap was that past Avatar's stories and advise, which Aang didn't take anyways.

Teh_Sheba Good point about the other kids having made sacrifices and having had the power to either kill or let live. Aang throws accusations in the finale like confetti...I mean, Katara for one could have gotten very rightfully pissed off, she held Yan Ra's life in her hands, even Hama's! I would have LOVED to have seen her bite his head off that she's had to make the same choice, and that he needs to take the same responsibility that they all have, and that he shouldn't be so quick to say that none of them know where he's coming from.
Also, I'll point out that Zuko could have just let Zhao, one of his biggest rivals, die in season 1, but he still tried to save him(From Aang, no less).
I think the problem is that all of them grew up in war, they know what it takes, they know that war is all about and you have to make tough choices. Aang grew up as a monk in a time of peace. SO MUCH AGREEMENT. Especially about Yan Ra and Hama - Katara came very close to killing, and she was forced to do something that went strongly against ehr morals (bloodbending), but Aang seems to forget that. And, yeah - the other characters all have a sense of maturity that Aang lacks because they've already faced tough decisions and impossible tragedies. They understand that the world - epsecially one at war - is a hard and unfair place that sometimes forces you to do things you never would do given the choice. And I agree with diet - everything all the other Avatar's said to Aang was completely true, yet he ignored it and chose to cling to his monk lifestyle. Even Avatar Yang Chen, who he expected to side with him, said he should go ahead and kill Ozai because the sacrifice of one man's spiritual well-being was better than the sacrifice of thousands of lives.

I agree with you there - the lion-turtle was so random and felt like a cop-out. Also, I kinda wish that at the end, when everyone was all happy and celebrating, the Avatar's Aang had talked to would materialize and be all "WTF was that? D<" Much better than twelve year old make-out scenes and 'where is Ursa' plotholes.

I agree with the above statement...the whole 12 year old makeout scene was quite awkward!!! I thought the ending battle to the war being over needed more...it just seemed to end two suddenly and the anticipation for an epic battle between the avatar and the fire lord was not very epic at all...they reminded me of all the other megaa battles that happened... stare

The epic battle was definitely the ZukoKataraAzula battle, with the SokkaSukiToph battle in a close second. Aang did what he always does and tried to avoid doing what he was suppoed to. You know that's going to be his pattern for the rest of his life, right? If the past Avatars did appear, I would love to see the Airbending Avatar that came before Aang slap him upside the head. Didn't he tell Aang that as the Avatar he had to sometimes do things that went against what the monks taught him? What happened to that?

Yang-Chen pretty much told him to suck it up and be a man because sometimes you do have to sacrifice and go outside your comfort zone to get things done. She even said that the Avatar can never reach enlightenment. Which essentially means that he HAD to sacrifice his own comforts because it's his destiny to be the avatar and keep things straight. And yet, nothing of the sort happened.

Maybe it's because mentally and physically Aang was only 12, but he sucked at being an avatar. I guess the writers thought that by not letting Aang man up, they were making him all noble and whatnot, but he just came off as being a whiny, bratty, little punk. What I'd really like to see is Bumi's reaction to the final battle. His honest reaction, because the very first time we see him, he accuses Aang of avoiding challenges and being evasive. I think Bumi would have sealed Aang up in crystal until he found his precious cojones.

I'd forgotten about Bumi's first encounter with Aang (well, first encounter after 100 yeas) - you're right, he probably would be a bit ticked. I'm surprised Toph wasn't, too, since she was always telling him to face his challenges head on like a rock. Also, I think you might be on to something with Bryke wanting to let Aang keep his innocent twelve year old attitude. It's a nice idea, but when you're writing about someone trying to stop a crazy, power-hungry warlord? Yeah. Aang needed to grow up a bit.

Srsly, I have to go buy and fix this. Afterall, look what Nick did to X-men, fixing Avatar shouldn't be too bad, and by the time I actually buy the rights, it'll be time to properly school the new generation!
Mai should probably die too though...no, thats mean, nvrmnd, she was actually an okay char, she just needed a certain type of guy. Thats what I would have done actually, or just made a sequel about Mai going off on her own to 'find herself' but she ends up getting kidnapped by a dashing highwayman who always laughs at her.
I have a fanfic now!

Sorry, I thought Mai was depressing. She's the type of person who after I spent an hour with her, I'd be ready to kill myself. And I'm a generally upbeat (albiet sarcastic) person.

I feel like everyone here is a little biased about Mai. Lol. I don't like her with Zuko, but I think she'd make a good ambassador or something. She's independent enough that she doesn't need a guy, so I wouldn't want to put her in a ship right away. She could do some seriously cool stuff. Maybe she could be part of the Koh storyline, since her expression never changes. wink Hey...that could be an interesting ship...

XD I agree. Mai would probably make a good embassador because she really doesn't pick sides. She wouldn't be sympathetic, so she wouldn't judge people. Too bad she doesn't really get into the whole politics thing. Oh gosh. I don't even want to picture Maikoh. o_o
