Treskri hid a slight smile on her face at Quenar's happy expression of finding such a good specimen so early on in the adventure. "No problem, I should have warned you before you got down in the grass and disturbed it. The slightest movement in grass will alert all manner of creatures to your presence." She replied in a serious tone.
It had been a close call, but it was more than likely that the poisoner would have only ended up slightly feverish from a snake bite. By now he had to be practically immune to most known poisons in the Underdark. The snake's venom was used in most of them, as far as Treskri remembered..she might be wrong about that. Treskri couldn't help but wonder how long it would take a drow to build up an immunity to poisons. Perhaps it should be something she should look into once she had the opportunity to ask the poisoner.
"On second thought, perhaps a cave would be better for us. Once the sun rises the place will be crawling with humans and surface elves. We wouldn't want to get caught up a tree by them. I've seen them set trees on fire in order to destroy drow." Treskri said, shuddering at the thought.
Fire was not something she particularly cared for. She had seen too many people die by it and didn't care to go that way if she had any say in the matter. No..a meaningless death in the underdark was more her style...or being killed in a raiding party.

Quenar stowed his new catch away then listened to the female explain the new terrain's rules. He did a quick once over of his surroundings, having a somewhat eidetic memory when it came to his current situation. After leaving he wouldn't remember the fine details but for a few days he could. He nodded at the idea of a cave, feeling a bit more comfortable with the feel of rock under his boot rather than this dirt and grass. Not to mention he did not relish the idea of being caught out in the sunlight were any enemy could see him. Being a blind poisoner is never a good thing.
"So where shall we set up camp? I am trusting you to find the most appropriate place given you great experience in this terrain so unknown to me." Quen paid her plenty of respect being his guide but also being a female. After all he was still a loyal Lloth worshiping drow. Hmm, maybe he could find a nice plant or something to offer as a sacrfice to the goddess should his trip be wonderfully fruitful.

Treskri was rather enjoying the rapt attention Quenar was giving her. As he well should be. She was after all the expert on this trip. She glanced around as he spoke, trying to get her bearings so she could figure out which direction they would have to go to find the closest cave. It only took her a few moments for key outstanding points in the landscape to flit back to memory. There was the tree that looked like a bugabear holding a trident, and the large rock that bore a striking resemblance to a gargoyle..and then the stream.
"well..now that i remember where exactly we are, and the key landscape areas, let's get moving. The closest cave should be at least five miles from here. Shouldn't take more than a jaunt and a jog to get there. Follow me!" Treskri replied in a cheerful tone as she began to skip and jog across the terrain. Every few moments she would call out in a low tone to him to watch out for holes or fallen branches or stones, so to help him not to tumble or trip over them. The pace she set wasn't too fast, but it wasn't slow either.

Quen followed the woman as silently as he could. He didn't want to alert any nearby animals or such with his movements. When they finally got to camp the poisoner set up his small area. He had been collecting things the entire trip, some things he already knew were poisonous and a few others he had his suspicions. He started a small fire, hardly enough to keep them warm and with a special kind of tinder that made the flame glow a green/blue color. It disguised his area as firelight wouldn't be noticed.
He removed the snake first, better to get the life specimin's contribution first. He had delt with some snakes, mostly those sold in the Underdark so he could take this one. He got one of his cloth covered glass jars and quickly milked the serpent. While it only yeilded a few drops it was enough. He let the snake go in the nearby grass and returned to his small fire. Next he took a few plants that looked like moss and began to boil them in water, better to extract their poison. While that boiled he began to chop up a root of some sort.
"If I may ask, have you any experience with surface poisons?" He was curious after all. Perhaps they were of a different calibur than his.

Treskri was glad for the silence, and made her way quickly and carefully through the underbrush. She'd stop for a moment every now and then to make sure he was keeping up and was glad when he wasn't more than a few feet behind her. She could see that he was sporadically gathering insects, and small reptiles and animals as they traveled. She might have said something about it if he wasn't keeping up, but since he was she stayed silent. Within about half an hour of traveling the two of them finally came to a stop in front of the small cave that she had found on a previous excursion.
She quickly put her bedding down, and settled down watching as he started his blue green fire and began to go through the specimens he had gathered. She watched her dark red eyes gleaming with interest as he quickly worked the snake's venom into a jar. She often wondered just how a poisoner might extract poison from such animals and was satisfied that now she knew.
She was a bit surprised and pleased when Quenar finally asked her a question.
Treskri turned over to lay on her stomach on top of her bedding while she contemplated the question. "You could say that I have. I've been shot with poisoned arrows, bitten by several snakes as well as clawed up pretty badly by a wild cat. Strangely..the cat's claws hold poison and can cause some very annoying symptoms. There are also poisons in plants that aren't deadly but can be very disturbing. I ended up with this very itchy rash that was all over my body after laying in one plant for several hours. Is there any reason why you asked?"

Quen smiled as she described her encounters with all sorts of poisonings here on the surface. Most he could identify by just the symptoms she described. His young face was lit up by the blue/green fire, it was as if he could make his own magic with the brew. He poured the liquid he had brewed into a jar and cleaned it out quickly. Next he added some leaves to a mix of water and some sort of sticky liquid."
"Mostly to accern reactions. It would not be very couth of me to try out my poisons on my guide. But know of a few poisons you encountered. The cat actually had a disease on his claws, not a poison. Much like a dirty knife gives you disease," he spoke without looking up.
"The arrows are most likely covered in what I am making. A sticky poison, one that will stay on the blade until it pentrates the body,. The plant you speak of is called poison ivy. Just makes a rash. You should burn any cloth it came into contact with. The sap is extremely hard to wash off" he stirs the mix and a slight sweet smell fills the cave.
"But mostly I ask because you have more experience with the method of introduction. How you were poisoned. By wound, by ingestion, by simple contact. So many ways of introducing a poison to the body," he grinned in a way that only a poisoner can. He stirred the mix one last time before tasting it with the tip of his tongue.
"Interesting.."

Treskri was rather surprised by Quenar's answers. She couldn't help but wrinkle her brow as she thought on his words for a moment. It sounded all plausible but how come no one had told her that bit about the poison ivy? After all..at the particular event it happened the one in charge of the party and made her go lay in that area. Had it been done for malicious intent? More than likely. that particular female had never really cared for her once she had come back after being stranded on the surface world.
"Well, it sounds like you've definitely studied all the workings of poisons and how they're administered. Have you poisoned anyone before yourself?" She asked out of curiosity.
Her stomach started to growl so she grabbed her pack and pulled out some dried roth meat and some nuts and began to munch on them to quiet it.
Her eyes widened in shock when the poisoner tasted the poisonous mix and her jaw fell open causing some of her chewed food to spill out.
"Are you mad?" She breathed in shock.

"Poisons are a good trade. It helps to know many kinds. Even some healers can't identify a poisoning. After all, who better to ask if something has been stolen than asking a theif," he grinned a bit.
Quenar almost laughed at the woman's reaction, almost. He knew that would earn him a punch or maybe a dagger to the throat. Most didn't understand that a good poisoner could taste a poison and tell its potency and strength by a small taste. He poured the mixture into a small tin and closed it up.
"Hardly. How else do I know I've done it right?" he smiled and tossed her the tin.
"There. On your blade that delivers a paralyzing reaction. Good for wounding but keeping your prey alive for interrogation," he cleaned his pot once more before starting his last brew of the night. It was getting late and he would need his rest.
"As to your first question yes. I've learned many ways to poison others, mostly through trial and error. Error is always the worst since it's more noticable that it's a poisoning. A good job is when no one can figure out how they died. Thats also how you learn the different levels of reaction. Such as that tin I gave you. A very small amount only makes a tingling sesation. A deep would with a good amount causes paralysis," he smiled as he put the pieces of root into the boiling water and continued to stir.

Treskri merely nodded in agreement with his first words. Everyone knew that was true. She could tell that her reaction had amused him but she didn't know exactly how much. It was probably good that he hadn't laughed for she probably would have throttled him a bit.
"Oh," she breathed and managed to catch the tin easily with one hand. She was surprised that he would gift such a thing to her and looked at him in askance. "why would.." she began as he informed her what it could do. "Oh, well thank you. I shall make good use of it." Treskri took care to stash the tin into her pack where it would be safe from falling out.
She inclined her head slightly as he continued speaking. "I suppose you make good on what you promise your customers; which is probably why you insisted on getting your own supplies." She commented watching him as he began to work on yet another brew.
"Don't stay up too late, and once you're done you'll want to move your bedding in here. As long as we stay out of sight during the day we should be fine..though we may have curious animals checking out our camp. Wake me up when you're done so I can keep watch." Treskri told him, rolled over on her bedding and promptly fell into a light sleep.

"One can never trust merchants when they say something is what it is if you've never seen it. This trip is also an education for me. So I can identify false from truth," he added a few powders to the mixture as he continued to stir. Had to keep stiring or the stuff would burn. Not a pleasent smell with the mix he was making.
He nodded as she told him what to do once he was finished with his brewing. This would take a bit of cooking but he'd be in bed in a decent amount of time. For now, he looked at her. He was good an examining people and, as of yet, he hadn't had a chance to look at anything but her backside. Not that it wasn't just a lovely as the front.
Being a poisoner meant he had to be in the thick of things. Other assasins who use weapons or magic needed privacy for their menstrations. But not Quen; he had disguised himself many times as a servant or a delivery boy to kill his victims. He had also sold his wares to those seeking to do the killing themselves. Thats when you had to look at someone, to see just how serious they were. No use selling a good item to someone who would be too frightened to use it.
Finally his brew was done and he had taken in enough of the female. He cleaned up his spot quickly, stowing his gear in a silent action. He made his own bed behind her spot and tapped her shoulder softly before settling down. Quen actually slept sitting up, in a meditating stance of sorts. For some reason, he didn't like sleeping prone. Left too much of the body vulnerable to introduction. But for now, he slept.

Once Treskri's head hit her bedding she instantly was transported into slumber. It was a talent that hadn't really taken much training but was always a source of annoyance for those she worked with on former raiding parties. She slept without a sound, her breathing slow and easy.
Her dreams; which normally were rowdy pleasurable things reminiscent of past flings were different tonight. Instead of the faces she used to dream of, it was Quenar's face that imposed in her dreams. It was rather unsettling and strange that such a thing was happening. She had never had this occur to her before.
While her dreams unsettled her, her body didn't respond in any fashion to the things she was seeing. Otherwise her employer might have been indulged to wake her from them. But since the torment of these dreams wasn't apparent in her she dreamt on getting more frustrated moment by moment.
Finally a small tap broke her out of her sleep. Treskri popped upright as though she had been hit by a sledgehammer. She immediately turned to glare at Quenar, where he was laying less than a foot away. Treskri glowered, and muttered something under her breath as she pulled herself out of her bedding and went to site by the front of the cave.
She was slightly relieved to see he had taken the precautions she had suggested earlier but was still miffed about the fact that he had been in her dreams. She really couldn't afford to be attracted to the male, especially since she was working for him! It was unacceptable to be having such dreams about him, especially knowing that he was a poisoner. He could kill her if she tried to make any unwanted advances on him. So she was going to have to watch herself and make sure not to lose control of herself. Thankfully there was no way that was going to happen, since she hadn't brought any strong drink with her.

Quen slept dreamlessly. He had trained himself through the use of some of his poisons to do so. Dreams meant your past kills could bother you, they were also distracting. So he slept fitfully. He awoke to the dusk settling in the sky. It was slightly blinding to the drow but he needed to get out there. There was one plant that bloomed in the twilight hours like this then closed back up in the night and day. So he could only get at this plant twice a day.
He gathered his things, but left his bedding for the moment. He already knew where a speciem was, having sighted it the night before. He nodded to Tre.
"I'll be right back, i have to go collect something."
He was out silently, blending in with the growing shadows. Now it was very obvious he was an assassin. He found the small plant, fully in bloom. It was beautiful, a bright fushia with a yellow center. And it was the center he was after. Right at the base of the stamen was the poison, and that was what he was after. He took a a small scapel and slowly sliced through the plant. Finally he got the part he needed and put it in a small jar.
"Alright, first part of my list is achieved," he smiled at her and held up the jar. "So small yet so effective."

Treskri was silent, her eyes casting fervent glances in every direction and every once in a while up at the sky. If it were possible she'd sit like this all the time just basking in the beauty of the night sky. She watched it go from a dark blue to the light lavender of dusk without moving once, other than to let her eyes flit to check for intruders every now and then.
She nearly started with fright at the words that were shot at her when dusk was there. She turned, her face a mask of annoyance to see Quenar grab a few of his things and silently walk out into the shadows nearby. Treskri frowned and crossed her arms over her chest huffing in agitation.
She wanted to snap a retort at him, but held back. She didn't want to give the male the pleasure of knowing he had caught her unaware. Plus it wasn't likely to put her in any sort of good light if he did know.
"Well good for you." She replied as nicely as she could without puking. "Grab your things, time to lay low for the day." Then she began to roll up her bedding and clean up the food she had spit out earlier so that no one would find it. Once she was done with that she cleaned up any sign that they had been there and hefted her pack onto her back.
"Let's get moving, we don't want to be caught out in the open." She said tersely and headed off to a cave that was a mile away. A cave that was a little better hidden where they would be able to hide out until the dark had come.

He just smiled and stoded away his things and quickly got his gear. The male tossed a lock of white hair out of his eyes and followed the female. She seemed annoyed. He guessed it was because he had suddenly wandered off without her to get the first thing on his list. Or perhaps it had something to do when she jumped when he had touched her the other night. Perhaps he should have just spoken her name rather than making physical contact. Most were rather wary of poisoner's touch.
He kept with her, staying in the shadows by nature. Most of his other items he had yet to see so he had to rely on the woman to take him where he needed to go. Some plants were hard to spot. Other things were made out of secretions from animals he would have to catch. But his guide knew were to hunt and capture, he knew how to extract and use. It made for a good team. And her appealing backside didn't escape him either. He didn't mind following her.

This time Treskri didn't spare the poisoner a single glance backwards. She was too incensed at how she was feeling. Normally she was able to lock away her feelings when it came to working a job, this time it wasn't quite so easy. Perhaps if she knew that the male was picking up on her vibes she would have tried to work on hiding them better, but she was rather oblivious to it because she was trying to ignore him.
They were perhaps over halfway there when Treskri came to an abrupt halt, her eyes flashing and hunched down behind a tree stump peering down in a canyon below. She signed for him to be quiet, as she leaned over and glanced down at the three humans who were gathered below looking over what looked to be a net. It took a few moments for her ears to adjust and her mind to take in what they were saying before it registered.
"looks like it's bigger than we thought, we'll need a whole crew to take it out."
"Probably need some sort of steel to do it in, think we could get some of those elves to help us out?"
"Maybe, but I doubt they would. they tend to help only themselves these days. They're more paranoid than the dwarves are. Seems like they think they'll be treated like their cousins who live underground."
"Well better head out and get that crew, we don't want that vermin to get any more of our cattle."
Treskri waited until the three men had departed and then she signed for Quenar to stay where he was before slipping down the canyon walls and towards the net below. She looked around the enclosed area trying to assess what sort of creature might have destroyed the human's cattle and was rather alarmed to see large claw like scars in the canyon walls. She examined one and wasn't surprised when she found some secreted substance in it. She wanted to collect it but didn't have the tools. With an impatient sigh she walked to the far side opposite where Quenar was hiding and signed for him to come down and join her.
