I own no Soquili.
Name: Iltian
Temperament: Cautious

Iltian listened to everything that her parents have told her. But she wanted to know who these neighbors could be. She thought that they could be a herd of a different type of Soquili and was excited to meet them.

“I hope that they aren’t Kalona as I don’t want to get hurt…” Iltian said to herself as she was walking towards a clearing with a small pond where she could get a drink. Just as she was going to break cover she spotted that her neighbors weren’t other Soquili and stopped right in her tracks but making the bushes rustle just a little and for a few seconds looked at her neighbors and saw they were something very different than she thought and they walked so funny. True to her nature she caustically backed away from the edge of the forest and back to her family when she saw they were looking in her direction.

Iltian told her sibling on what she saw, but didn’t tell her parents as she didn’t want to get in trouble for running into the neighbors they told her not to disturbed. With each day Iltian thought about the humans as they intrigued her and she wanted to find out more about them and to watch more on how they walked on two legs. Iltian stayed close to the forest but close enough to the clearing to watch the humans. But unknown to Iltian she was also being watched by the humans as she wasn’t always careful not to be seen every time she left her hiding spot. Every time Iltian came to visit they made sure to make her feel that she was in control of her visits as they loved when she came to watch as she had become there lucky charm and always made them happy with her visits.

Something was a little off when Iltian came to watch her neighbors as she could smell something good in the air and she wanted to find out what it was. Looking all around as she couldn’t see any of the humans around the pond or there huts. Cautiously she walked into the clearing, letting her nose guide her to what she wanted. Unknown to her as she walked into the clearing as a little girl was watching her and she was also had what smelled so good to Iltian.

Iltian was getting frustrated that she couldn’t find what her nose was looking for and stomped the ground showing her frustration. As she looked up from the ground she spotted a little human poke her head out from beside one of the huts. Scared Iltian froze on the spot not really knowing what to do as her mind was running a mile a minute. The more Iltian looked at the little human and saw that she was smiling and not being threading to her. The little girl came out of her hiding spot bearing a few apples and walking slowly toward the foal. The girl kept on smiling and keeping her hands forward showing she was bearing gifts. Iltian sniffed the air and found that the human had what she smelled before and cautiously got closer herself and took one of the apples as the girl took a bite out of hers to show it was good. Iltian like the apple and now thought that the strange neighbors weren’t all that bad and nice too.

Desired Name: Miakoda (meaning "The Power of the Moon" in Native American-though name will change is the gender happens to be a male)
Soquili Own/Co-own: None
Brief Personality: She is a kind little filly that would not hurt a fly. While when first approached she seems to be cautious a bit skittish, it doesn't take much for her to warm up and open to you. While she is kind to everyone around her, when it comes to her siblings, she isn't too kind. Now, she tends to give them an attitude at times and she likes to make fun and tease them but she doesn't truly mean it. It's all in good fun.

Maybe I should have listened to what my sibling had said..

The start of spring along with something new was something the filly always enjoyed. It was a chance for new smells, sights and even life. That which appeared throughout Spring could not be found while in Winter. Though the filly questioned the change of seasons as though the works that it seemed to bring, she found it exciting to see what the changes would bring.

The sky was a beautiful shade of blue this morning with a few thin and fluffy clouds that made their way lazily across the sky. A warm and gentle breeze blew across the lands and whispered softly into the filly's ears. The black and lavender coat that she bore twitched slightly in response to the wind. Carefully, the young filly lifted her gentle cranium from her grazing spot and a soft smile couldn't help but play upon her features. The morning appeared to be peaceful and serene with the signs of life all around her. Flowers where in full bloom, a doe and her new baby emerged from the bushes to graze appeared before her. Crimson orbs twinkled warmly at the sights. She narrowed her orbs slightly as she looked to her sibling whom had the same markings as their mother though his where golden-his coat glittered unusually under the sun's rays. She allowed a soft sigh to escape her lips as she glanced around once more. Though it was early morn and not much was happening, the filly was ready for what today had to bring. However, it appeared not much was going to happen any time soon. She was a filly that even if nothing seemed to happen, she would make something happen. If adventure was there, she would find it.

Glancing back at her sibling, she parted her lips to speak. "Hey, do you remember what mother and father told us about? About the strange neighbors we have that is," she asked.

Her sibling glanced over at her and thought for a moment. "Yeah, why?" he replied after a brief pause.

"I'm going to go find these so called neighbors and see what they are all about," she replied with a smirk. She noted the expression upon her sibling's face one of that worry and confusion as to what she said was that in a different language.

"What?" he spoke with a titled cranium.

"You heard me," she snapped.

"But mom and dad said we shouldn't disturb them. They don't like that," he said watching as his sister began to trot off.

"Yeah, but are mother and father here?" she questioned with cocked brows as a smirk pinched the sides of her lips.

"N-no."

"That's what I thought," she replied with a snort. "Besides, they won't know that I went to go visit these neighbors. I'll be back before they even notice I was gone," she added.

"But what if you get hurt?" he asked.

"I'm a big girl. I'll be fine on my own."

A change of scenery quickly appeared as the filly moved forward. No longer were the fields barren with the lush green grass that ran for miles. There seemed to be some strange things that where triangular shaped that scattered throughout the fields. A tiny bonfire danced under the sun and the faint crackle of the fire drew into the filly's ears. Curiosity got the best of her though her movements were slow and cautious. Once excited and fearless as she made her journey to the neighboring village, a new emotion came over her once she made it there. Fear though she held herself high. Her muscles twitched with every step she took. She paused for a moment as a strange creature made it's way towards her, seeing how she was now spotted. The creature was strange. It walked on two legs and not a hoof to be seen. It's tan complication glittered faintly under the sun and it's mane was pulled back in a braid. Clothing, that in which the filly had never seen, covered the creature from head to toe.

Miakoda's heart raced. Her breathing became uneven and nostrils flared as she snorted. She wanted to run but it seemed as though her legs had buckled and would not allow her to move. As the creature moved forward, it seemed to coo softly. Though what this creature was saying to her was that in a language she could not quite understand, it was all more a reason to be even more nervous. Her ears twitched as the sounds continued to enter her eyes and her eyes grew wide. "It's okay young one," the creature spoke as it extended it's hand. The creature's eyes were kind.

She snorted once more as she finally got her legs to work. Just in time too. The filly backed away in fright frantic whinnies escaped her throat. The creature continued forward though with slow movements, it's arm extended the entire time. Without a second thought, Miakoda turned and galloped off, back to her home where she felt safe.

Maybe I should have listened to my brother after all...
She thought as she galloped off.

Name: Lalawethika [male]
Meaning: Shawnee for "He Who Makes Noise."
Soquili owned: None.
Temper: Anxious, awkward, gawky, scatterbrained. Very naturally inquisitive and loves to explore.

Lalawethika was bored.

With a quick glance down at the three sleeping colts curled up near his feet, he hurriedly slipped from the comfort of his little patch of ground and trotted away from his siblings.

As he gained distance from them, Lala began to relax, breathing a sigh of relief. He tossed his glossy gold mane importantly and quickened his gait to a smooth, confident canter.

There was a squawk.

The Soquili leapt nearly a foot in the air. Skittering ungracefully to the side, Lala tilted his head and saw that he had managed to trod upon one of the more fluttery of the red-breasted nuthatches that made their nests in the forest.

"I - sorry!" Lala squeaked, hastily stepping back.

The bird, now thoroughly ruffled up, shook out its bent feathers, tossed Lala a dirty look, and flew off, quite unsteadily.

Lala sighed.

A few steps more into his adventure, and Lalawethika discovered yet another difficulty: his mother. Lucine lay on the little patch of freshly green grass not far from where Lala and his three siblings were sleeping.

Or supposed to be sleeping.

Lala swallowed nervously.

Tucked beside just a large lake of rippling blue-grey water, Lala and his parents lived on the outskirts of a small, quiet, and comfortably inhabited forest that was placed near a large expanse of flat gold-green grass and hard-packed clay. Despite the fact that it was a fairly open and inviting area, Lala and his siblings had always been forbidden from going into the uninhabited territory.

Which was now, quite suddenly, inhabited.

Lala looked over the forms of his mother and father sleeping at the strange contraptions that had been grown seemingly overnight in the field. They were shaped like upside-down foxglove flowers, only with tan, cream, and white colours instead of lavender. Poking up out of the pointed tops were what appeared to be large branches.

There were several of these odd structures, scattered haphazardly around the field. Placed in front of each one was a small circle of black-smeared rocks and what looked like broken twigs and leaves inside. And standing just outside several of the tents -

Lala stared. There was a - a creature, moving about beside the flower-shaped places. It was tall, and skinny, and straight up, like a stiff branch. It only had two legs to walk, and Lala wondered how it managed to stay that way.

Unintentionally curious, Lala sniffed the air, raising his nose to the wind. It smelt of burnt wood and fresh water, but there was also something else; something completely foreign that he guessed was the two-legged. He took a tentative step forward, wanting to find out more, but stopped abruptly when he heard a loud whinny.

He'd stepped on his mother's hair.

Repressing a snort of alarm, Lala backed up hastily, running his rump into a tree in the process. Ignoring the pain of splinters digging into his rear end, Lala held his breath and watched as his mother shifted positions, burrowing her head into her mate's side. Sol moved a fraction of an inch to accommodate Lucine's weight, but after that, the pair lapsed back into silence.

Lala let out his breath in a gust of cold air, and stepped away from the offending tree, looking back at the broken bark before trying to sneak quietly around his mother and father. He had just managed to silently make his way to the other side when -

"Lalawethika. What do you think you're doing?"

Lala froze in place, one hoof raised to start walking.

Oh...crap.

He turned, very slowly, around.

"Um..." he stammered. "Going...going to get a drink..?"

A pair of glowing red eyes rose to meet him, and Lucine pushed herself up off of the ground, stamping her hooves lightly to get the dirt free. Beside her, there was a rustling noise and the golden-sphered gaze of Lala's father, Sol, also locked onto him.

The trio stood, not making a sound.

Then -

"Lalawethika." Lucine said lightly, but Lala caught the undertone in her voice and shrank back. "Bed. Now."

"Yes, Mamma." Lala said meekly. Backing away, he quickly skittered back to where his brother and sisters still lay sleeping. Curling down beside them, he thought of many things: the strange, two-legged creatures that now lived in the field; how he wished he hadn't gotten caught. And finally, as his eyelids starting to flutter, and his head began to droop, Lalawethika wondered how on earth he was supposed to get the splinters out of his now very sore behind.

Name: Hoshi (male)
Meaning: Star in Japanese
Number of Soq: 0
Temper: Resplendent

Hoshi awoke to the sensation of his nose being nipped. Eyes closed, he could still feel the sensation of being watched intensely. He opened one eye, only to settle into the wide-eyed gaze of his sister. He stared back. After a few minutes, Hoshi sighed and gracefully rose to his feet.

“Fine, you win, rascal.”

Hoshi trotted ahead. Pausing, he looked back, waiting. “Weren’t you the one who wanted to go?” he inquired. “If not…” he mimicked the motion of sleeping.

Tsuki sister grinned widely and bounded toward him. Head butting his side as she passed, she shrieked, “Race you there!” Hoshi smiled softly and cantered toward her, easily reaching her side in a few strides. He slowed down to a walk, serenely watching his sister frolic among the trees, chasing butterflies. The calmness of the atmosphere was broken when the high-pitched neigh of his sister pierced the air.

Heart racing, Hoshi raced frantically toward his sister, arriving to see a creature as tall as her in front of her. This thing was as pale as the moon but its mane held the color of the night. It was as tall as his sister yet only had two long legs and two smaller ones.

Is this what mother warned us about?

All this took one second before Hoshi bared his teeth at the strange animal and planted himself firmly in front of his sister. One sniff and he thought ‘It smells funny.’

A squeak came out of the creature and its two smaller limbs approached Hoshi. He reared in surprise and quickly shouted at his sister, “Run back now!” Looking back and seeing her stockstill, not moving, he nudged her forcefully. Relieved as she streaked back, Hoshi felt his heart beat loudly as he resumed his stance. The thing stared at him and he grew nervous. It reached into its belly and produced a small white cube.

Sugar.

It placed it on the ground and backed slowly away and disappeared.

It walks funny too.

Hoshi stood there until he could no longer smell the strange creature and sniffed it. Smelling nothing out of place, he licked at it.

He raised his head at the sound of hooves as Lucine, Sol, and Tsuki appeared. Lucine rushed towards him.

“Are you fine, sweetie?”

Hoshi could only numbly nod back. Lucine breathed a sigh of relief. “I told you children not to come close to the border,” Lucine lectured. Hoshi hung his head.

“Sorry, mother.”

Lucine’s gaze softened and she nuzzled Hoshi and his sister. “But I’m glad you’re safe. Let’s head home now.” Hoshi trudged back with the sounds of his sister squeals and the safety of the herd. He looked back once and thought, ‘What a weird being. But thanks for the sugar.’
