Yrael--Mogget Also, when he says 'I can't tell if you are in', he could mean 'I can't tell if you are in with our plans', so he could be Frank, anyways. How confusing! I guess there's no real way of knowing which of them it was in a lot of instances.. frusturating. stressed

Um.... every one is talking about how they THINK that Dewey is the father of kits baby. So, listen.
Doesn't Snicket say that when Dewey died that he left the woman he made pergnant swimming/wet/damp... some word that means "swimming in the ocean near Hotel Denouement?" because that is where Kit was supposed to meet Widdershins... remember? some go back and read the part where Dewey falls into the pond... or I will... anyway.... neutral

He opened his mouth, and reached one hand out of the water, pointing past the Baudelaires toward the dark, dark sky as he struggled to utter the word he most wanted to say. "Kit," he whispered finally, and then, slipping from the grasp of the children, he disappeared into the dark water..." p. 236 I would like to see a link to where ever snicket said "that when Dewey died that he left the woman he made pergnant swimming/wet/damp"

Either way, I'll check when I get home, so we'll have the answer soon.

Lotta clues throughout the book.

I agree with paradoxical about the fact that Dewey might possibly be the father.
Also, I have a question. I didn't really get the part about the taxidriver. With all the descriptions Lemony Snicket made of the taxidriver that gave the Beaudelaires a choice, were we supposed to recognize him? If not.. anyone has a clue about who this man can be?
Hm.. am I alone, or do I have the feeling that the Beaudelaire's parents might have killed Count Olaf's parents.. or if not the Beaudelaire's parents other so called nobles.

I think (not sure about this) that the man was actually Lemony Snicket. I defenitely think that their parents killed Olaf's parents, it only makes sense with the poison darts. It would also give Olaf more incentive to have done so much bad stuff to them, in addition to trying to get their fortune.

I'm not trying to go against your idea, but I'm just curious to know what kind of hints he gave to make you think that way about Lemony Snicket.^--^
True, true. 3nodding

Felti585 Is it just me, or did it seem that Charles and Sir are a little more than "business" partners. One thing came to mind every time they were mentioned in the books: Waylon Smithers and Mr. Burns. xd

I found what I was looking for: (paraphrasing) they thought the boat would sink into the water, just asDewey did, leaving the woman he loved PREGNANT AND DISTRAUGHT. endquote
