Airana Fathom

PostPosted: Tue Feb 10, 2009 5:22 am

*I'm not leaving just yet little minnow but...* Her attention pulled to the stairs again as Tidalwave spoke and Llune followed soon to speak as well. Fathom moved to a far end of the pool away from Llune. Crosscurrent had mentioned in send that she was a glider as well. "It is not my joy to meet you stealer of my brothers and sisters of the deep." Her voice was low and a bit angered. "I want nothing from you or the other glider but to let me be."

(Sorry Llune, Fathoms just Bit*@ stressed )

Llune blinks in the darkness, utterly and completely confused by what Fathom has said. You see, Llune knows absolutely NOTHING of this "brother stealing," that went on in years past - she is a seamstress and not one to meddle with politics and wars and the like. Her speciality is pretty things and tea.

"Ah..." Llune pauses, not quite sure what to say, "I'm sorry, I do not understand why you approach me with such anger my dear - I have never met your brothers or sisters, save for Tidalwave and Crosscurrent..." Her eyes adjust a bit more, and Llune can make out the form of Dewpaw and Tidalwave, though she doesn't know where to look for Airana. "I have come bearing a gift of peace, and to welcome you to my home..."

Llune's previously bubbly, cheerful voice is much more serious now - why is it that anytime she meets new elves they say things like this? For thousands of years Llune's spent all her time making pretty clothes and paintings, and then she gets out into the wide world and others judge her as evil without meeting her at all! It's terribly saddening, and Llune switches to send for her last statement, **I know nothing of this stealing you speak of, please understand I only offer you friendship, a drink and well wishes.** The send is tinged with sadness and kindness and a feeling of being unfairly judged.

Dewpaw swam back to the edge of the pool when Tidalwave came back down. She easily ignored his first comment, but before she could respond to the second, Llune ahd come down and Airana hadn't liked that. Dewpaw floated in place, looking back and forth, extremely confused. She had heard tales of Gliders, after all, the wolfriders were cautious of them, but Llune was the sweetest elfess she had met, challenged only by Peyote. Llune had been nice to her and even cared for her. *Why are you mad, Airana? What's wrong?* Dew sent, worried and confused. She didn't like unnecessay fighting amongst tribemates. And while she knew about about some of the things the Gliders were capable of, she wasn't sure what Airana meant about "brother stealer", but the words brought the story of Strongbow to mind. He had been taken. But that was for shooting a hawk. The Gliders had hurt him, but that was Winnowwill, not Savith or Llune. Dewpaw was still confused. Unsure of what to do, she swam back toward Airana.

Tidalwave wasn't happy hearing Airana attack Llune and it brought a deep frown to his lips. The stern scolding sound clearly heard in his tone as he spoke to her in the darkness. "Shame on you Fathom, to speak so to this clearly gentle soul who is with child yet. She has welcomed you into her home with open arms and you spit in her doorway."

Turning to Llune his face and tone softens. "I am sorry she has such poor manners. Her tongue comes from long past heartaches caused by your kind. It is not you she dislikes, it is the actions of others like you. Like your son. Forgive us all if the deeds of your once Lord are held against you. For time and a greater understand of each other will help all wounds to heal I hope." Looking back to Fathom Tidalwave sighs softly, "Do try the tea Fathom, it's good."

Llune listens to Zayn's words intently, not missing the fact that he included her son, specifically in the inclusion. And though Llune kept herself from knowing the deeds of her Lord over the centuries past, in the last 50 years or so she's become more aware... These deeds must have been far graver than she had once thought, and the prospect of this depth causes her frown as well, though it's passed quickly away and is formed into a polite grimace instead.

"I suppose I must take responsibility for my blood, though. Even if I was not a party to whatever ill behavior was enacted upon you and any others, the blame is, in part, my responsibility..." Llune glances down to the steaming cups of tea in her hands, her face soft and thoughtful for a moment before she continues.

"And, despite having unwittingly been a silent supporter, my only means of amending these wrongs past is, well..." she glances up at Zayn and then the direction of the pool (where she still can't really see where anyone is), "Tea." Llune half-shrugs, the motion gentle enough not to spill a drop of tea, while still fully conveying the attitude of a shrug, and clucks softly, almost a chuckle, but not quite because of the gravity of the situation, "I suppose that's a poor offer of peace if you don't like tea, however..."

Unseen to most Fathom opens her mouth to tell Tidalwave where he can put his stern scolding but soon shuts it again. Now moving closer to the end of the pool where Llune and Tidalwve stand Llune might be able to make out the dark water elfess better. Bright amber eyes look up at Llune long and hard for a moment. Her arm slowly lifting from the waters as she says in a hushed and cleaarly unhappy tone, "I would like to try your drink please."

Llune's face splits into a bright smile at the water elfess swims up and lifts her arm. Her send is bubbling over with joy **Really? Oh! I do hope that you like it! Here you are!** The graceful elfess drifts to the edge of the pool, her eyes now adjusted well enough to move across the stone floor to the edge of the pool and hold out the cup of tea to Airana. **Fathom is a beautiful name my dear! My name is Llune...**

Dewpaw frowned, not enjoyng being ignored, but she got her answer, kind of. She swam back to the edge of the pool and climbed out, staring up at Tidalwave. She cocked her head to the side and blinked. He had spoekn rather sternly to Fathom, they her own father used to talk to her when he wanted her to pay attention and learn something important. She looked the water-elf up and down before asking, "Are you Fathom's father or something?" The whole time, her voice dripped with the onnocent naivety of a cub.

Looking down to the younglings words Tidalwave chuckled, "No little one I am not," Here he knelt down to Dew's height as he went on. " but she was being rude to Llune here who was only being kind to her." His violet eyes looked black in the darkness. Still as he smiled those same eyes might betray a hidden sadness. "I am Tidalwave. What might your name be?" His voice soft and kindly.

Dewpaw blinked a few time, her head still cocked to the side as she thought about Tidalwave's words. So he wasn't Fathom's father, oh well. It didn't make much of a difference to her. So far, the only blood-family around here was Savith and llune, and something Llune's cub. Dewpaw smiled, looking at Tidalwave's eyes, now nearly even with her's, and somewhat glad that she didn't have to look up. Looking up at elves taller than her was getting to be annoying. "I'm Dewpaw, I'm a wolfrider. But everyone calls me Dew. Or cub, or kitling, or minnow, or hatchling, or all these other names. Its kind of annoying, because I don't always know what they mean," as Dew spoke she leaned closer to Tidalwave, "You're eyes are really purple. Like the flowers in the forest. well, kinda. The flowers have more blue." Dew chattered on, as if nothing relatively upsetting had just happened.

Airana Fathom

PostPosted: Sun Feb 15, 2009 7:09 pm

Fathom pushed herself up from the water a bit more to sit on the ledge as she had done with young Dew. The long shark tail slapping the water lightly as she flung wet hair to one side. After making Llune wait a bit Fathom polightly took the tea. "Thank you." Her voice low with a hint still of agitation as she sipped her drink. She could be heard even in the dark making a lip smaking sound as she decided if she liked the taste. Once she was done the cup was held out in the air as if to have some unknown form take it away. "It was pleasing enough I suppose." Fathom sat and fussed with her hair and tail a bit.

And an unknown form indeed took the cup, as Llune lifted it from the waterelfess's hand with a thought and her gliding magic and the empty cup drifted toward Llune and settled itself on the rock beside her.

**Oh, thank you,** Llune gushed, perhaps being overly friendly because Airana was so frigid, **I made it myself, from the plants that grow near the cove... Have you seen our cove?** Llune adds in a few mental pictures of the cove, before the hurricane, of course, so that Airana can decide if she's seen it or not.

**Anyway... This tea is not the absolute best I've ever made, but then there hasn't been nearly as great a selection since..** Her send trails off, a hint of sadness as she nearly mentioned that cataclysmic even that changed all their lives.

**What do you like to drink, my dear? Or is there drinking in the vast deep? I'm afraid I know very little about your kin, my dear.** Llune asks the waterelfess, her send filled with curiosity, but also with an uncertain politeness, as though she's unsure whether or not the question will offend the other elfess.

Since Airana clearly doesn't like her, and Zayn seems to be friendly toward her, plus he's busy conversing with Dewpaw at the moment, Llune focuses all her attention of Airana and trying to make friends - or at least peace - with her. Llune tries to ignore the fact the Airana utterly ignored her compliment.

((OOps! Edited because Airana *did* say thank you! Sorry guys, I've been super sick.))

Airana Fathom

Airana took a deep breath, letting it out slowly as she ran fingers along her tail. Keeping from looking at Llune as she spoke, "I like clear water and on occasion drink made from the green plants that grow under the water." Long fingers move to pull gain through her hair. "As for your cove no I haven't seen it but I have little interest in land. It's dry and seems uninviting to one such as I. Other then little things the youngling can show me." A bored little slap of her tail and she turns to TidalWave. "Is Crosscurrent going to stay and play with his catfish or will he be joining us soon?" The sound of her voice not angry but more an impatient bored sound.

Llune smiles, and responds, "Oh, I would love to someday try your green-plant-drink! And as for the cove, it's the wateriest land-place next to this very room, I'd say - there is a pool of clear water and a waterfall, and it connects to the vastdeep!" It's funy how Llune sounds so much like Dewpaw, just chattering away about stuff, "But I can understand why land doesn't much interest you - Dancer has shared some view of the underwater, and your home is indeed stunning to behold."

Matching Airana's demeanor to some degree, Llune twiddles her braid a bit and spends a more time looking away from the beautiful water-creature than she otherwise would have (Llune really REALLY loves to look at pretty things!). When Airana addresses Zayn, Llune glances over to him, her eyes now comfortably adjusted to the dark, then back to Airana, then back to her braid, then over to Dew, then a quick and brilliant smile to the young cub, then a quick glance at the other two, then back to her braid-twiddling. Ho hum, what to say, what to say...
