Alanis trudged through half a foot deep mud. Every once in a while she'd stop to listen. Turning her head to one side, she heard more shots go off and yelling about a mile away. Ducking under a thick branch of leaves, Alanis hid among the shadows hearing footsteps. Her heartbeat quickened as she got ready to dash away. The hunter looked around for any trace of her, but found nothing. Her tracks wouldn't be easy to follow, as they were underneath layers of mud, and she made sure to stay as close to the darkened areas as possible. Alanis let out a sigh of relief as the hunter turned and started back in the opposite direction. Her small claws dashed as quickly as possible deeper into the forest. It was time to look for Zarius. She started toward the river at a fast, steady pace.

Zarius hoped his plan worked. He emerged from the water and looked around cautiously. He then sprang in to the trees. "Better up here than down there." He said to himself. The trees were spaced enough for him to jump from one to the other. "Now...which direction." Zarius stopped a moment to gain his bearings. "Aaaa this way. Alanis my dear I'm on my way." he carefully hopped over to the next tree with ease.

She stopped for a moment to try and gather her thoughts enough to sense either Zarius or anymore danger that might be near. A smile touched her eyes, as she continued on toward a familiar energy. Alanis trotted through a small clearing, coming to the edge of the river. She halted as soon as her claws touched the water. Glancing around, Alanis didn't see him anywhere on the ground. "Zarius?"

Zarius wandered the tree tops for quite some time; he was getting worried. He never seen Alanis. He just hoped she was in a good hiding spot or good at hiding in general. "Hmmmmm...I'll turn back. I got a feeling she never went this far." He turned on his heel and heading back the way he came towards the river.

Alanis decided to wait in the area, but hid inside a bush only a few feet away from the river's edge. The shadows were effective cover in case anything with malicious intents came along. Her dark colors made her almost invisible to the naked eye. It was only the bright coloring around her eyes that would give her away, as she tucked her legs underneath her to lay down. "Oh Zarius please be okay," she whispered a silent prayer and waited. He had been this way, that was for sure, but she felt if she continued on deeper, she woudn't be able to find him at all.

Creeping low Zarius cautiously emerged from the forest to the rivers edge. He sniffed the air and listened. "Alanissssss..." He whispered. He hoped he could find her soon casue he was beginning to worry; a lot. She was a smart girl. She is probably safe somewhere. He took a few steps back into the forest and then he sensed her?---was it her? It was faint. But it was very near.
