"Ah, no, tea is fine." Riot assured him with a blush. "I-I don't drink much wine."

"As you wish," Tal said, sauntering into the room with hips swinging. His cups and saucers did not match the pot. Instead, they were earthen and painted beautifully. He poured them both a cup, and then did the unthinkable. He added cream to his.
"I am a blasphemer, I know, but I simply prefer a less striking flavor."

Riot laughed a little. "I do that occasionally myself so you're not completely alone." he said warmly. Well, at least he was succeeding, for the time being, in keeping his mind on tea and not the rather nice way Tal's hips moved.

Tal handed Riot his glass and sipped gingerly at his own. It was a soft flavor; floral. Clean.
"How is the bookselling business? Or library business, I'm not certain you told me which."

"It's a bit of both really. I sell plenty of books but many are available for borrowing, or - in certain cases - renting." the darker one said, taking a sip of his tea as he did. "It's a decent living and my customers tend to be nice, so I can't really complain."

"Of course," Tal smiled, "Are you in the business of buying books for sale? I have a few you may be interested in."

"Occasionally. Depends on the books."

Tal nodded and sipped at his tea. He'd get the books to show Riot later. For now he was enjoying the casual conversation.
"So how long have you been on Gaia?"

"Long while. Few hundred years at the very least." the neko replied softly, sipping his tea after he said it. "And you?"

"Quite the same," Tal smiled, placing his cup down. He was finished.
"Would you like to see the books I mentioned?"

"Certainly." Riot said with a warm smile, placing his cup down as well. If there were to be books involved, he'd probably not want that in his hands.

Tal stood and left the room, returning minutes later with two large volumes in his hands. One had a soft white cover, bound with gold, and the other was leather. Neither was in English.
"If you'd like them, I prefer you rent them rather than sell. They are very old, and very precious."

"Those would be the types that'd get rented out for sure, if I allowed them out of the building at all. I get a little protective with certain things and I'm semi-paranoid when it comes to the older books I have." Riot replied, pulling his reading glasses out of his shirt pocket to study the volumes better. He couldn't read them very well, if it all, but that was to be expected. Even when you'd been alive as long as he had and studied thousands of texts and languages as he had done, there would always be some private ones that he wouldn't have gotten the knowledge of. "Lovely books, that is for sure."

Sindarin certainly was a very dead, dead language.
"then you would like them?"

"Of course. You will have to name your own price though. I am a terrible appraiser." Riot said, tone half teasing half serious. He generally did have sellers set the prices, unless they were sleazy and he didn't trust them but Tal wasn't exactly that type.
