Bishop chewed her lower lip as she thought, it would have been good to have more soldiers to fight but they had to work with what they had. " You've gotta use your magic with plants and like trap them in vines or something so they can't move. Then Rook can use Drum magic to knock them out." Bishop wasn't sure what she herself would do yet but her keen eyes focused on the advancing army looking for a sign or something out of place.

Rook looked down at his drum and nodded " I can do that."

Bishop nodded and stared harder , she was a shapeshifter she could make her eyes like that of a hawk and zoom on in on the enemy " I can't " she growled they're moving to much and it's hard to pick anyone out till you get s them stopped. I'm sure I can do it then, I know I can they just have to stop moving." The girl had confidence in herself she just knew her strengths and weaknesses.

Rook picked up the pace of his drumming as if to warn off the enemy, to let them know they would not go down without a fight. he did not change the beat yet though, it wasn't time for that, but soon it would be.

Bishop watched as the angry horde of trolls was forced to stop their advance by the sudden appearance of the vines or risked being hurt by the sharp white thorns the grey vines bared." Good job" she praised the other girl. " Now they'll stop moving and I can get a better look at em.."

Her eyes focused until she could see one that stood out from the crowd wearing a sparkling blue amulet" There she pointed" Rook You need to knock down the ones around him and then we can take him out he has to be the leader.

Rook nodded and changed his drum beat to mimic the sound of rolling thunder as best he could. he had no clue how to tell if what he was doing was working unable to bring his mind to pretend to quite the girl's level.

Bishop nodded and darted out from beneath the safety of the sheets.



The young shapeshifter transformed as she ran long legs shortened to became thick and scaly like that of a bird. Toes became sharp talons and in only a moment a fierce bird of prey took to the sky. Circling the enemy she spotted the target and dove for him hoping to blind the enemy and force him to retreat. A leader who could not see is useless

Bishop somersaulted across the floor and grabbed a small blue glass jewel off the coffee table that had been moved before then stood triumphant.

The shapeshifter give a keening victory cry at the last minute as she blinded her foe with one talon and snatched his amulet with the other before taking to the skies again to avoid any retaliation not that she thought any would get past Kaimi's defense.

Wounded themselves and with a defenseless leader the mountain trolls had no choice but to retreat.

Hours had passed and still Bishop rolled the shiny blew stone between her fingers as she lay inside the for and watch tv from it's safety. although she wasn't really watching the tv so much as watching the timer on the new years program so she;d know when it happened. the pumpkin haired girl yawned a little struggling to stay awake. She'd been active all day and she's never tried to stay up this late before. Having the other awake was helping though.

Andrea lay on one side of her playing with a deck of cards, the older girl having come out to play with them after dinner. she;d been pretty quite but very nice to Kaimi.

Kaimi was on her other side and Bishop was chatting back and forth with her best friend.

Rook was curled up half asleep around his drum, adding to the conversation on occasion. He'd played for them a lot today and they;d danced to the drumming and summoned spirits and generally had blast.

Now Bishop just waited for the magic midnight hour

Bishop nodded " Soon, do you have a wish and a resolution ready" Carol had told her about those, wishes you could make at night and a promise or goal you tried to achieve as a resolution. It had sounded interesting enough to Bishop. Her wish would remain a secret but " My resolution is to be a good student when I go to school soon."spending most of the day away from home and learning to work with a large group of others was going to be hard but Bishop was determined to do it..

" I want to find someone" Andrea said softly

" I 'm going to learn to play the drums better" Rook said firmly.

Bishop wondered if Kaimi didn't care becuase she was older and had already had a chance to go to school unlike Bishop ." Fire dancing sounds cool" she admitted.

As the clock and crowd on the tv countered down the final second Bishop grinned and wished hard and then shouted " Happy new years" before leaning over to kiss kaimi's cheek since everyone on the TV seemed to be doing it.
