Toulouse glared at Houkan viciously. He didn’t like the way the boy’s eyes were turning silver, nor the way that Pasayo instantly obeyed the youth. Toulouse was not so intimidated. Instead of standing and “walking it out,” Toulouse merely sat back against the couch in a lounging position, his face utterly nuetral. He crossed his arms and looked coldly at Houkan for the first time.
“Please, don’t boss me around.” Was all Toulouse said, then added, “ Have you even happened to notice that there is something different about Pasayo or were you just too busy playing the intimidation game?” He wasn’t on the cursed land so in reality there was not much the Houkan could do to him. Toulouse was used to intimidation and could dish it out like the rest. The teen would have been more comfortable had he come back fully into his powers, but for the moment he was fine. He glanced at Pasayo and wanted to tell her not to submit to easily to Houkan, but he remained silent.
“Elementary.” Garett replied smoothly to Rown, no hint of a boast in his voice. He had just come back from the kitchen after he had settled Dorian down at the table with a stiff drink. “No secret at all. Being blind perhaps. I’ve made enough love potions to know what it smells like.”
Garett looked thoughtful for a moment as he seemed to stare right past Rown in his usual unnerving way. “I’m rather curious myself as to how you weren’t much bothered by such things either. You’re son seemed to be in the same state as yourself.”
If Garett had seen Houkan, he would have been able to guess that the boy didn’t belong to Rown. Despite that, Garett was thoroughly impressed by the two and how they had stood up to such strong magical forces. He was also interested in knowing why Toulouse, who seemed knowledgeable in such magical practices, was so overcome. The teen had let his guard down obviously, but there had to be more to it. This was definitely something he had to look into.

"Eh? 'e's not me son, e's me youngest cousin. We're only twelve years 'part in age, but I guess ye cannae see 'im ta know, what wit' ye bein' blind an' all."
Rown took a moment to glance back over at Pasayo and Houkan, her eyes narrowing for a moment as she watched the interactions they were sharing that involved Pasayo rising to her feet and bowing like a broken doll. The boy on the couch seemed like such a sourpuss that she debated setting a fire under his butt to make him move like Houkan suggested, but that would not go over to well in a place that was not her home.
"An' as fer why we're fine after all that, it's 'cause the two o' us are immune ta all things magical. Our bodies cannae be harmed nor altered by anythin' unnatural unless we are the ones ta be doin' it. Call it a gift, if ye want ta."
"I am not commanding her around, and I am not trying to intimidate you. You are under a haze right now and it would honestly be best for you if you walked it off instead of just sitting there and allowing it to work further into your bloodstream. Your head will probably feel better too."
Houkan reached his hand out and gently placed it on Pasayo's head, despite her sudden growth still being quite a bit taller than the young Ashe. While he did not seem to be so shocked by her outward growth, inside he was panicking about a million miles an hour.

“Oh? I’m terribly sorry. My mistake.” Rown had unwittingly tapped into Garett’s very curious nature and when she had mentioned her “gift” he was nearly tickled to discover more about it. “Nothing magical can alter your bodies you say? How very extraordinary. What did you do to warrant such an effect? I mean, certainly no draught or potion is that long-lasting. Interesting. Tell me, was it an incantation or a weave that altered you so or something entirely different?” Garett was almost as giddy as a school boy. The study and understanding of all things magical was really his only true passion.
Toulouse wasn’t going to do it. Even as he watched Garett become increasingly more excited as he spoke with Rown, the Ashe wasn’t about to get up. Instead he gave a huge yawn and fell back against the length of the couch as if he couldn’t be bothered. With his eyes close and arm thrown over his face to block out the light, Toulouse could all but see the haze that Houkan spoke of. It was floating like a little cloud just out of his reach. He wasn’t particularly worried about anything getting into his bloodstream at the moment. With his mental barriers firmly in place, the spell would easily drift off sooner or later.
“Pasayo is gorgeous? Don’t you think so Houkan?” Toulouse finally asked as he felt the tension leaking from his body. He didn’t even bother to look up at the two. He had remembered what Pasayo had said about Houkan and Piero going a little crazy about her growth. Maybe if Houkan admitted Pasayo being grown was fine then she would feel more at ease with herself.

"Ah, we dinnae have souls. Sold 'em ta the Devil a long time ago."
Rown spoke with a matter-of-fact tone, the tone of her voice not changing at all. She might as well have said she was doing well with the way she was speaking, not mentioning that she and her cousin were hellspawn of sorts.
"All o' us got a magical mark that tells us o' our pact wit' the Devil, an' I'd be more 'en happy ta show ye but since yer blind that cannae be done, yeah?"
She stuck out her tongue anyway, the bright silver of it catching the light and making it seem to sparkle. While it was not made of pure silver it certainly looked like it was with how it shined, and as she poked it with the tip of a gloved finger she finally pulled it back into her mouth.
"I got a silver tongue, an' me cousin o're there has silver eyes. 'E's got a spreadin' silver though, which has never happened a'fore."
"She does indeed look stunning. I always knew she would grow into a beauty one day, but I must admit I did expect it so soon. Pasayo, did you run out of the house in fear because you awoke to find yourself like this, when you had gone to bed as a little child?"
Houkan's words were soft as he spoke to Pasayo, his hand still resting atop her head like he would often do to her when she was a child. He could no longer hold her in his arms to comfort her like before, at least not without looking rather....inappropriate, so he left the motion as it was.
"I must also say she did become prettier than I had previously thought. You have really changed from that little scrawny waif that used to cling about the knees of my Elder brother and myself into a fine woman who apparently can run about ten miles barefoot. In the cold."

“No souls because you sold them to the devil?” Garett’s voice held a curious inflection to it, but nothing more. He was not accusatory nor disgusted by Rown’s outrageous announcement, but merely interested in how such a thing would be accomplished. As a magician himself, demonic power was curious to him “I wish I could see your mark with these dammed eyes of mine.” Here Garett sighed with a note of bitter resentment, but then brightened, asking, “So how would one go about selling one’s soul to the Devil?”
“No, no. Stop right there Professor!” Dorian exclaimed, quickly cutting Garett off from anymore questions. The gray haired boy rushed from the back kitchen with a bottle of good scotch in his hand. “Please, I’m begging you lady. Don’t answer any of his questions. Lord knows what he’ll do with the information. You’re white, not black Gary.”
“Yes, I know.” Garett replied with a delicate sniff. “Doesn’t mean that I can’t be interested though. This is purely for studying purposes.”
“Study purposes my left foot.” The youth exclaimed taking a swig of the alcohol. It was helping to steady his nerves after whatever it was happened. “Next thing I know, I’ll turn around and find a giant leather book written in blood. No Garett. As your apprentice I forbid it.” It was obvious at this point that Dorian was a tad sloshed as his words were a little thick.
Garett merely rolled his milky brown eyes and shrugged shamelessly at Rown.
Eyes swimming with a mirthless laughter, Toulouse watched Garett for a moment before looking about to Pasayo and Houkan. He was exceptionally glad that Houkan was all for Pasayo’s growth and not freaking out about it. However, he didn’t think that Houkan needed to lay the compliments on so thickly. A surge of annoyance welled up in Toulouse’s chest as he tried not to glare as he sat up. He knew he had no right to be jealous of anyone, let alone Houkan. The Ashe had only kissed Pasayo after. It didn’t really mean anything did it? Of course it didn’t.
Toulouse stood up with this idea firmly in place as he made his way to the duo. The air still smelled faintly of the lingering spell, but that wasn’t what made Toulouse reach out and place a warm hand at the small of Pasayo’s back. It also didn’t make him kiss her cheek lightly, nor glance at Houkan with a look of gratitude mingled with something sharper. Toulouse had no idea what was making him act in such a way and chalked it all up to the weather. At least, that’s what he told himself.
“See Pasayo. There was nothing to worry about at all. Do you feel better now?” Toulouse asked genially as he smiled warmly at the girl.

"Na, I wouldnae recommend it. Ye get ta burn for all o' eternity wit' those little devils an' the eternal flames, not fun stuff I tell ye. As for us, we were born wit'out souls, so it's not like we 'ad a choice in the matter ye know. I'm sure Houkan would like ta be a normal teen, instead of one kissed by a devil, but what can ye do."
Rown sighed and rubbed the back of her neck with her left hand, sweeping her gaze over at her cousin who seemed to have a much larger Pasayo in his embrace, though she could not help but snicker at Toulosue's very (in her opinion) obvious acts of jealousy.
Perhaps all that the teen had been doing with Pasayo was not based on charm, hrm? She rather liked the challenging glare the youth was spouting off at her youngest cousin.
Pasayo's body naturally reacted to be touched on the small of her back, arching softly away from his hand and making her own arms move up to touch Houkan's own. She had her hands resting just above his bent elbow, her fingers trembling slightly, and as Toulouse kissed her Houkan winced as it was clear her grip tightened for just a brief moment.
All she could do in response was nod her head, what with her heart still pounding in her ears, but she managed to part his lips enough to squeak out a few polite words.
"Yes I am...very happy. I was so afraid that you and Master would be frightened of me and my growth, Master Houkan. I am strange and no longer that small child I was but a few hours ago - and it frightens me."
"No need to be scared, you just grew and that is that. I will admit that I am a little shocked by how quickly it occurred, I thought you would have had more time as a child, but this is fine too. You need to be able to live your life a little more free from my brother and I's influence."
Houkan had done his best to ignore Toulouse's actions towards Pasayo's body, so very aware of how the small girl clinging to him must be feeling inside, and just for a moment the silver around his eyes seem to crackle. The action caught the attention of Rown, who turned back away from whatever it was she was doing, and she snapped her fingers at him in a warning.
"Was it like this for you as well, Toulouse?"

Toulouse cocked his head to the side curiously while wearing a slightly vexed expression. Pasayo had obviously pulled away from him in dislike it seemed. It bothered the Ashe that she had done so. Were her feelings really not as engaged in him as much as he had been lead to believe? The teen achingly wanted to pull Pasayo into his arms again and make her not afraid, but he didn’t, not wanting her to flinch from him again. It was only a kiss after all he reminded himself. What was a kiss between friends anyhow? Toulouse was having a very hard time convincing himself of this idea no matter how many times her thought it.
With conflicting emotions racing around inside him, Toulouse donned a cool smile that smoothed out his features into an ambiguous look that gave nothing away about his inner turmoil.
“Yes it was exactly the same way.” He replied as he stuffed his hands into his back pockets to keep them from being tempted by Pasayo. “One minute I was small and the next…well you get the idea. I, however, was expecting it so I’m not surprised in the least that Pasayo was frightened. It quite a natural reaction to be honest--”
Toulouse was about to say more when Dorian cast his eye on the teen. Bottle in hand, the young man slung his free arm over the blonde’s shoulder in a overly friendly manner. “Here, Touloush. Have a drink.” This was followed by a wet smack as Dorian kissed Toulouse sloppily on the chin.
“You’re drunk.” Toulouse accused Dorian as he wrinkled his nose is disgust. He steered the young man away from Houkan and Pasayo only to push him roughly on the couch. “Stay,” The blond ordered, “And give me that rubbish.” The scotch bottle was yanked from Dorian’s grip, who wasn’t slow to complain.
Toulouse fiddled with the neck of the bottled seeming as if he would take Dorian's advice and drink from it. It would certainly make him feel like less of a heel for essentially mauling Pasayo. He told himself that he would just have to be less...eager in the future. It didn't help in the least that he kept imagining himself running his hands through Pasayo's pink hair either.
Instead of drinking, Toulouse turned back to look at Pasayo in a strained sort of way. “Anyhow there really is no need to be afraid Pasayo. Houkan is right.”
In the meantime, Dorian giggled tipsily from his seat on the couch.
