"Everywhere?" he repeated. He rolled onto his side so that he was facing her. "You're not worried that you don't have parents?" he asked. His parents had always been there since he was born and he couldn't imagine life without them. He was distracted from his train of thought by her next words. "What kind of places have you been to? What kind of helixes did you meet?" he wondered. The only places he'd been to was the area around his home, the only helixes he'd seen were his family and sometimes some other pups Ark brought over.

"Why should I worry about something I don't have? I can't change the fact I never had parents. Besides, I've made it just fine on my own. I'm alive, right?" She grinned at him. "Let's see... I've met some big helixes... Some were mean, and chased me. Others scoffed at me. There were some nice ones though. So for now, I stay away from the big ones..." She rolled over onto her belly. "I'm going to have my own pack some day you know. I'll be top dog! And I'll be nice to my pack members, and to outsiders." She frowned a little. "You'll see. I'll have the bestest pack ever."

Chance decided he liked her positive attitude. If it was him, he probably wouldn't have made it past the first few days. "You are." he agreed. "A pack? I don't think I'm good enough to make one... but I know you'll be able to." he told her, nodding his head firmly. There was no doubt in his mind that she would be a good alpha. "I've... thought about making one before. A pack, I mean. But I'm not strong enough." he admitted to her, suddenly very intrested in his paws. Then, so softly that even he had a hard time hearing himself, he said, "The world... it's too fierce for me."

Makki looked at him, a little pity in her eyes. "Chance..." Was the world really so bad to him? He had a family, they loved him. "I won't let anything bad happen to you, ok? And when I make my own pack... You're welcome to join it." She smiled. She wasn't sure if she should offer him alpha, since she vaguely recalled something about mates. Not that she knew what it was, she just wasn't sure. "I'm sure you'll get stronger. Do... do you maybe want to hunt with me?" Time for a subject change.

"All right," he said, glancing at her nervously. "I trust you." He smiled at her offer, seriously considering it. He looked up at her, believing that he really could get stronger. That is, until she said her next sentence. "Oh... I, um... don't really like to hunt." he said. Of course he had learned the basics. His parents were both good hunters after all, and he and his siblings were expected to do the same but... he shook his head, looking down again. It was so fearsome, watching them lose themselves to their bloodlust like that. He only hunted when he really had to, but preffered to just eat what his parents brought him or some fish or fruits if he had to get them himself.

"You... you don't hunt? What do you do for food then?" She tilted her head again, trying to understand him. Hunting was a basic necessity to her, and for him to say he didn't like hunting was quite a shock.
"Well, I won't make you hunt..." She was hungry, but it could wait. And then the awkward silence set in.

"I get some fruits, fish, and... stuff, I guess." he said, feeling awkward. He'd never actually talked about it before to others and at least her reaction was better than the one he'd assumed at in his head. "Thanks." he murmured, sitting up. The silence that followed soon after was unsettling and he started to clean the debris that was still on him nervously.

Makki suddenly found the ceiling very interesting, looking up at it while she spoke. "If... you like I-" she hesitated. "I could hunt for you."

"That's alright." Chance said, starting to lick a paw. "I'm not very hungry." Just then, his stomach growled and he blushed. "Or at least... not that hungry...." He really was but he didn't want to burden her. "If you want, we can get some fish." he said, since that was something he knew how to do. "And I can teach you how if you don't know." he offered, just in case.

"Fish?" She wrinkled her nose a little. "Never had that... Hey! You teach me to fish, and... maybe I'll teach you a little wrestling. You know, toughen you up a bit." She slowly got to her feet and looked back down at him.

"Yea, fish. They stink real bad if you leave them out for a while but they taste good." He stood up as well, shaking so that the rest of the dirt on him would come off. "Wrestling?" he asked, plucking a leaf out from his tail tuft. "Maybe... it sounds kind of... dangerous." He padded over to the cave tunnel again, then looked back at her. "Do I teach you to fish first or are you going to teach me westling?" he asked.

Makki smiled. "Fish first. Then we wrestle. I'll go easy though." She thought about it a moment. He had siblings, right? "And maybe you can show your... uh... brothers and sisters a thing or too!"

"Alright." he said, his voice rising already. He wasn't as shy around others when he was doing something he was used to. He chuckled a bit at her next comment, doubting but not disbeliving, before running on ahead to the cave entrance. He took a deep whiff of the wind while waiting for her, so that he would at least know where the stream was and not look stupid.

Makki was right behind him. She almost ran into him when he paused at the entrance for her. "Move it fatty." She teased. It wasn't said harshly by any means. By the slant of the sun, it was probably just after noon. A good time for fishing, right? "So where do you usually hunt? Shallow water? Deep? How do you do it?"

Chance gave a small smile at her tease. It was obvious she didn't mean it but his ears lowered slightly in response. "I, uh... usually hunt in shallow." he told her, shoving away the memory of him drowning in the deep waters. "I'm not old enough for the deep rivers yet. I'll show you." he said, motioning with his tail. He padded forward a bit to warm up before setting out for a jog. He was sure Makki could keep up since, well, she was a better runner then him. As they got closer, the sound of trickling water could be heard and they reached a shallow stream that reached up to their elbows. ((do they have elbows? well... it's where their legs bend xD)) He padded around the edge, sniffing here and there. A few fish darted past and he nodded, satisfied.
