Umicho looks down following his gave as he finds a place to finish at. "Sounds good to me. Ok here we go..." She crouches down ready to take off. "Three...." Her tail swishes back and forth behind her. "Two....." Digs her claws into the ground.

Daniel tucked his wings tightly against his back and turned, crouching to get a good running start. "One..."

As soon as Daniel says "one" she launches herself forward, kicking up a little dirt as she bolts, claws digging into the earth. She only looks forward right now hoping she can stop easily.

Daniel was off, too, sending dirt up behind him as he broke into a dead run. He took a bit longer ot get started, but once he was up to full speed he relased his wings from his back and pushed off the ground with all his might, sending him into the air with powerful beats of his wings. He was lucky to catch a bit of a draft for just a moment, nearly catching him up with Umicho is just a few powerful movements of his multi-colored wings.

She hears wings and looks up seeing Daniel above her. She digs in more and tries to run faster, but stays at the speed she is at right now. Her legs force as much as they can as Daniel catches up with her. Man he's fast she thinks to herself.

Daniel glanced down at Umicho, annoyed that he lost his updraft , and beats his wing and rhythm with four of her steps. It's beginning to make him a bit breathless, but he doesn't really want to lose...

Umicho pants heavily as they both approuch the finish line. Before she can stop herself her legs give out, just too tired to continue. From the start she had forced herself past her limit in strength.

Daniel looked down and immediately backwinged and turned himself around - Umicho had gone down. With a worried grumble deep in his throat, he lowered himself and grabbed her by the scruff of her neck, somewhat carelessly heaving her on to his back around his wings while he was still in flight. Feeling the extra weight on his back, he pumped his wings harder and pulled them back into movement, bringing her down to a rock in the middle of the rapids so the spray might awaken her, because he wasn't sure he she had passed out or not.
Since the rock was only big enough for her, he stood in the rapids, his legs bracing himself against the current, and watched her carefully, looking for any sign to tell him if she was awake or not.

When a splash of water hits her she coughs and opens her eyes, looking around frantically. "What happened? How'd I get down here? Did i fall?" She tries standing but slips on the rock and ends up on her stomach. She looks up at Daniel and notices he looks worried. "I fell didn't I?"

Daniel gave a deep exhale as she was obviously awake now, "Yes, you fell... I was worried that you passed out... I thought the water would wake you up..." He was trying to keep his wings above the water, but the feathers were starting to grow heavy. "Should we go back to the dry land now? I'll carry you~"

"We should, but you don't need to carry me. Your wings look tired." She stands and jumps to the side of the river and begins climbing up, finding foot holds and being a little stubborn.

Daniel now tucked his wings close, sending droplets of water cascading down his back as the feathers were wrung out, and helped her up over the river bank before climbing out himself in a flourish of water.

Once she gets over with Daniel's help, she shakes herself dry and looks at him sadly. "I'm so sorry about worrying you Daniel. Thank you for helping me..." She thinks for a split second, then nuzzles his snout in an appreciative manner, blushing slightly after pulling back.

Daniel couldn't help but let a soft smile slide to his face at the nuzzle, and her following blush. "No worries, but nearly killing yourself isn't particularly advisable." He may have been exaggerating... but still.
With a sly grin, he fully extending his wings, sending water in every direction, and shook it from his coat and clothes before beating his wings very clumsily a few times to get at least some of the excess water weight from them.

"I won't do that again. I promise." She backs away when he shakes himself dry with a yip. "Hey!" She laughs and pounces on him playfully. "You got me wet again. I just got dry."
