Like in rap? xd Worst genre ever... I wonder if it would have any more respect if it had interesting lyrics like Flobots...
Thats quite an ignorant statement.

MF Doom
From the corners cylindrical triangle hats
As dutch lyrics precise life wring dem from science
Leave you entangled for months
Tryin to figure who done it, you fronted
Got cha s**t stunted, didn't have to be that way
Some saw the light comin in, they shunned it
For the wickedness to those whose despise life and worship death
The established matched at eye for eye, tooth for tooth, breath to breath
These are the last days of the countdown, s**t is just that drastic
Write journals, like they use the prophets, study math like a Aztec

How is that not interesting? You cant just going around saying a whole genre sucks when you haven't even heard a forth of it.
[humbled] Wow, I never heard any rap like that... But I guess every genre has its exceptions and such that break the stereotypes...[/humbled] But you have to agree, the vast majority of rap is pointless, shallow, idiotic s**t. But it did give me a good beat for grinding with my girlfriend, I'll give it that... xd
dude, there's a difference between club rap (the s**t you grind to) and rap. there is a lot of good rap. check out dirt, krs-one, public enemy, digable planets, schoolly d, and even some of the hardcore artists like NWA, ice t, ice cube, and mos def and you'll see what i'm talking about.
Or the funny entertaining stuff like like Bus Driver or Del tha Funkee Homosapien
yeah, too much of the serious stuff will leave you depressed

I would, but I don't have much money, and the money I do have I'm going to use to get more into sludge metal... So much good music to listen to, such a lack of resources to do so... cry
Well you can always listen to it free on the internet with websites like Myspace, Youtube, and Last.fm.

Well yeah I can listen to it, but I want to be able to put it on my iPod. And this is my parents' computer, and they don't let me download any programs or stuff like that... So I guess I'll just go on using iTunes... stare

Same here. Do you also keep a physical list of the music you want, which you systematically cross entries off of? xd

Yes.
Mine is about 3 pages long and I always keep it by the computer. It looks quite intimidating...

My opinion goes with what Warrior said. As long as it does demean my religion I am good with it. Although I do not like lyrics with a lot of sexual content in it.

I must say I agree with you in terms of demeaning religion in music, especially metal. It really gets me angry when I see a band that sounds awesome, then they go and say "God is evil, down with God, Christians are stupid, blah, blah, blah". I don't think religion should be put down like that. It's the people in it that make it look so bad. But other than that, I don't really care too much for the lyrics. To be honest, I got into metal because of so many guitar solos I heard! I love guitar solos or good instrumentation in general, since I'm a musician myself.

Good opinion. So you like guitar solos, huh? What bands do you listen to?

Can I be honest with you guys for a minute again? When I joined this forum, I thought people would like hate me for my views on music that's Anti-Religion. I was kinda afraid to even say anything about it. So I must thank you guys for not like ridiculing me of my faith as I don't push my faith down people's throats.

Sure. Not all Christians are like my girlfriend's dad. Who happens to be an evangelical pastor. With seven black-belts. sweatdrop He scares me... If he and his wife had lived in another time, they would have been Crusaders... You seem fine, though. mrgreen

1) you can always be honest with us here
2) even the non-religious people around here seem to be of the opinion that no one should force their beliefs on anyone else, which is a good belief to have. we may get involved in friendly debates from time to time, but we aren't trying to force our beliefs on anyone.
3) i had a third thing to say but i forgot what it was. i have chosen to represent my third point anyway by making it known that i had one lol

Lol, yeah the first time I made the State Your Beliefs thread I was worried people might leave, but everyone was pretty cool about. Not saying that a member here or there hasn't ever said something ignorant, that's just unavoidable. Don't EVER be afraid to voice your opinion in my guild no matter what it is, as long as we all stay respect towards each other no harm will come of it.
