Lloyd ran until he felt the temperature begin to drop. He stopped and then began walking along the border heading east. After several yards he began heading south. He stopped when he was about half-way to the river and sat down. He would be able to see Ama's white fur through the trees.

Running and following his scent she trotted along. Suddenly she felt the temperature start to drop. Shivering slightly she came to a stop and looked around. Was Lloyd insane? It was getting colder and she didn't want to hang around here when it got darker. Deciding she would go after him and hopefully find him before it got any colder. Running forward more she suddenly felt it get really cold. Stopping she knew she couldn't go any further and felt a sadness rise up within her. "Good-bye then Lloyd. Maybe we'll meet again." Turning around she walked back the way she had gone hoping the weather would soon get warmer.

Lloyd watched through the trees and saw Ama go running by. He sighed and then followed after her. He made sure to keep some distance between them so she wouldn't see him. He watched as she began to notice the cold but not the borderline. She must not know about it. When she said goodbye and turned back, he began to walk over to her. "Who said I left? I was still testing you." He said shaking his head, "Well let's go before we end up in the Northern territory."

Startled Ama jumped when she heard Lloyd's voice. Turning around she pounced on him and licked his face. "You surprised me I thought you left me!" The Northern territory? Isn't that the evil place? I thought it was only a place in stories."

Lloyd chuckled while gently shaking his head. "No I only went around so I could watch you." He said smiling, "I was testing you to see if you would notice the colder temperature and perhaps if you knew where the border is." He sighed and shook his head once more. "The Northern territory isn't all that evil. It's just a really harsh land to live in. Plus the leader of the North isn't all that great..... He could be considered evil."

"I see. I don't know who would want to live in the cold willingly. I much prefer a mild climate over a hot or cold one." Looking up at the sky she sniffed gently. "Shall we go? I don't think Ferey would be to pleased with me being so far away. And maybe you can help me figure out something. Ferey is a white fox who can speak the same language we do but I can't figure out it's gender. Maybe since you're older you'll know. Think you can help me?" Looking at him with pleading eyes she waited for his response.

Lloyd nodded and started heading back. "Well I like my hot climate of the South." He said, "It makes my old bones feel good." He smiled and sighed happily as he thought of the heat. Looking back at her, when she asked him if he could help her figure something out, he nodded with a smile. "Sure I'll help you. Although I don't know if I'll be able to tell but I'll try."

"It's fine if you can't. I've been with Ferey for many months now and I still can't tell. Ferey is very hard to pin a gender on I think." Glancing at him Ama smiled. "Oh Lloyd....." Moving closer she smiled wider. ".....Last one back to the river is old buck!" Breaking into the fastest run she could muster Ama made sure to push the male hard before she broke into her fast pace.

Lloyd nodded listening to her talk about Ferey. "Your friend may be like that." He said pausing at her challenge. He scoffed and watched her race off. He then laughed and broke into a run. Since he was on a straight path he was able to put on an extra burst of speed. His legs would not be happy with him later though.

Laughing she knew she had little to no chance of winning. He was older and stronger but that wouldn't keep her from trying. Besides the whole reason to this run was to get to Ferey quicker for she had a feeling it was looking for her and that it was very irritated.

Lloyd began to slow down as the ache in his bones flared up. He huffed and puffed as he tried to catch his breath. "Looks like I've reached my limit." He muttered as he walked the rest of the way to the river.

Feeling the older one slow down Ama slowed to a trot. She knew she would actually win this race but still she had to get to Ferey. "Want me to slow down more?" Yelling over her shoulder she hoped Lloyd heard her call.

Lloyd shook his head when Ama slowed down. "No! You go on ahead. I'll catch up." He yelled back to her. He kept his slow pace hoping the fire in his bones will go away.

"You sure? I don't want to get to far ahead of you." Not moving to far ahead she continued to trot along.

Lloyd shook his head with a laugh. "It's okay. I'll be fine. Just need to catch my breath." He called. He smiled at Ama's kindness and liked her even more for that. He noticed that she had hardly moved from before and rolled his eyes. Looks like he'll end up catching up to her just by walking.
