I thought it was funny how they were all talking about hats. Like, "Today we take off our Republican hats... and put on our American hats!"
And then they all cheer.
There is really only so much convention one can take, I don't really take interest unless its a debate. O.o
I would like to take a moment to say that I am strongly anti-palin. She believes that you shouldn't tell kids how to have safe sex and then they won't do it. This theory is retarted, I mean, her 17 year old daughter is pregnant.
Also, I live in texas and they decided that they would show demonstrations about contraceptives but could only tell teenagers how often they fail. And now texas has the highest pregnancy rate in the country. >.<
Back to palin's daughter being pregnant, how do you think people would look at it if it was obamas daughter?
And I used to like mccain, but I think he's gone back on a lot of his old beliefs when he decided he wanted to be president.
The whole senator mccain vs. candidate mccain issue.
I don't think you should choose a person based on religion or gender or color. But how they can effect the nation. And I really really want some democratic judges in supreme court.

We're not making PROGRESS in the Iraq war. It's a moneysucker, and we can't give them democracy. We CAN'T and it doesn't matter how hard we try.
And Obama's PROMISED not raising taxes for families that make under 100k a year. McCain is almost always for G. Bizzle's economy policies, and G. Bizzle thinks that rich people need to pay less. :/
My family did FINE during Clinton as prez. Not saying he was brilliant or not, just saying we were doing fine. We didn't change our way of living at all, and we had a foreclosure last year. We're a barely middle class family and the housing market has become DESTROYED as of late.
Obama is a celebrity? Obama is NEW to poilitics, he has as little corruption as possible. I think that he's become SO famous because of his being black, his being new, and his promise of hope. I love Obama because he gives me HOPE. That maybe it wouldn't suck as much to live here if he was president. That maybe Ezzy can get married and we can actually have Gun Control laws that make sense and we can get rid of Don't Ask Don't Tell, and that we can actually CONCENTRATE ON THE ENVIRONMENT and look for better renewable oil sources. That we can encourage civil rights improvement in China and not bully our way around. That we can NOT HAVE PREEMPTIVE WAR.
Maybe if we didn't have Bush my mom could have supported our house on her own, or been able to get a new one, so she could have gotten out of her terrible marriage 5 years sooner than she is now.
I support Obama for very personal reasons. :/
THEY'RE CONSERVATIVE. We need change. God, we need change. I'm moving to Canada either way, but if McCain/Palin win I'm going to move there faster. Like this isn't an empty threat, I'm seriously moving to Canada. And it's not a threat.. xD

From what I've read, Obama was born to an athiest and a muslim, muslim dad left and returned to Kenya, mom remarried to a radical muslim and then went to Indonesia and enrolled into a muslim school.
Actually, to be honest, I don't really care about his religion either.
What I care about is the fact that he's only recently joined a "Christian" church, not terribly long before running for office in America. If he was born and raised muslim, why switch churches so abruptly? I haven't seen anything that would lead me to believe he had any personal conviction that would drive him to switch like that. It pretty much tells me that he doesn't put much stock in religion, so it doesn't make sense to me that he's in a church at all unless it's for show.

On the contrary, Pixie, religion is what got Bush his eight years in the White House. Unfortunately, that's all that a large number of conservative Christians care about: is their representative a Christian who shares their beliefs? The candidates even had a debate in a mega church, for crying out loud.
guess who the audience was most pleased with?
In other news, Ret, you might want to find more current articles than those articles of yours. Both of those "twenty reasons" lists are from March, and a lot of things have changed.
Also, if you look at the sources of funding for both candidates... they're kind of the same. EVERYBODY's in the proverbial "corporate pocket" with that sort of logic of "if a company donates, the candidate is in their pocket, lol".
What concerns me is that McCain is trying to win this election the same way that Bush did - their appellations are very similar, their tactics... the same. I personally think that McCain made a very bad selection of a running mate - seeing as how she's the most vocal on religious hot topics and doesn't have much of a plan for anything else (but that's what conservative Christians want... so maybe it's the best choice for them). I wouldn't want Palin as my president. On the other hand, if you've followed the conventions, Obama totally picked the person who has been the most critical of him from the start to run with him. That shows some moxie - he's inexperienced, sure, but he's willing to take with him to the White House one of the more experienced members of Congress...
Yeah, my vote lies with Obama. lol

Obama.
I've seen all of Obama's speech at the Dem. convention and so far half of McCain's in my Part. in Gov. class. That, and I've paid a bit of attention, although I still can't vote. (*Is 17, so close* gonk )
First of all: In Sweetness's opinion, Dem. > Rep. Always. Maybe that makes me a tad close-minded. I dunno. I grew up watching Bush's speeches, then watching the country go down the toilet. If that doesn't turn you off of Republicans for life, I dun know what will. I know I shouldn't compare all Republicans to Bush right off the bat, but meh. I just don't have conservative/religious views, I think we should steer clear of that.
Second: Okay, so Obama wants to increase gov. spending, but doesn't have a plan to get us outta debt. So what. Who does? And McCain's plan is to sprint toward ruin like an Olympic event by staying in the war that got us obscenely into debt in the first place (For a hundred years, if he feels we have to) AND cut rich peoples taxes.
Third: Maybe Obama is a bit of a celebrity. But have you SEEN McCain smile? He looks evil. Maybe its just the SGer in me( ninja ), but he looks like he's plotting unspeakable evils. Especially in his acceptance speech when he says "My dear friends, please don't be diverted by the ground noise and the static." when a protester made a itsy-bitsy scene(which seriously pissed me off. But I think its funny that half of the convention hall was full of protesters.).
That and McCain used his pauses to read his speech off the paper in front of him. If you watch Obama, he never looks down once. Maybe its silly, but I think there's something to be said for someone who doesn't need to look down at a paper "Hey, what's my views again and how did I decide I wanted to say them...?"
Added on because I can: I wants Ezzy and those of my friends who are gay to be able to marry too!! heart
I could go on, but I won't because politics isn't all that fun. And its perfectly fine if you guys don't agree with me, just promise me none of you will ever campaign to be president, because then I'd have to not like you either way.
Side-note: Me and my cousin, after watching half of McCain's speech, agreed that if he wins, we're leaving the country. I know it sounds (and probly is) a little extreme, but I'm thinking that this just won't end well. We have no idea where, we're just getting out. Any suggestions as to where?

I'm voting Obama. Its an easy choice really. Continue the failing government through McCain, or go with the breath of fresh air that is Obama. He wants to change what isn't working, instead of ignoring the problem.
I really don't care about the religious aspect, and I also don't really understand why it is so important to some people. The First Bloody Amendment states that the government shall make no laws based on religion, or Separation of Church and State in so many words. I'm Jewish, and according to our law you are allowed to abort a pregnancy until the baby is 2/3 out of the mother's body. I know that to most that would be taking a life, but it is our law. Why should another faith swoop in and start attacking us for something in our law, when they are not pure themselves. "Let he without sin cast the first stone."

Maggeh would side with Obama rather than McCain. That's not to say that McCain is bad - in fact, I consider him to be better than what we might have gotten.
Giuliani? All that ******** can talk about is 9/11. It's ******** 9/11 this and 9/11 that. He's a ******** 7/11 of 9/11. Better McCain than him. Yet, McCain is... what was the term? Oh, yes. MORE OF THE SAME. A man who agreed 95% of the time with Bush. A man who can't really stand up for what he used to stand up for. He was a maverick, but now he's just another bygone lackey who threw away his values so he could try and be president.
"Hey, guys, we just need to stay in Iraq for 100 more years or longer! Just keep throwing soldiers in to their deaths until we manage to finally restore peace in there! Let the future generation worry about the death toll. I'm old. I'mma die soon anyways, so what does it matter to me?"
Still, McCain was right on one thing. He said he'd find a corrupt politician who wasted or frittered money on pork-barrel spending and make that politician famous. Hell, seeing as she went from a Governor of Alaska to his running mate, I'd say she became extremely famous. Then again, I don't think this was the type of famous McCain was talking about.
What I find EXTREMELY hypocritical of the Republican Party at this moment is how they're dealing with Sarah Palin at this moment. Until a while ago, it was "Obama is not experience enough" and "Hilary is playing the gender card". Now, what? They're trying to defend Sarah Palin by making it seem like she has loads and loads of experience and claiming that she's being unfairly attacked because of her gender.
Moreover, the situation with abortion. Because she's pro-life, everyone must adhere to her values? If a woman is raped, then she has to have that baby against her own will? She has no choice in that matter? Yet, at the same time, Palin's daughter is pregnant at 17, and she's telling the press to respect her daughter's choice to keep the baby and allow the family their privacy. So, her daughter gets the choice, but all those other people don't? In this aspect, she's just like Cheney - a ******** hypocrite. Cheney was all for screwing over the homosexuals, and then his daughter is one, and he when interviewed, he tells people that it's none of their ******** business. All Sarah Palin needs to get a gun (which shouldn't be hard for her, since she supports the right to bear arms) and shoot Harry Whittington in the face and finish what d**k started. Oh, and like Cheney she doesn't support gay marriage.
I don't want that b***h as the vice-president. I sure as hell don't want her as president.
Sarah Palin once asked what the difference between a hockey mom and a bulldog was. The answer? A bulldog may slobber, but even bulldogs don't slobber as much as she does, power-hungry b***h as she is.
I don't want religion to be in politics. I don't want decisions to be based on faith. If Scientologists were in power, would we have some ******** space program designed to go fight Xenu (or whatever the ******** that is) because Scientology dictates that we should?
I admit, I am biased. I tend to lean towards Democrats than Republicans, liberals over conservatives and I generally hate the extremely religious people in politics with all their "God said homosexuality is bad, so it's a sin" and "We must respect life, so no stem-cell research and abortions for you! But we're totally fine with sending people to die in Iraq" s**t. I'm the type that listens to the Daily Show and the Colbert Report. In fact, I get most of my news by watching their shows which, as I am aware, is not a good thing, since I'm basically being somewhat led by the views of Stewart and Colbert. Yet, my defense is that they don't just create random propaganda bullshit like, say, Papa Bear O'Reilly or Fox News. They actually attack the s**t that's wrong with the government. It's not their really as much their fault than it is the fault of the politicians that are corrupt and do stuff that gets them lampooned on their shows.
Don't take me as some extremist liberal, though. >_> Three of my best friends are Christians, I'm Catholic (though not by choice; I went to a Catholic middle school and was too much of a wimp to refuse the converting) and my grandparents (on my mother's side) support Republicans. I think my grandparents on my dad's side are religious, too. Not really sure.
Then again, this s**t don't matter to me. I live in Canada, and I'm a Korean who's set to return to Korean in one or two years.
@ All of you who plan to leave if McCain wins Come to Canada! We might be pansies, but we have affordable health care! Plus, we speak all French (<- This is a stereotype and not really true).

Pixie Saylor Honestly, no idea the ******** would happen if Obama's kid got preggerz. I wouldn't really give a s**t. :3 I think that we SHOULD leave Palin's daughter alone and focus on Palin. However, what I like is the hypocrisy of Sarah Palin's position on sex and contraceptives and abortion next to the effect it's had on her daughter. If one of Obama's daughters were of appropriate age and had gotten pregnant, it would be evidence of his ideas of teaching contraception in schools as not working, but we wouldn't keep talking about it. We shouldn't.

I've been trying to learn about politics biggrin It kinda hasnt been working, I think I got brainwashed as a kid. My parents are hardcore republicans and while they always supported me and my brothers when it came to having our own thoughts and said if we ever wanted to be democrats they would be fine with that, I think they still accidentally brainwashed me.
Obama and McCain can say the same thing I will think that McCain is right, but Obama is wrong. And I'm conscious of it so I SHOULD be able to stop it...but I'm trying to be fair and its just not working.
I'm fine with staying in Iraq. I think we should keep a close eye on them. I mean they hate us and they are crazy right? I know its only the extremists but still... I dont know like anything about Iraq because I havent paid attention, but whenever I do watch the news it seems like they are doing crazy, violent, horrible things. And yes its only a few people who do it, not the whole nation, but its enough to cause concern. I wouldnt be surprised if the second we leave there they charge straight torward America with an attack 100 times worse then 9/11. I thinks its way better to be safe then sorry. I'm ok with staying in Iraq forever if we have to. Yes we lose lives. But how many more lives would be lost if we left and then got attacked? And then of course we would attack back. And it would be a huuuuge war and it would be even more horrible then it is now.
