Ligeia moved over to get the container that held the Ceviche and carried it to where the bowls were waiting. He opened the container up, inhaling deeply and then smiled, "Wow, that smells really good." He said, eyes going wide as he started to dish it up for the both of them. He only took a half a bowl so that he could try some of the other food as well. It all looked and smelled so good he couldn't resist having some of each.
He turned to take the chip from Mariel when it was offered to him, smiling, "Thank you." He said, taking a bite then turned to hold the bowl of ceviche out to Mariel, "Alright, here is your bowl." He said, getting some of the meat stew for himself, "And here is mine, shall we sit with the trio out back? Or do we have to worry about the dogs trying to take our food?" It might be best to eat inside if Ebony and his friend might try to pilfer food from Mariel.

Mariel took the bowl happily and thought for a moment..well they had fed the dogs quite a bit, so they might not try to steal food today...and it was a nice day outside....and its not everyday you get to have a huge dragon in your back yard, yeah her mind was made up rather quickly.
"outside! When doggies full, they sleep." Mariel smiled and began to slowly walk outside, she looked back often to make sure Ligeia was following. She was secretly happy that he took both kinds of food, so then super heroes ate EVERYTHING!! that was good, if she was gonna be a super hero too then at least she knew she could eat everything. there was not going to be a specific diet to follow. That was reasuring, since she especialy liked fish, if fish couldnt be on the diet then she might have to reconsider her career choice. But it wasnt so she was happy.
Mariel happily walked outside and pointed at the dogs. They were almost comical, both were lying on their side next to their bowls, stomachs inflated. They looked almost dead, except that they were breathing and twitching. There was no dbout they were asleep, but she did have to wonder about Vorel.
"Vorel still hungry?" Mariel asked questioningly, she didnt know how much dragons ate and so she wondered if dog amounts would be sufficient.

Ligeia followed along after her, unable to resist taking a couple bites of the food as he walked. It smelled to good for him to have to wait then entire walk back to the back yard. He looked the dogs over, giving a little giggle when he found them passed out with full bellies, "They look happy." He said with a laugh, moving to sit down Vorel.
The dragon looked over at the little girl and gave a nod of his head, eyeing the bowl she was holding until Ligeia gave him a little nudge, "Let Mariel eat too Vorel." He told the dragon, "We can get you plenty more to eat when we go home, as much as you like."
Vorel gave a nod then laid down, as much as he wanted more his boy was right. At D-Corp it was all one could eat when you were a dragon.

Mariel smiled as she saw that Vorel was satisfied as well, it was then that she decided that she could sit and eat in comfort. Everyone had food and everyone was happy now. Life is good. She went to sit near Ligeia and Vorel, she still had lots of questions for the both of them. She munched her food as she thought about it, slowly chewing, letting the taste tingle the inside of her cheeks as she wondered what to ask first.
She decided that maybe Vorels ice cream addiction was the first thing she should ask about. Afterall she had never heard of dragons eating ice cream! Didnt they usually eat young ladies, or heaps of raw meat?! Vorel was not like any dragon she had ever read about....maybe it was because he was a superhero sidekick...well maybe he was too big for a sidekick, maybe he was a superhero too...But then again superheroes did not eat ice cream too.
She swallowed her current mouthfull and then smiled. "Why does Vorel turn his food to ice cream?"

Ligeia looked up at Vorel and then gave a thoughtful sound, "I think... maybe its something they do to preserve their food." He guessed, "If they hunted something really big like a whale they couldn't eat it all at one time so they froze it. Then after a while they grew to enjoy frozen food and it got to be a natural thing for their kind of dragon. At least I am pretty sure that is the reason... I guess the only way to know for sure would be to ask Mr. Coleman, the dragon teacher."
He took a bite of the fish mixture and chewed it, swallowing, "Your mother is an amazing cook." He said, sounding in awe of how good the food was.

Mariel thought over what Ligeia had told her, hmn well if Vorels ancestors had invented ice cream, and then decided they liked it, it made sense that they would eat it forever. She smiled a little at the thought of Vorel tackling a whale, from what she heard all whales were HUGE, and Vorel was pretty big but he might get eaten. She didnt want that so she was glad she could feed him so he wouldnt have to eat whales.
When Ligeia mentioned Lunas cooking Mariel smiled.
"Cooking is her religeon." She said matter-of-factly, and then added in a whisper "Its scared." Luna always went on and on to Mariel about the importance of a meal and spices and how to time things and what to cook with what, which food was apropriate for which occasion......sometimes mariel just thought that Luna liked to hear herself talk. But Luna always rounded back to how sacred cooking was and how the kitchen was a shrine to the family, the hearth to keep all sentiments warm....or something like that. But yes the kitchen was treated much like a temple when Luna was around, but Mariel didnt mind, because as far as she could tell sacred food was better than other kinds. She swallowed another mouthfull and looked at Ligeia quizzicaly.
"I guess that means cooking is my religeon too.....whats yours? Do superheroes have a special Religeon?" Mariel really had no idea what Religeon was, Luna had mentioned once how cooking should be treated like religeon so she assumed it was one. To Mariel religeon was more like a code of conduct, she didnt know any better but she had heard of Chivalry, and crazy and assumed those were religeons too...she wondered what superheroes followed.

Ligeia paused between bites of his food, looking over at Mariel with surprised eyes. She was a very smart girl wasn't she? To ask such questions of him. He seemed to be thinking it over for a long moment, starring at his food bowl, "That's a good question, I don't think I have ever thought about it before. I devote myself to a few things, to Vorel, to my Magic, and to those around me. I can't said there is one specific thing that I find the most important to consider it something sacred though." He twirled his spoon between his fingers.
He had never thought to completely devote himself to one thing and one thing only, he was constantly pulled in many directions, "I think being a... ahh... Super Hero makes it so that I can't, to many things I need to take care of."
Very smart little girl, asking questions that made him think really hard and consider such things so seriously. He gave Mariel a smile then, impressed by her, "I bet you will do very well in your future classes, you seem very, very smart."

So super Heroes didnt have a religeon then, hmn...Mariel thought it over. What Ligeia said made sense, afterall if he devoted himself to cooking like Luna did then he wouldnt be able to save people, well maybe if they were hungry he could...But he save all kinds of people right?! She blushed at the compliment, he thought she was smart! She didnt exactly see why, these were things she talked to Luna about, didnt all kids talk about these things?! It was almost strange for her to be complimented because she was so used to being treated as (almost) an adult by Luna.
Mariel smiled and blushed a little before hiding her face in her food. There really wasnt much left of it, and being a small child her tummy was growing full quickly. When her plate was empty she rushed it into the kitchen and then came back out and took her place next to Vorel. She really did like the dragon alot, it was almost Just that he would be the only one of his kind, afterall he was royalty right? So if there were more than one there would be fights, and that was bad. She began to pet him and scratch him again, he was just like a large dog to her. Most likely this was why she felt so comfortable around him, he was juts like Ebony....er...well bigger and colder, but relatively the same.
"You can get more if you want." Mariel smiled as she made sure Ligeia wouldnt have to stop eating just because she did. Luna would prabably send them home with the leftovers anyway since the dogs were full. Then her mind wandered back to what Ligeia had said about classes. She would be in school soon, she would have to take classes and learn things, she assumed she would learn how to cook and clean, and of course be introduced to her super power like Ligeia. She wondered what kind she would have, or if she would even be good at it...then suddenly it hit her, she should ask Ligeia!!
She turned to him and paused her scratching of Vorel for a moment.
"What do you learn in class?" She asked with wide and curious eyes.

The owl shook his head when he finally finished off what was all in his bowl, "I would love to get more but I am already so full from what I already ate." It was a shame, such good food but he would rather not over eat and end up with a stomach ache. He set his spoon in the bowl and let it rest on his lap as he turn his attention to Mariel's question, "The first sort of thing you will learn in class is a Skill, my father teaches them." He was quite proud of his father, one could tell by his tone of voice, "He is one of the first teachers that students get to meet."
He looked thoughtful, "After that there are fighting classes of various kinds, magic classes, classes where you learn about dragons and what they can do, then there are classes where you learn more about what your DNA animal is like. There are a lot of interesting classes, a lot of neat teachers, and you get to make lots of friends among the other students."
Vorel nodded, "I like the dragon classes best, the others are boring for dragons." He told Mariel as though she would understand.
"Vorel prefers the classes where he gets to learn things." He translated.

Mariel leaned towards Ligeia as he spoke, all of her attention was on him. She was so excited that she would be able to learn all these things. It was almost too good to be true! All of the subjects sounded so foreign to her and it made her fur prickle in excitement, but something Ligeia said puzzled her. She had animal DNA?....did everyone have that? Maybe only superheroes had animal DNA...but what kind did she have? She looked at her arm for a moment and for the first time noticed her fur. Luna had always treated her like a child and so she assumed she ws the same as Luna...was she different?
Vorels voice brought her out of her thoughts. She was very close to him still and her hand on his neck could feel the rumbling in his throat when he spoke. She didnt understand but it sounded funny when he spoke. She giggled and nodded as Ligeia translated. It must be part of their superhero powers to understand each other. That was a power she couldnt wit to learn. She wanted to be able to know what Vorel was saying. So then Dragons got to learn things to! Well this certainly was interesting stuff. Mariel knew she would have tons of questions for Luna when she got home, but for now the only one who could satisfy her curiosity was Ligeia since she couldnt understand Vorel.
Her thoughts turned back to the DNA question...she really wasnt sure what DNA was but it sounded important, and she knew what animals were...so....maybe it was the source of her power?! He said she had to learn about it right?! She decided to ask.
"Whats DNA? Is it my power? Is that why I have to learn about it?"
She remembered that Ligeia had mentioned having a father who was a teacher. She almost smaked her head, OF COURSE he would have a teacher as a father, here he was as a superhero scout and she hadnt seen it coming. She wondered what kind of a man Ligeias father was like. In her mind she saw Ligeia but older, with different clothes and much larger wings, he was also flanked by a dragon. At first she imagined a dragon just like Vorel but twice as big, but then she remembered that Vorel was the only one of his kind....but the man was a teacher......so then he should have a different dragon. She remembered a statue that Luna had in their bathroom. It was a long dragon with no wings, but it was very beautiful and elegant, and it was gold with red face markings. She decided that would be a proper dragon for a teacher and inher minds eye replaced vorel with that dragon, only much bigger than the statue in the bathroom. She was confident that she had the image of Ligeias father now and she smiled in delight.
"Your father sounds very good." Mariel added after she had imagined what he would look like. Ligeias proud tone made the image of his father sparkle with magic. Ligeia made him sound like a great man and so like only the imagination can, she saw a great man.
She wondered about the dragon classes, what did they learn? Would her dragon go with her to all her classes? Well Vorel didnt seem to like school, but mariel wondered why. it sounded like such a wonderful place, with friends and powers and dragons, how could he not like it!?
"What does Vorel Learn?" But after a thought she added, "Is that where they taught him to make ice cream?"

Ligeia nodded, "In a way its your power, it gives you certain things that only you can do. Like my owl DNA make it so that I can see at night, I can fly, and the cold really doesn't bother me all that much." He explained, using himself as example so that she could better understand what he meant. He looked her over, unsure what sort of animal DNA she had so he couldn't guess what sorts of skills she might have acquired through it.
The owl's wings gave a happy little flutter, "Yes, he is very good." He said, not taking into account he may be a little biased given that Orpheus was his father.
"He knew how to do it a little himself but he learned how better to use his icy breath from the teacher, he was also shown how to play hide and seek really well." He told her, leaving out the part about Vorel learning to fight because he didn't want Mariel to worry and think that the dragon was in any way dangerous. Vorel was a very good, very sweet dragon and he didn't want anyone to think otherwise.

Mariel was excited about finding out what her power was, she smiled and looked at herself. She brought her tail forward and started to pet it a bit. She always liked her tail, it was so soft and bushy...Ligeia had a tail! Maybe she was an owl too! No wait she didnt have wings...did all owls have wings? But he had a funny tail, it had long straight things, it wasnt soft like hers. SO maybe they would have different powers. Mariel walked in a circle and tried to look at all of herself. But alas she couldnt exactly see all of herself.
The only animal that she knew by heart was a dog...maybe she was a dog like Ebony! He had a bushy tail right! She thought about it. But ebony didnt like seafood like she did, EBony always ate meat and kibble..kibble is nasty, she had tried it once when Luna wasnt looking. So maybe she wasnt a dog either. She definately wasnt a dragon! She was to fluffy...but Vorel was fluffy, but only partly. Mariels knowledge of animals had reached its edge and so she could think of no animal that she could possibly be! At this rate she would never practice her power!!She gave Ligeia an expectant look, as if he would know what she was. Afterall he went to school! Maybe Vorel would know, she petted him again and wondered. But like every child as Ligeia kept talking her thoughts went to what he was talking about.
"Vorel can play hide and seek?!" Mariel was excited, it just made Vorel that much more valuable in her eyes. Not only was he beautiful and fluffy but he could play games too! She wondered if it was hard for him since he was so big. But he was a dragon, and Ligeia had special powers, maybe they used that when they played.
"Is it hard for vorel to hide? He is very big." Mariel stated, as both a question and a fact. She was curious to see Vorel hide, the largest thing in her back yard was a tree, and maybe the Rose bushes were the longest thing, but she couldnt imagine Vorel hiding very well behind them...He was big, and bright white!

"I think he would have a harder time doing the hiding part but hes pretty good at the seeking part of the game." Ligeia explained to Mariel, "He has a good sense of smell and he uses it to find things that are hiding from him." He wondered if seeking through smell was considered cheating in Hide and Seek or not but the owl wasn't sure, he didn't think so.
"He had the most fun playing the game in the Snow Room at D-Corp. It made it easier for me to hide from him more interesting for him to try to find me."
Vorel gave a nod and a grin, that had been a great class! His tail wagged behind him as he recalled the fun game that he had gotten to play with his owl. He wanted to try that again sometime, "Maybe we can all play that in the snow sometime?" He asked of Ligeia.
"Hmmm, maybe. Vorel was just asking if you wanted to play Snow Hide and Seek sometime, maybe when you visit D-Corp?"

Mariel was excited! Playing hide and seek with a dragon was definately a once in a lifetime experience that she would NOT want to mis out on. She smiled and Gave ligeia such a happy look! The dragon would have to sniff her out. She could just imagine him sniffing around like Ebony did when he was looking for a long forgotten bone. OH it would be so much fun! But as she thought about it more her hapiness turned to curiosity.
"Whats snow?" she asked. She had never heard the word before. Luna always claimed tolive in hot climates and so the only other thing besides sun was rain. But sun and rain were completely different words from snow.
"Why is snow in a room? Is it a toy? or a color?" The thought popped into her head, if snow could be kept in a room then maybe it was a toy, that owuld make sense. Of course colors did too but they werent as fun, afterall their Luna called their Den the Blue room because of the blue walls. Maybe snow was like that too. Mariel still wanted to play hide and seek and she was still UBER happy that she got invited, but this whole snow comcept had her baffled! She wanted to know!!

Ligeia looked a little surprised, "You don't know what snow is?" He asked, seeming to be thinking about that for a long moment and whispered, "I can show you if you keep it a secret." He knew he wasn't supposed to be use his magic like he did, to show it off a bit to other people. To show Mariel snow made for good practice in control to be able to do something of that size.
He rose up to his feet, "Vorel, will you help me show Mariel what snow is?" He asked his Frost dragon.
The Frost nodded, getting up to his feet and drew in a deep breath and a moment later fog started to trail out of his mouth as he got ready to lend his help.
