Dear Diary,
Vienne says that Uncle Charlie and Uncle Robbie have a little girl now! Except that I don't get to meet her yet. I'm not sure why, but it has something to do with work. Nobody tells me anything and it's terribly annoying.
My very first violin recital is coming up soon! The Young Ladies Society is hosting a party and I'll get to play a piece. There will be other girls from my manners class doing the piano and singing and dancing. Oh! Dancing! Dancing is not easy with my tail, because it bangs into things. Vienne enrolled me in ballet, but that was a horrible nightmare.
I haven't had any more dragon classes yet. I've been practicing really, really hard on my color changing, though! I'm getting good! I can do textures now, so I can blend in with the grass. I want to call Yeesha, she was so nice and I miss her. I still haven't learned how to swim. It's getting hot again and I really want to. I guess Vienne will probably make me take swimming lessons, too. Being a princess is really, really hard work.
But Vienne has promised that when I get a little older I'll have a real coming out party! She said something about "debs" but I didn't really understand what she meant about it. I hope my dragon can come out with me too! I hope my dragon comes. I feel like I've been waiting for it forever. I don't even know if it will be a boy or a girl.
I hope I get to meet my new cousin soon, too!

D-Corp - I have recieved your letter and I cannot say that I am pleased at the prospect of having a dragon running loose in my home. I hope you are aware that I, personally, hold your company responsible for any damages done.
That being said, Ana is a fine child. She has been attending finishing classes with other young ladies her age and she is becoming quite adept with manners and understanding some of the finer points in life. Her posture is much improved and she no longer runs around the halls like a herd of wild elephants. When she is old enough, we will be having a coming-out party for her. She is polite and demure, just as a young lady should be (though I suspect she sometimes has dreams of wild adventure that I haven't yet been able to curb.)
Ana's color changing abilities have come quite a long way, she has been practicing devoutly. She can now not only change her color at will, but she is also becoming adept at imitating patterns and textures. Ana's great love is her violin and she is quite advanced for her level - just as I would expect any member of the Harte family to be.
Ana's hair has grown longer, it now reaches midway down her back. She likes to wear it partially pulled back or fully down. She wears dresses, as is appropriate for a young lady. Anything with lace or petticoats sends her into a paroxysm of joy which probably explains why she adores the sweet lolita style. Her favorite color still is and will probably always be pink.
Ana remains a sweet, good-natured and obedient girl even though she sometimes seems too eager to please. She will learn in time not to wear her heart on her sleeve so much. Emotions, after all, should not be expressed inapropriately. All in all, if you had to saddle me with a child I'm very glad that I have Ana as she is a dear girl. I am still displeased about the dragon issue.
Sincerely, Vivienne Harte.

Ana clutched the paper tightly in her hands. It was a special paper, it said her dragon would be coming soon! She could barely contain herself, excitement made her want to scream and run around in circles until she got dizzy and dance for joy. Her dragon! Was coming! Soon! She'd been waiting so long for it, and finally it was happening.
Of course, she couldn't actually run around and dance and scream, as Vienne was standing there with her. Vienne didn't approve of little girls publicly airing their excitement or exuberance. That was something you did in the privacy of your bedroom where nobody could see you. Ana had been attending finishing classes and she understood. High society had certain expectations. And she desperately wanted to meet those expectations and make Vienne proud and happy. Ana did not want Vienne to get rid of her. Ana also did not want Vienne to find out the sort of things she did in the privacy of her room. The programs she watched and the books she read and hid under the mattress. Adventure, fantasy, sci-fi. These were not appropriate. She didn't even write about them in her diary in case she got found out.
Staying contained was difficult today of all days, Ana let her excess energy flood into her tail, which curled and uncurled restlessly. She danced slightly from foot to foot, causing the petticoats of her dress to bounce up and down slightly. They were getting the space ready for her dragon!
The greenhouse was large and climate-controlled, attatched to the west wing of the house for the best evening sunlight. It was already muggy and and warm so it should be a perfect home for the new best friend Ana had been waiting for. The gardeners grumbled about it, they were not terribly fond of the idea. Nobody but Ana was fond of the idea. But she didn't care. She grinned up at Vienne instead. "And we can keep plants here for it? Yes? So it will be comfortable? And a big rock to sun on and a little pond with a fountain for it to drink from..." She was rambling. She stopped.
Vienne looked down at Ana with a raised eyebrow. The girl was obedient and good-natured, she couldn't really blame her for being excited. This was what she'd been engineered for, wasn't it? This dragon...thing. "Of course, Ana. We will have the greenhouse prepared for your... pet."
Ana nodded, trying hard not to squeal. The greenhouse had always been intended for a dragon, Ana's own room was right next to it and the builders were going to put in a door so that she didn't even have to leave her room to have access to her dragon.
It was hatching! Soon! Flashing pink and orange and blue with pleasure, Ana pointed out a few more things she'd like done.

Dear Diary,
My dragon's home is ready! I'm so excited to meet him or her, I just can't wait! And I've moved into a bedroom on the ground floor that has a door that leads directly to my dragon's greenhouse! Vienne says it used to be the gardener's suite and she didn't like the idea of my living in servants quarters. But we remodeled and painted it and now it's beautiful! The wallpaper is pink and lighter pink stripes and the carpet matches the light pink stripes. Vienne thinks I'll get the carpet dirty because of the dragon, but I wont! It will be the best behaved dragon ever!
Charlie and Robbie's little girl ran away and I never even got to meet her. Why would someone run away from Charlie and Robbie? They are the best uncle's anyone could ever have. She must have been a terribly ungrateful child. Vienne doesn't seem to think it's such a terrible thing, though. I don't know why.
Halloween is coming up again! I'm very excited. I am dressing up as an army person, and I get to wear pink camo! It's very exciting because I can make my skin match my camo so I'll look like the best army-man ever. It's not as fluffy or romantic as being a bride or a fairy princess, but I wanted to try something different this year, and my helmet even has a cut-out at the top for my head spines! And I had special boots made, since my feet wont fit in normal shoes! And a pretend gun that looks real but shoots confetti! Oh, it's going to be a wonderful halloween! There will be a party at school and perhaps D-Corp will have a party too. That would be very nice.
Well, time to go! I'm late for my violin lesson.

The dragon had nestled itself around Ana the whole car-ride home. It had sort of coiled it's large, lean body around her and then, with a contented sigh, fallen asleep.
The little chameleon was beside herself. He was beautiful. He had feathers! She wasn't even dissapointed that her dragon was blue instead of pink. She was simply overcome with enchantment and nothing seemed to be able to wipe the wide, giddy grin off her face.
"Isn't he gorgeous, Joss? Have you ever seen such a beautiful dragon?"
"Well now," Joss replied with a faint smile. "I don't think I have. Then again, I've never met a dragon before. What do you suppose you'll name him?"
Ana stroked the jeweled feathers softly as the dragon let out a sort of trilling little snore. "I don't know yet. Maybe I'll ask him."
"Can he talk, then?"
"I don't know that either." Ana giggled. "He was just born, you know."
Despite the dragon being sigificantly larger and heavier than the girl - it was mostly length, though. He was not a bulky creature - Ana wanted to carry him to his new room. Her awkward attempts woke the dragon who stared at her with brightly whirling eye.
"What?" The girl asked, all wide-eyed innocence.
The dragon gave a huffing snort and flowed out of the car on it's own accord, moving gracefully and snakelike. It butted it's head under Ana's elbow and let out a sleepy, inquisitive chirping sound.
"Fine, then." Ana replied gaily. Nothing could dampen her mood today. Nothing at all. "You're too heavy for me to carry anyways. Our rooms are this way."
The dragon seemed to approve of it's surroundings, letting out curious birdlike sounds and occasional huffing sighs as the two traversed the labyrinthine corriders of the estate. He especially approved of the way the crystal chandeliers threw rainbow patterns on the carpet and had to stop for a few minutes to admire the way the rainbows reflected against his feathers, turning them different colors.
It was here that Vienne found them. Ana was still smiling her stupid-happy grin and the dragon was crooning complacently as it flowed over the carpet to catch another beam of multi-colored light.
"Goodness!" Vienne exclaimed, getting her first look at her daughter's new companion. There had been a great deal of trepidation for the heiress, who thought of dragons much like she thought of snakes. Slimy and disturbing creatures, not something a girl of breeding should have anything to do with. "Is this it, then?"
"Oh! Yes, Vienne, this is my dragon! He only just hatched!" Ana turned towards the wyrmling. "Come here, dragon!"
The dragon, unsuprisingly, ignored the girl entirely. It was far too occupied with this new game of catch-the-rainbow.
"Does it have a name?" One perfect eyebrow arched.
"Do you have a name, dragon?" Ana asked, still too blinded by her puppy love to care wether or not the dragon listened to her. This time, though, it seemed to be paying at least a little attention and after a moment let out a sort of purring, trilling sigh that sounded almost like it could have mortal syllables involved.
"Duvrush." Ana informed Vienne, doing her best to mimic the sound the dragon had made and failing utterly. When she said it, it sounded like "dove-rush" which seemed to the young chameleon perfectly enchanting and acceptable. Everything about the dragon was enchanting and acceptable. "Isn't he wonderful?"
"He's... not what I expected." Vienne said, finally. "And he is rather lovely. The feathers are a nice touch."
Duvrush preened. It wasn't clear wether he could really understand what was being said or wether he just understood he was being complimented. But he preened nevertheless, flowing over towards Ana and coiling about her feet in a way that made the light gleam against his plumage just so.
"You'll have to teach him manners and obedience, though." Vienne added severely. "I wont have him in this house if he's not well-behaved, and D-Corp be damned."
Ana smiled indulgently, stroking Duvrush on the head. "Of course, Vienne."
The brief meeting at an end, Vienne nodded at her young charge. "I've got a ladie's luncheon to go to. You get him settled in, and don't forget to practice your violin today! Master Pietro says you're not improving quickly enough."
The comment, unwittingly cutting, would normally have caused Ana to go into a frenzy of practice so that she would improve and hope to win Vienne's love and attention. Oddly, though, she had no such reaction today. She was in love, and it blotted out everything.
"Of course, Vienne." She responded instead with her vacant little smile. "Come on, Duvrush, lets go see your greenhouse."
Vienne watched as the star-stricken girl and her new dragon floated off down the hall. She shook her head. Ana was clearly infatuated, but that would pass soon. The dragon... well. It was acceptable, as long as it could learn how to behave properly and not leave messes in the house. The gardners were unlikely to thank her for foisting it on them - they would be the ones who had to clean the greenhouse that had been converted for the dragon's use. Still... a faint smile crossed the heiress's face. Ana could probably use a confidante. And the feathers were really rather pretty.

My dear brothers,
I was sorry to hear that your subjects ran away. Especially since Ana was looking forward to meeting the little girl. Thats what you get, though, when you tamper with things you know nothing about. Locking children in laboratories is not the wisest idea, as I'm sure you're now aware. As to the question posed in your last letter, the answer is still no. You may not take samples from Anataela for any sort of research. I am certain that, regardless of my personal moral stance on the issue, it would be some sort of breach of contract with D-Corp and none of us want to be on their bad sides.
Ana is doing well, though her concentration is lacking now that her dragon has hatched. It's a rather remarkable creature, though you'll never catch me admitting that out loud. Aside from it's penchant of jumping out at people she seems to have it well under hand. She calls the thing Rush which seems suitable and sounds pretty enough. The dragon certainly thinks he's pretty, and he is. I suppose it's fitting that with all the vanity in this house, we might as well have a vain dragon as well.
Ana dotes on him and is doing very well, thank you for asking. Her violin is coming along very well though her foreign language skills are appalling. I suppose I will just have to get her a tutor. Though I'm sure that if she would just apply herself a little more she would be speaking fluent French. Her deportment is lovely, she is graceful despite the oddness of her feet and I think she is coming along rather nicely. She will be ready to get involved in my end of the business before long.
Which reminds me, our quarterly earnings report is due and my bookkeeper will require some paperwork from you both. I will have him fax you the forms. Please be prompt, this is rather important.
Your loving sister Vivienne
