Keep at it! A relative of mine was just diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, probably brought on by her years of chain smoking. It's so awful that something like that should happen to her - she's such a nice person. sad

Good luck. My dad said when he quit after lung surgery that gum and hard candy helped. He needed something in his mouth. He also had a bunch of those hand held games like the rings and stuff for his hands. He said it helped to keep his hands active. After the nerves calmed down he started writing and found he was good at it. There again keeping his hands active.

I do not smoke. Well, I am only just a little girl (but not little little), so obviously it's illegal for me to smoke, but when I'm older I will have no desire to. I've been offered some, but why even try it? I don't care about being cool. It's a lot of money. It's bad for your health.

No smoking for me! I'm under age for smoking anyway, but I absolutely -never- want to start. Just walking past people who are smoking gives me a headache, I shudder to think what really smoking would do to me. I also don't go to any health care professionals who smoke. It might be a little harsh of me, but I'm not trusting them with my health if they poison themselves.

I smoke. i have smoked since I was 15. I don't smoke much, if that makes it any better. The longest I ever quit was 6 weeks I think. It was terrible, I wanted a cigarette the whole time. A LOT of people around my neighborhood smoke even though it is a fairly liberal, hippie type area. Every time I smelled someone's cigarette I'd actually salivate a little. Like you do when you smell something delicious cooking. So I've cut down, and my habit is not expensive whatsoever, I roll my own. I doubt I'll ever really quit. I read that nicotine addiction actually changes the structure of your brain, so a smoker's brain is actually different from a non-smoker's, and a former smoker's brain is different than either one. I'm not trying to make excuses for myself, I'm just saying it's hard, really friggin hard. If you don't do it, don't ever start.

The FDA A LOT of people around my neighborhood smoke even though it is a fairly liberal, hippie type area. Has anyone else ever noticed that most (would-be/)permaculturists smoke like fiends?

Berts little black cat all kinds of people smoke, you can't generalize and say everyone who eats organic or something like that don't smoke. i don't smoke cigarettes, but i do smoke weed. i honestly don't see anything bad about it. and, it is organic. XD Hemp is actually good for you! Not that I've tried it, but weed does have benefators for you, so, as long as you aren't all @_@ from it, then go for it! >w< No, I don't smoke at all, but I enjoyed being around my grandpa when he did, brings back memories when I smell certian smoke.

both my parents smoke cigarettes. my older sister(she's 25)smoked cigarettes for a while, but she dropped the habit fairly quickly.
HOWEVER,
both my dad && my sister smoke weed. a lot. every day.
i don't smoke cigarettes && i'm not ever going to, but i do occasionally smoke weed with my sister. i do it very rarely. i did two weekends ago, but the most recent time before that was july.
i guess that's still bad, but i COULD be smoking three packs of cigarettes a day like both my parents. i'd take some marijuana every few months over that ANYDAY. xp
