Gaara-The Desert Prince This is hard for me. One I LOVE old school anime.
HOWEVER, the new style of D was really well done, I loved his new outfit, and his new steed.
So I'd, unfortunately, have to go with Both equally. Yeah those ah... muscles were niiiiice to drool over- look at with his black suit.

Well, I like Bloodlust more than the first movie. I can't really say why, but I guess I like the style and the story more than the other one. But that doesn't mean that I didn't like the first movie. I enjoyed them both :3

I'm scaling your walls I'm pushing on your doors I'm not even knocking
Gotta say Bloodlust is my favorite. It was the first anime I ever owned, and I watched it so much the DVD got worn out and I had to get a new one. XD I love the music, the art is better (of course, they put more time into it and they had the advantage of CG).
As far as the books, I haven't read Demon Deathchase, but I loved Larmica from Volume 1 (The evil count's daughter) and the snake women.
I'm also really psyched, wikipedia says they're making another movie, Demon Journey to the North Sea. whee
I'm crashing your gates I'm storming your keep and I am not asking

Hi, Im jess. New to the guild pirate
Id have to say, the second movie. The frist one was drawn so dark, it made the animation really gritty. I am glad that they left out the weirdness between leila and her brothers. The end of the movie made me cry from happiness when leila's granddaughter went up to D and tried to be friends. Everyone should treat D like she did. I feel bad for him. crying
I have to rebuy the mangas and novels again. ( this is the time i miss working in a book store )
LOVED the part where D caught the arrow in the moonlight. awww man, i want to get that part tattooed on my shoulder.

Animation quality wise of course most would sway toward the Madhouse animated feature. However I honestly have to admit that the Bloodlust movie is beginning to get boring to me. I can have it playing right next to me while I'm at the computer and most of the time I'm not even watching anymore. Even the novel Vol. 3 "Demon Deathchase" isn't as captivating as the original Novel Vol. 1. the basis for the 1st movie. If the first novel were to be redone by Madhouse, the story would undoubtedly kick a** out of Bloodlust. There is so much sexiness and romantic flare between Doris and D. And for the next movie I wish they would base the story on Vol. 4 "Tale of the Dead Town". **Spoiler** Do not read if you haven't read the novel yet... **Spoiler**
There's a wonderful little reminder of Doris in vol. 4. D actually reminisces about her sweetly. As one of the Characters in this story tries to compete with D, to prove to himself that he could be just as heroic as D was to Doris. I think it would be so cute to hear about Doris again in any new VHD movie.

I've got to say the first one since the story was more rounded than Bloodlust plus I like most of the darker animes out there.

I like both to tell the truth. I've read 1-4 of the novels and like both movies I just think the difference in animation shows how far it's come.

I got to go with the first movie. When it first came out i hadn't read any books but knew of VHD.I drove 3 hours to see it in theaters four times.I was beyond thrilled with it.I loved it and I still do.I own them both but i can't get over the first. Mind you....neither were totally like the books they were based off of but then again...what book to movie ever is.

I Do believe that I enjoyed the first film better simply on the basis that it was old school anime goodness smile
