Thona wasn't one to just give his name to anyone. In fact, he hated any mention of names. Unless, it where the other's names. More so for the fact he wanted to remain just in nightmares of others. As well as he didn't want the females he'd knock up coming to find him and dropping the cubs he left them with on him. That would have to be the most.

Rarely did he give it out, only to those who he had respect for. For perhaps maybe a type of friendship in the future. Or even a rival he could have small fights with now and then. "I'm not one to just fling my name out there, but if you must know. It's Thona" He simply said. He was sure the male would either for get it, or never use it unless he saw him. "And yours?"

"Names are nothing important, so I rather not be called by it." He stated. "Unless no one's around." He added. It wasn't a type of weakness. Just something that'd make Thona more irritated if just spitting out the name in front of others. Not like it mattered unless he was there though. A name alone is nothing. A name with a face was something he didn't like others to connect with.

The green male smiled. It was interesting to hear that he didn’t like giving out his name, yet still decided to tell him what it was. For Jeraha, names weren’t all the important. You didn’t need to know one’s name to take their life or to hunt them down, so what value did they really hold? Just the small victory in being able to differentiate one animal from another, really. And even that wasn’t all that much, since scent and appearance did the exact same thing.

Names were useless.

Still, he liked to give his out. There was a small kind of satisfaction in others knowing who he is. Others speaking his name, even in anger, to their friends. Kind of made him feel a little important. “Jeraha,” he said without much consideration.

“You don’t want me calling you by your name? What am I supposed to address you as?” he asked, already holding a few choice words in mind. But he didn’t think Thona was going to like those names.

Thona made it almost impossible for other's to hunt him down. Though, with his name, it could be slightly easier, or that's what Thona thought. But everyone to their own. Thona was a bit paranoid when it came to females trying to find him. Males, well, he'd either die trying to fight him, or kill the other and walk way with a few scratches.

Thona gave a nod, but knew he'd probably forget it soon. So it didn't matter. He'd never talk to anyone about his encounters, not even his favorite toy. Especially not her. He'd just simply take his anger out on some helpless creature.

Thona shrugged at his question. "Make up a name, I care not what other's call me. Hell, even a** hole would work." He said simply. Though he knew some names he wouldn't like. Especially if they involved being called a female. Weak creatures they were, he'd never accept anyone calling him that. Of course, he wouldn't lash out, but his own words of retaliation would do just as good.

“Suit yourself, a*****e,” the male replied with an impassive tone to his voice. He didn’t care if the male didn’t want anyone calling him by his name. No doubt he would end up calling him Thona more than once now that he knew his name. It wasn’t something he would do in spite, not completely, he was just used to addressing others by their names. Even if names weren’t that important- they were still a tool that one might as well use.

Why have a name if you weren’t going to use it?

Anyway, it wasn’t all bad. At least he got to call the angry leopard a*****e now. That was actually pretty good. “Are we going to get to this place any time soon, or are you just making me walk around on these burns because you enjoy trying to see me in pain?” he asked after a moment, feeling as though they had been walking for quite some time now. Maybe he wasn’t being lead to anything that would help his feet at all.

Or maybe he was just getting more grumpy because his legs were hurting and the burns weren’t making things any better.

Thona did quite enjoy watching the other in pain, though he was quit annoyed with the mouth that went with it. "Now, maybe if you didn't complain so much, that'd be what I was doing. But we are almost there, shouldn't take much more walking." He told the other. Aloe vera was a desert plant, so it was good that it was close. Or they'd have to find it deep in the jungle.

Not much longer, they were there. Odd looking plants with bumbs on the leaves. The smell could be smelled from miles. It was a nasty smell, but once you got past that, it was quite good for wounds and other things. "These are them. You just bite them and rub the oil on your burns." He told the other. "The smell is bad, but it helps alot." He added with a shrug.

He wasn't keeping these plants a secret from anyone. It was obvious if they just watch other creatures. Especially the weird ones that walk on two legs, and make funny noise, and have no fur. Though he tended to stay away from them. They had sticks that had teeth on them. Or it looked like one giant tooth.

“Tch,” hissed the large lion sniffing the plants with obvious distrust, “you made me walk all this way on burned legs to show me some stinky plant? I’m not putting those in my mouth, or anywhere near my body. I should rip you apart for tricking me like this!” he snapped, convinced that the animal had been messing with him this entire time. Leave it to a dirty leopard to play such a dark joke on someone in pain.

Of course, he was the fool for trusting the leopard to begin with. Now he was far from home and would have to walk all the way back to his den on feet no less alleviated of pain. The funny thing was that he was a healer, but only by name. He didn’t know much about burn healing plants, his focus less about healing and more about poison. He liked venoms and their antidotes. So he knew nothing about this plant he had been presented or that it wasn’t a joke.

“Lousy creature,” he growled, “I’m going home.”

Thona rolled his eyes. "Can you get passed your arrogance. I, surprisingly, was being nice for a chance, but now that I see that you don't want any help." He told the male with a carefree look. "Suit yourself, I'm sure you'll be in horrible pain when those burns become infected." He told the other with a shrug. Not like he cared anyways. One less lion male to worry about taking his females.

"Go home then, no one's stopping. Have a pleasant journey." He told him uncaringly. "I wouldn't believe me either. I mean look at me, I'd be more likely to try to kill you with some poisons plant, then show you these ones that I did." He said truthfully. "Enjoy your nasty soon to be scars. That's if the infection doesn't kill you."

“Humph,” grunted the large lion, “no infection will be enough to do me in. I’m sure I can find plants on my own that will help me with these burns. Regardless of whether or not you’re telling the truth, I just don’t trust you enough to risk it. I rather enjoy my life now and I intend to keep living it. Should this prove an unwise move, that’s fine. Better to be wrong than dead.” He watched the leopard carefully, narrowing his eyes and turning himself away from the smaller creature.

It was going to be a long walk home.

“If I see you again, and no fires spring up to interrupt us, we’ll have that fight. Until then, don’t do anything to get yourself killed. I want to be the one to end your life.” He wasn’t so sure he meant it, though. As angry as he was, they both had still been in a trying event the two of them had endured together. Maybe that was supposed to mean something. Like they could be friends.

Nah.

He started to walk away from the other creature, heaving a sigh and beginning the long limp home.

Thona bit into one of the plants to prove to him that they were harmless. The bitter taste filled his mouth, but he didn't make any type of face. With that he spit it at the other. "Stop being a child about this s**t. Use it and be thankful I showed you."

"I'm sure you couldn't end my life, even if you truly tried." He laughed. Of course, Thona had no plans in ever getting killed by a mortal. Only a god would be a worthy enough death for him. Though, any fight would be better then death by old age he figured.

Thona Lashed his tail and watched the other for a moment, even after he started to leave, perhaps he'd start thinking about the plant he spit at him. Bitter taste still with in his mouth, he'd have to wash it out, or eat something to get it out. His face still stayed the same.

Jeraha sighed, hearing the male b***h at him from behind. Looking over his shoulder, he watched the male for a moment, frowning thoughtfully. It was proof enough, seeing him bite the plant, that they wouldn’t hurt him. But he was a stubborn creature and didn’t like to concede defeat, even when it was obvious that he had lost the argument. He had half a mind to just keep walking and not look back again.

“You’re wrong to assume that,” Jeraha said with a chuckle, “but I suppose you’re not looking to prove it, are you? Because I would be happy to.” He was getting past the point of keeping things civil with the creature. Yet, at the same time, he couldn’t help but feel connected to him.

Maybe he needed a plant to help with a fever or something- he was starting to think in a crazy manner.

“Fine. I’ll use your stupid plant. If it’ll make the princess happy.”

"It wouldn't be fair beating someone who's already injured" Thona spoke with a smirk. Of course, Thona was anything but fair. But it was just an excuse to not fight for now. They had been in to much. He was sure the other was exhausted as much as him, even more because of his wounds.

He couldn't help but laugh at the other's comment. "Not as happy as the Lady in waiting will be after using the plant." He lashed his tail threatening like.
PostPosted: Sat Nov 08, 2008 6:32 pm

“Except you wouldn’t beat me,” chuckled the larger of the two, “we’ve been down this path before. This is just a vicious circle now.” He left the taunting along at that. For the most part, anyway. Really, he shouldn’t be looking for a fight. His lungs were burning and his paws hurt like hell. It really wasn’t the time to be digging around for something to render.

Even if he did have a lot of frustration to vent.

Grunting, a chuckled escaped him at the retort. “Finally you say something that’s actually amusing,” he muttered, finally giving in and moving towards the plant. The way it smelled was anything but pleasing. Still, he swallowed a small portion of his pride and used the salve from them to help his burns.

"Isn't that what everything is? One big vicious circle." He spoke the truth. That's how the world was. No matter what, there was always someone out there better then you. Though, for Thona, he thought there wasn't many who could beat him. Though, there were many that could tie him. Perhaps get a lucky blow in once in a while.

Well, at least they both still had some of a sense of humor. He just gave a satisfied grin as the other made his way to the plant he ripped off. It didn't smell pleasant, at least to him. He hated the stuff, yet loved it as well. It worked good for reducing scars, and making it hard to see them. If the lion was lucky, his hair would one day grow back and cover his scars.

Jeraha used the plant on his wounds with clear disdain. It was an omission of defeat in his eyes, to have caved in and use the plant after protesting it so damn much for so damn long. He didn’t say anything about it as he worked to get the stinging, yet soothing goo onto his wounds. If it really was going to help, he would just have to tough it up a little and take the help.

Because he couldn’t let any kind of limp get in his way; he had a family to think about.

Once he was finished, he looked at the leopard, wondering if there really wasn’t anything to worry about with the plant. Maybe this was all some elaborate prank. Or maybe he just needed to stop thinking about things. It wasn’t like he actually cared. If he died, well, darn. But he didn’t care.

Much.

Silence held a while, and Thona grew bored of this situation. He was safe, and with no serious injuries. He didn't care much if the other had any damage. It was his own fault, Thona thought. And if he died, he'd probably never know, nor would really care either way. He just cared that he was still alive and kicking quite well. Of course a little tired, and might be a little sore the next day, but nothing big.

"Well, seems as your done, I think I shall be going." He spoke. He turned and started to walk away. Perhaps that'd let the other realize again that it wasn't harmful for him. Unless he was allergic to it. Thona loved to watch things suffer, and would have stayed around to watch him suffer if it was something dangerous. He figured the other would have sensed that small bit about him as they made their way to that spot, but he could be wrong.
