Emris listened to Terrie with a small smile on his face. It'd been a while since someone had sat here with him and just talked. That is someone who wasn't male or his family.

Then when Terrie laughed the confused foxtaur just blinked. "Hmm?" He asked just before feeling his chin. Yup, his fingers came away sticky and covered in juice. Emris chuckled just thinking about how silly he must look to her. Then quieting down some he started to lick his now sticky fingers to try to clean them of the juice.

The confused look on Emris' face made her laugh more. Setting down her bread, Terrie looked around for something to help him with. "We both seem to be making messes." She giggled, pointing at her crumb pile and starting to relax once more. "Do you have a towel or something here?"

"Ah, we are." Chuckled Emris noting the small messes. "And yes I do." With a smile the foxtaur backed up and moved a light basket out from underneath the counter.

Opening it he pulled out two small white cloths that already were darker in some spots from being well used. Clutching them in his hands, Emris hurried back over and held one out for Terrie. "Here."

"Thanks." Terrie took the towel. Since her face still had a bit of juice from her own peach, she quickly dipped a corner of the cloth into the tea water and dabbed her face. Then the used the dry part to clean up the crumbs into her hand. Then she stood there looking at her hand, wondering what to do with them. She looked at Emris, biting her lip in an odd embarassment at her confusion. "Where do I put these?" She asked.

After wiping his chin, Emris looked back at Terrie. "Keep them on the cloth when you're down cleaning up and we'll throw them outside in a bit." He answered with a kind smile. 'The birds will love that.'

He finished clearing up his side of the table and looked at Terrie, "Before taking the crumbs out though...do you want to try sketching out an idea of your house?"

Emris then gazed over towards the tea pot, soon it'd probably be mixed and warm enough to serve. Until then they could start on things...or just talk. Either way was fine with him.

Terrie looked out the window, down to her hands, out the window, and grinned. "Oh! Birds!" She exclaimed. She put the crumbs into the towel and set in on the table and nodded. "We can definitly try to start." She said, shaking her head slightly in defeat. "I don't know where to begin." She put her elbows onto the table and her face into her open upturned palms, her mouth turned in a slight pout. Her eyes were on Emris, wondering what was next.

"You guessed it." Emris gave a fake pout, "I was trying to surprise you with the birds...but I guess that didn't work." He chuckled while grabbing some blank paper, a tiny bowl of cold water, and charcoal like pencils.

Sitting next to Terrie, Emris laid out the papers and spread them. "Well let's see....we can draw a quick sketch of the area and then put where you want the house exactly. That way we can guess how much space it'll take up."

Dipping the sharp point of one of the charcoal sticks in water, Emris swirled it around until the tip was nice and wet. Placing it against the paper he nearly started to draw before looking at Terrie, "Do you want to draw?"

Terrie gasped. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to ruin it for you!" She began her nervous twirling of her fingers through the ends of her hair, hoping she hadn't disappointed Emris too badly.
When Emris joined her, her first instinct was to scoot away, but she froze herself. He wasn't trying to "pickpocket" her. She didn't have her bag here anyway. With a little effort, she relaxed her muscles, getting used to sitting next to a friend. She was busy being distracted by that thought, smiling gently, and his question caught her off guard. "Me?" She asked, looking wide-eyed at the paper and charcoal in his hands. "I.. don't know how."

"It's okay really it is." Laughed Emris before placing the tip right against the paper. He closed his eyes and tried to bring up the meadow in his memory. There it was and even the tree was were he remembered it to be.

"Really?" The foxtaur started to draw out a quick sketch while he talked, "Maybe I should teach you?" Feeling a bit embarrassed Emris added, "Not that I'm as good as some other artists I know...but map making tends to be something that I do a lot of. So this is nearly the same."

Smiling thankfully, she turned her eyes back to the sheet of paper, watching the dark lines flow onto the paper. She batted a finger curiously at one of the lines, issuing a small squeak of suprise when she smeared the line and her finger came back stained. She frowned at her finger a moment before wiping it on the cloth next to her. "Sorry." She mumbled, placing her hands carefully into her lap.
"You're already teaching me how to build a house." She said with a crinkle of her eyes. "We might as well add that to the list of things to teach me." 'Along with cooking food, making a garden, and sharing comfort and love with others to complete the home.' Her last thought made her eyes flick over to Emris' face again. Her first real friend.. He was already part of her home, and it wasn't even built yet. She wondered how she was supposed to convey this pleasing and curious knowledge to him.

Giving Terrie a wide grin, Emris shook his head. "It's fine." He replied while retracing the line. The tree was finally finished and the foxtaur slowing down before his hand cramped took a glance at Terrie.

He laughed at her next comment and shook his head. "You don't know what you're getting into. My cousin says I can drive someone off the wall with my ways of teachin'. But sure, we can add that." Now he paused completely and looked back at Terrie, "Maybe you can return the favor and teach me somethings as well?"

Smiling, the foxtaur returned to the paper and started to give some idea to sketch maps. "See basically drawing a piece of land takes just putting the lines together to resemble the objects there and the right amount of space and to be able to remember the place you're drawing..." He trailed off with his eyes still on the paper as he drew a couple of quick lines for the stream.

Terrie smirked slightly, still feeling silly, but better, since he didn't get upset at the smeared line.
She watched with great interest as Emris' picture began to take form, and she started recognizing the land she had picked out for herself.
Her head raised slowly in a delayed reaction, his words taking time to be recognized as directed at her. "Me? What could I ever teach you? You know so much already." 'You could show him how to make a bed out of cardboard, paper and bags.' She thought sarcasticly to herself. She didn't even know if that stuff existed here.

"Now..." Emris gave a small chuckle and shook his head. "I'm not that smart...I admit to being a bit....of a bookworm at times and I have learned a bunch from books." His hand just then shook and the line for the stream bank outline became a bit more curved than it should.

"Oh!" Sighing the foxtaur took the cloth and gently dabbed the area mostly clear of black, until it was more of a faded gray. Then he set back to fixing the line before speaking again. "You could....well it's up to you. But one of the things I'd like to be taught about, is about you Terrie."

Feeling a bit embarrassed, Emris continued with a small grin. "I like to hear about travelers and all. Or even about what interests you....if you feel up to talking about yourself to me."

Terrie nodded in a 'see? smart!' manner, but her smile wavered when Emris' hand did. "Are you okay?" She asked, looking between his hand and the line he was trying to clean up.
Hearing what he thought she could teach him about, her eyes widened and a warm blush crept up her neck and face. "About me." She whispered in awe. She suddenly wanted to tell him everything she could remember about her life, all the way back to the old man finding her. The feeling completely overrode her seclusive instinct she had adopted in her traveling. And that made her fidget a little, fingers unconciously running to twirl her hair.
She looked over at him and could only manage to giggle and look back down sheepishly at her lap. "I suppose I could think of something.. about myself." She said, still smiling shyly at her lap.

(Edit: xD;; Oops. I just realized I cut out some of the first paragraph.)

Putting on a warm smile at an attempt to ease Terrie's worry, Emris nodded. "I'm fine..." Then after placing the charcoal stick down the foxtaur moved his fingers, popping them.

His bright eyes went over and watched Terrie as she spoke to him. "That's great!" The words burst out of his mouth before he could stop their excited stream. "I mean...that'd be great." Giving an embarressed grin the foxtaur about missed the small stream of steam coming from the tea. "Give me a second..."

Moving quickly, Emris grabbed a thick cloth and wrapped it around the handle of the teapot. Soon he was pouring the rich honey colored liquid into cups and bringing them over to the table. "Here..." He carefully placed one in front of Terrie. "Now we really can start talking and working." He joked, blowing at the hot tea.
