You don't know how you've betrayed me
Ryu watched as Avalon walked straight past her, as though she wasn't there. Her eyes followed the girl, knowing she was feeling self pity. Still, she followed the girl out, standing behind her, hood down. "Rough life, eh? I can tell. Not a lot of girls work at a blacksmiths."
Anna, struggling against the armored men holding her, managed to see past most of them where Ryu was talking to the smithing girl. She smiled and turned back to where the guard in front of her was talking to the prince, now completely blocking her from view. She knew how to escape, but she didn't want to hurt the lakey's. It wasn't their fault this was their job, after all. Kind of like she had no choice but to steal.
Anna looked up as she noticed specks of white. It was almost winter, and already snowing. Painful as her present situation was, it was beautiful to see all that white coming down. (Shut up, it is now almost winter. XD)
Anna shivered, realizing that her robe didn't do much in the way of shielding her from the cold. Her thumbless hand was already getting red from the cold.

 Avalon jumped when she heard the girl's voice come from behind her. Her hand flew to her chest, she had almost had a heart attack...or something very simliar.
"Oh...well...not exactly. I just really need the money and this is the only person who would hire me....everyone else says I need to be...what was the word...well...basically I needed to have a life, and be prettier..." Avalon muttered the last bit.
She didn't know the girl but she had started talking to her. Maybe because it was that they worked at the same place, it was hard being a girl and working for a blacksmith.
"So, what about you? What are you in for?" Avalon smiled, it sounded like they were in prison. Technically she wasn't far from the truth.
Avalon looked up at the sky, it had started to snow a little bit. She cursed herself for not bringing Zroa's blanket and stomped her foot.
"I really must think ahead more often..." She muttered beneath her breath.

"Lively is, perhaps, the word you happen to be looking for?" Ryu raised her eyebrow. "Well, no need to break my back. I don't really work. I just go in there once or twice to look at the swords. May I admire the one you're making now? You seemed to be having a difficulty with it."

Avalon laughed, it was melodious and sweet sounding, something she didn't do often.
"It's not that I'm having trouble....more like it has to be perfect when I'm finished. You see, it's for one of the Princes that live in the castle. He ordered it custom here and my crazy boss put me on the job. I suppose that means he think I have potential." Avalon rolled her eyes and laughed again.
"I heard that Ava!" her boss shouted at her, moments later he laughed.
"He's a really nice man but works much too hard for someone his age, WHO SHOULD BE IN A RETIREMENT HOME!" She shouted back, knowing for a fact that he hated being reminded of his age.
Avalon smiled and looked at the girl.
"I'm sorry for being rude...but what is your name? My name is Avalon, but you can call me Ava." She stuck her hand out to be polite.
One thing her mother always taught her was to be kind, gentle, sweet, caring, and polite. Then and only then would she find her 'husband' though Avalon was having second thoughts whether or not she WOULD have a husband.

Haru snarled at the guard who interrupted. He immediately identified him as Rommulus, one of his most caring and yet idiotic guards. Haru began smacking him around, venting his frustration. The few people who didn't catch on that he was a prince at this point gasped, while the rest whispered to the others. Haru paused for a moment, and let Rommulus catch his breath.
"S-sir?"
"Two things, Rommulus. A: I was in the middle of a conversation. You know how I hate to be interrupted. B: YOU. JUST. BLEW. MY. COVER!"
For every one of his last five words, Haru smacked Rommulus again, upset. Knowing that at this point it was worthless, Haru took off his cloak and threw it to a random guard. Many of the surrounding people gasped and stood in awe, with many of the more wealthy women beginning to try and get Haru's attention, all of which he ignored. He then forcefully brushed past an overwhelmed Rommulus, and walked to the guard holding Anna, who seemed horrified.
"Let her go."
"B-but-"
"Are you defying a prince? I said, let her go."
"But she's a witch, sire."
Haru paused, and looked down at Anna. He stared at her for a moment, then finally realized where he had seen her.
"Aaaah... that's where I've seen her... let her go and remove her from the records."
"Wh-what?! Why?"
"She is no witch. It's been obvious she's been wrongfully accused. Would a witch care for 26 girls on her own?"
"Well... um...."
"Precisely. Let her go."
The guard reluctantly let Anna go, and stood with the others, waiting for Haru to go to the palace.
"So. are you going to come with me or not?"

Anna was dropped painfully and suddenly, fairly confused but very relieved. A red mark had worn into her skin, not that it was anything new. She got hurt all the time. That was why she was missing a thumb. Her hands, wrapped in the black cloth, provided bare fingers to feel the snow around her.
She stood up, wobbling slightly, as she had been lifted off the ground for the past maybe 5 minutes and had not yet re-gained footing sense. Once her senses came whirling back to her, she found that Haru was asking her. And now, she realized it was better to feed her children then to have shame. Numbly she nodded, and walked after him, bare feet freezing as the town streets coated slowly in snow.

Haru smiled at her nod and walked at a brisk pace, ignoring all the stares and whispers. Haru paused at one point, and looked behind him to see the usual legion of guards. He groaned and dismissed them, and as soon as they were out of sight, he headed in a new direction, not exactly towards the palace. Haru kept walking and walking, and soon both the village and the palace were not in view. Haru was positive that no one but him knew about this passage, he knew for certain the guards didn't, but he was unsure of his brothers. Haru stopped near the hidden mouth of the passage, disguised as a tree. He turned to Anna with a smile, knowing that at this point she must be either panicking or at least curious as to why they weren't heading to the castle directly.
"Are you okay? They didn't hurt you, did they?"

Anna shook her head, wondering where her voice had decided to go. Now that she was actively staring at him, he was very pretty. Also, she was trying to remove her shame here, but it wasn't working.

Haru nodded once she shook her head.
"Good. Now don't tell anyone about this."
Haru knocked on the tree rather hard, and it opened. It revealed a rather dimly lit passage, and one could faintly see a light on the other end, blocked by a door.
"Now follow me. And close the door behind you."
Haru grabbed a torch out of it's holder and began trekking through the passage, intentionally a bit slow in case Anna had trouble with the door.

This confusion
Anna nodded and followed him in. She pulled the heavy door shut easily, although somewhat slowly. It didn't come quickly for her. She was sure that for some, it would be incredibly easy, but she just settled for being able to close it in the first place.
After that, Anna hurried after Haru, catching up to him quickly and walking next to him nervously, in case she wasn't allowed to do that. If she wasn't, though, he'd probably just tell her. It wasn't a problem whether she was in front or back, so she usually stayed somewhere in the middle, and this was close to middle.

(( Money system hasn't been mentioned yet, so I'm going with the classic gold pieces! )) Haru trekked the distance to the door in silence, and when he reached the door, he paused and put the torch in the empty slot. He motioned for Anna to stay as he opened the door and looked around. He was now in the library, and surprisingly, Haru's brother wasn't there. Haru motioned for Anna to follow, and stepped out of the tunnel hidden by the movable bookcase. He shut the door behind Anna and motioned her to follow. He semi-snuck through the halls until he came across his room. Haru entered, and motioned for Anna to follow he began rummaging through his disaster of a room until he came across his rather large sack of gold. Haru jingled it, determining the weight and amount inside, before he threw the entire sack at Anna.
"That ought to be enough, right?"

Anna followed him when she was supposed to, and didn't when she was told to stay. When they got to his room, she slipped inside and stared around the hurricane of a room, wondering what it would be like to actually have this much stuff. Probably more annoying and cramped then having nothing, she decided. Always look on the bright side.
When he tossed her the bag, she caught it and almost dropped it, not expecting it would be heavy. She stared at it in shock, then looked back at the prince, speaking for the first time in quite a while. "You're kidding, right? This is, like, twice the amount of money I've seen in 17 years combined!"

Haru looked at her, quite serious.
"No, I'm not. If that's not enough, I can go get some more..."
The problem with Haru's logic was that he had figured that at least half the girls ate like him, and went through armor and weapons like him, even though they most likely didn't have any. That amount of gold was quite regular for him to carry around at once, as he tended to splurge quite often. Haru began looking around his room for more gold, still oblivious to Anna's second comment.

Kit growled angrily to herself and jerked hard on a stubborn weed that had taken root in the garden of an extreamly stubborn man who insisted she pull the weeds even though it was snowing and the weeds and most of the other plants would probably be killed off. She stood up for a moment and rubbed her sore hands against each other, sighing lightly and shivering; her hands were warm but that was from the friction and the injuries they were suffering from being repeatedly used for this kind of torture. She glared violently down at the innocent looking weed and then childishly stuck her tongue out at it.
She let out a long sigh and relaxed into a more bored and wistful expression, tilting her head back to stare up at the sky and to feel the snowflakes against her cheeks. "I wonder how Christian's reacting to the snow right now..." She smiled and laughed slightly, imagining her hyper active nephew throwing on all his clothes at once and barreling outside without her sister-in-law's permission. Kit gave a long sigh and turned her smile down on the weed. "Well, if I want to get home to play with him, I better hurry up. After all; this is my last job for the day..." She told it in a friendly voice, and then she bent and grasped the plant with both hands before bracing her feet and starting to pull again.
