"But they itch..." Shaking his head and sniffing at the lotion that made him wrinkle his nose. He'd just had a bath and now he smelled funny. Glancing up at his father with a worried look, he chewed on his lower lip with his fangs. "Daddy...if I have chicken spots, does that mean I'm gonna turn into a chicken?"
Filling the tub with the bubbles Lici had requested, she helped her pull off her clothes and then gave her a hug and a kiss on her cheek. "No, baby. Toby's just sick, that's all, and I don't want you to get sick, too. So you have to stay away from him for a little while so he can get better and you won't get them too, alright?" Helping her into the bath and going about washing her hair and body so she could play. "He'll be just fine in no time at all."

"I know, but itching can make them worse. So it's better. If you have to touch them, just rub with the flat of your hand. But try your hardest not to touch." He couldn't help but smile at his son though at the childish question and he pressed a kiss to the boy's forehead. "No, chicken pox won't turn you into a chicken. No worries, you won't be growing feathers and cluching and bobbing your head all silly." Despite Sam's thoughts though, he was tempted to throw the kids together. Best to have them get it at the same time in his opinion.
She played less than she usually did and clearly she was preoccupied what with her brother getting all spotty and the like. In fact she looked like she was threatening to cry again. "But he promised..." Promised that he'd sleep with her tonight and now he was all sick. And now the monsters would get her because she'd roll out of her new bed. A look to her mother then, "Can I sleep with you mama?" Plan B.

He glanced at his hand and tapped the bottom part of his palm which he was assuming was the flat part of his hand. It looked pretty flat to him anyway. He scootched closer to his father and rested his head against Xe's chest. "Daddy...Lici really doesn't want to sleep alone and neither do I. We're scared." Glancing up at him through big gray eyes. "Do we really have to?"
Now her daughter was all upset and her son had chicken pox. What else? She wasn't surprised to know that the twins had made plans to sleep together and she took a deep breath and kissed her daughter's cheek, holding a towel out and starting to dry the little girl off. Pulling her purple nightgown over her head, Sam nodded. "Yes, you can. But Thobias is sleeping with us as well so you can sleep on a pallet on the floor. There's no monsters in our room because they're scared of Daddy."

Capping the bottle and wiping his hands on his already dirty shirt he wrapped his arms around his son and hugged him before picking him up and keeping him close. He liked that they were still small enough to pick up...but they wouldn't be much longer would they? "I know it's scary. Savina and I didn't want to do it either, but you have to eventually. No worries, me and mom have something special for the both of you so you won't have to be scared of sleeping in different beds."
Cue excited happy noise and tears forgotten. "Thank you mama!" Hugging at her mother with a giggle. "Daddy protects us." Getting all dried and dressed, she turned her back on her mother, presenting her hair to be further dried, combed and no doubt pulled back for the night since it was still wet. "And the doggies too? Can they get spots?"

He felt much better being cuddled close and it didn't matter than he was a big boy any other time. Right now he just wanted to be held and cuddled like he was still a baby. "Nonna made you and Aunt Vina not sleep together anymores too?" News to him. His grandmother had always let him and Lici share a bed. Did that mean she wasn't going to let them anymore either? Panicky thoughts those were but his attention was caught by the statement that they were getting something. "What is it?"
She squeezed her daughter tightly, quite happy to be back in her good graces. "Yes, he does." Just like he protected her from thunderstorms. Now it was their turn together to protect the kids from make-believe monsters under the beds and in closets. Pulling the brush out, she made short work of the snarls with detangling spray and pulled it back so that it wouldn't be in her face all night. "No, silly, the dogs can't get the spots. It's a people sickness." Tickling her daughter and then plopping a kiss on the top of her head. "Brush your teeth and I'll get some blankets and your sleeping bag and make you a pallet, okay?" Going about doing just that though she did take a moment to smile at the picture of Xearus cuddling their son before it was back to tasks as usual, including taking Xe's shirt down to the laundry room and treating the stains.

Brushing her teeth, taking an extra moment on her fangs and then it was on to grabbing bedding and sleeping bags. "We're sleeping with mama and daddy!" Informing her brother of such things in her passing as she dragged things into her parents room and went about making said pallet. Of course she made it big enough for both her and her brother with even a little room for the dogs too.
Letting his wife take his shirt, he headed to his room with his son still in hold and two the bedside table. Sitting on the edge of the bed he motioned Lici over and pulled her into his lap on one knee, letting sit on the other. Grabbing the box, he held it between the two of them. "When me and Savina were little, we had to start sleeping in our own beds too. We were scared just like you two are. What were we going to do without being able to hang onto each other to keep the monsters away. So grandpa came up with an idea. He gave me and Vina each a whistle. Whenever we got scared we were to blow it and he'd come running to save us from whatever it was that was scary." Opening the box and showing the two the shiny silver objects with their names on them. "Nonna did the same for you too, see? And I guarentee they work."

"We are?" Well that worked for him. Now his sister wouldn't be scared and he wouldn't be alone and sick. He hated being sick but hated being sick and alone even more. But paying attention as it seemed things were very important, he listened, resting his head on his father's shoulder and trying not to scratch at the spots. "We gots to send her a card." Reaching into the box and pulling out the one with his name on it then resting the cool metal against his flushed cheek. That felt good. "And anytime we blow, you'll come? No matter what?"
She didn't quite know if it counted if she came running or not so she didn't say anything in regards to that. Coming back into the room with pillows that she dropped down onto that pallet. "Just make sure when you blow it, it isn't near anybody's ears because that will really hurt." She wasn't sure how much Serafina had told the children about their grandfather. Truthfully, what she knew came from stories from Xearus, Serafina or Xe's siblings. "You can keep them right next to your beds that way they'll be there for you." Picking Lici up off Xe's lap, she carried her over to the pallet on the floor and settled her in, going through normal bedtime rituals.

"Right, anytime you whistle I'll come see you. Or mom will." Chuckling lightly as his wife dispenses precautionary knowledge as well to the children. It was so like Sam to do so. "Right...no blowing whistles in ears." Letting Sam settle one child and then he let her settle the other, giving out hugs and kisses to both his children as they settled down for bed and the dogs padded in as well to do so. Waiting till they drifted off, he motioned his wife to follow him then back to the twin's rooms where he finished of Lici's bed and turned his attention back to her. "See? A little reassurance goes a long way. Are you going to be getting some sleep as well?"

See, now she knew that she could be the almighty monster-scarer too. She put Thobias in their bed so that she could keep an eye on his fever and make sure he wasn't scratching. He was much harder to get to sleep tonight than normally but that was to be expected considering all the changes in his life. Eventually, they were both well into dreamland and she followed Xearus back into the twins' room, making Lici's bed up. "We need to get them their new sheets and figure out how we're doing their rooms." But flopping on the newly made bed, she tugged her husband down beside her and rested her head on his chest. "I doubt it. You know how I am when they're sick. Do you have a lot of work to do?"

"Might as well just take them to the store and let them pick what they want. This room is only going to be divided for so long before we give them their own rooms when they're older." Plopping down with her as she tugged him and he laced an arm around her, rubbing at her back soothingly as she rested against him. "Nope, everyone is in the midst of paper hell. I'm gracious and don't assign too much of anything else so they can concentrate on those papers alone." Blinking and inclining his head some to look at her. "You know, you should just go ahead and let Felicity catch them too."

She snuggled back into him, quite pleased that he didn't have work to do and could lay there with her. "That's going to be another fight in the making, I think." Silly kids and their inability to be apart from each other for long periods of time. Meeting his gaze, her teeth bit into the flesh of her lower lip and she frowned. "Medically, quarantining is best but as a mom I know you're right. I have a feeling Felicity will have them by week's end anyway."

"You may be surprised. As close as twins are, when we get older we get tired of someone always being in our space and having to put up with everything the other wants to do when you may not want to put up with it all. Privacy and such becomes and issue too...besides we weren't planning on splitting them up till they're teenagers and they'll be quite ready by then." Pressing a kiss to the top of her head and giving a little chuckle. "If it makes the doctor in you feel better...me and Savina shared everything we got and now we both have great immune systems. Honestly, how often am I sick?"

"That would be a blessing for sure. They're just so upset right now, bless their little hearts." And to top it all off her son had the chicken pox. Snuggling in against him, she sighed softly and had to agree that he was right. "Yes, immune system deficiency is such a problem and vaccinations are costly but the virus could have mutated and have a different strand that could infect Lici which would then be passed right back off to Thobias. Then again, sharing sicknesses would allow both their immune systems to prepare and defeat the virus before it could cause any serious damage." Thinking about it for a moment and then chuckling, "Not that often which I'm glad about. You're so pouty when you're sick."

He blinked stupidly for a second, even if he understood every word she said and then just gave a snicker snort that was fastly followed by a laugh. "You think too hard on things, how many times have I told you that." Pulling her closer for a kiss before nuzzling lightly at her and giving a contended sigh and another laugh. "I'm not pouty, just irritable and needy. Now how about we get ourselves a nice b-horror movie and some popcorn and have some grown up time as they sleep? Promise I'll pause it whenever you want to check in on them."

His laughter pulled her lips into a frown and she was just about to scold him for it when he surprised her with a kiss. Laughing with him now, she rested her face on his chest to feel the rumble of his laughter beneath her cheek. "I'm the worst of both worlds when it comes to such things, Xearus. A doctor and a mother. One is overprotective and the other simply sees the possibilities of illness or disaster in everything." Tilting her head up, she stole a kiss and nodded. "It's been a long time since we were able to watch a movie together." They both knew she would be checking on them rather frequently which is why she merely smiled and took his hand once more, walking back downstairs and settling in for another night in the joys of parenthood. Sometimes it was difficult being wife and mother, priorities shifting and unraveling before her eyes. Her children and her husband...thankfully it was enough to just be with him. And he with her.
Thobias woke up to the sound of music playing downstairs and yawned widely then scratched vigorously at one of the spots on his arm before he remembered what his father had said. Flat of his hand, right. Tossing in the bed, he searched for his sister then poked his head over the side and saw her sleeping soundly on the floor. Slipping out of the bed, he settled in next to her and reached for her hand then closed his sleepy eyes once more. He'd promised and promises were never to be broken.
