-----OK, it's a day late, so sue me. I'm proud of this one guys... You will notice that I've placed ads for the guild and the paper between each post now; these can be replaced with your own ads, whether they be real or fake(like for HP stuff), quest links, randomness that you just want to put in the paper for kicks (please HP related), or even incentives for the house elves to join your house and be active! I have wanted to have this feature from the start, so I'm going to try to work on it...and this is the first step. Anyaways, there are 2 reasons this one was a day late: (1) I just plain wasn't ready and needed to set up all the urls and what not, (2) I really wanted to put together a piece on the most recent events that have happened in the world of Gaia concerning Gambino and so I did and I'm so proud of that picture...it is a bit of a collage. Well this is it anyways. I hope you all enjoy and don't forget to get out those keyboards and get me pleanty of articles for Issue # 4! (Due to come out for the 14th, which is my birthday)

Hogwart's New Acquisition

by Marille E. Black

April 4, 2005. Hogwarts had been missing a Charms teacher since the last one had to leave after a group of seventh years performed different spells at the same time just before graduating. He was not only knocked out for three days, but he also lost his memory and he's now in recovery in St. Mungo's sporting a very sexy green and white hair do. (The hair color, according to the interviewed students, whose name's are kept private for legal reasons, say it has nothing to do with the House they were in.)

The new teacher, Professor Amara Kunfer is a extremely tall (aprox. height 6'7), good-looking (according to a few first and fifth year's opinion), young witch (24 years old), which also looks very strict. After the first Charms class, the students said they were very satisfied and say the professor might be an asset to the school, as she seems to be a well-prepared and experienced teacher. This year's Charms class appears to be very promising. Only time will tell.

Our Wizard of the Month

This is where we post the Witch or Wizard of the Month! Their Avatar and interview will be posted. The Witch/Wizard is chosen by their activeness in the school, their personality, and any other redeeming qualities they posses. Here?s this month?s choice!

That guy who's picture you will find if you look up "House Spirit" in the dictionary who currently has over 400 posts in the guild under his belt after being a student for only one month! The guy who puts the "sss" in Slytherin...

My interview with Grey_Temerity:

Q: What (if you are willing to disclose) is your name?

A: Ho hum, I'm afraid I may have to remain more than a little ambiguous on that front. Call me Grey. I've had a few too many stalker-situations..

Q: Have you read all the books? How many times?

A: Every single one at least three times. I generally don't re-read more than that without a bit break though, it annoys me to know too well what is on the next page.

Q: Which is your favorite?

A: Probably the last one, as they carry on the humor gets darker. I also have like the rise of Voldemort, the greater the strength of the side of darkness in the books the move existing the book as a whole. For me, life would be boring if the bad-guys were not dangerous.

Q: Have you seen all of the (so far) 3 movies based on the books?

A: Alas no, I've never seen the second one! (I know, what sort of fan am I).

Q: Which is your favorite of those?

A: Um, the third. So far, anyway. The young actors (and Miss Watson heart !) have really settled into their roles The fourth looks promising though.. Very promising. Though I do fear that the Potter-Chang thing may go wrong, it's often difficult for young actors to be convincing and really, I'm not surprised.

Q: How did you find out about Gaia?

A: Friends of mine got involved, then got bored and left. Now I remain! Solitary and resolute, yet poor and bitter..

Q: What's your favorite thing to do? Out side of Gaia?

A: On Gaia I like dropping acid comments or being sarcastic to people too dim to notice, small joys. But I value them!
Outside of Gaia I sit, read and drink. I think a lot too but it doesn't really show through in my posts. Um, girls also. That is probably my favorite overall.

Q: Are you in any other guilds? Are you as active in those?

A: I'm in two poll-guilds because I'm a poor boy who needs gold, "The Cure Guild" because the music is good and the "Gaian British Guild", which I've not actually posted in yet but which is fun to read! I'm most active in this guild though, probably by virtue of it being rather good fun in here..

Q: How often would you say you are on Gaia/the Guild Forum?

A: Ehrm, every day. Sometimes just to check messages, sometimes for over five hours a day.

Q: I see that you joined on March 14th, 2005 at 2:47PM (GST), but then you've also already made over 180 posts and that number continues to climb, that's some feat; how do you feel about that? Proud? Embarrassed?

A: Bloody hell that's accurate! I feel rather stalked, erm. I feel ok I guess. Albeit a bit downhearted that there aren't yet more young Slytherins to follow my lead, both in getting points, in dropping sharp comments and appreciating the high percentage of female members.. *smirks* ..yes, you know who you are! wink

Q: What is your favorite book or author? Besides Harry/J.K.?

A: "Godhanger" by d**k King-Smith. It portrays a dark cruelty to nature that is too rarely shown in most children's literature, I hate Disney type personification of animals. Like in Bambi. It misleads children about the reality of death, suffering and hope. Godhanger does not, it shows animals in a positive, yet very true light. With both the peace and the pain that comes with adult existence.

Q: What is your most prized piece of clothing or accessory (sp?)?

A: I have too much of it. I?ve an irritating love-affair with my wardrobe, particularly suits and waistcoats but also my scarves, my army uniform and my boots. Oh, and my patent leather shoes. Five sets of cufflinks and pocket watches. *sigh* I love it all, "It is but apparel" and yet I feel far too strongly about how I look.

Q: Do you have a favorite character from J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books? Who is it?(it?s ok to have more than one, I know I do)

A: In the books, Dumbledore. He has an all-knowing yet entirely human charm that I love. Deeply admirable. However my love for the fanfic version of Draco and the film version of Snape is unsurpassed, they are undeniably cool and, for me, make Slytherin the only house worthy of my wit and restrained grammar. The fanfic Draco has more depth to his character than he shows in the books, I do think that J.K. Rowling should perhaps have made the "bad" characters more admirable.

Q: What do you think about being deemed the Witch of the Month?

A: Well, for one thing I?m pretty shocked. For another, I?m really pleased. Harry Potter will always be popular, the guild will never die, my posts will live on.
Immortality by proxy! twisted

Q: Lastly, is there anything else you want to tell the members of the guild?

A: Yes, if you are Gryffindor, retake the sorting-hat. Think long and hard about the questions and see if you would fit better into one of the other houses. They are far more interesting than Gryffindor anyway.
Failing that, just see if you can get more people to join the guild or join Gaia, talk to your friends or something. More members for the other houses would make the guild so much better than having lots of people in Gryffindor who may actually be happier in a more individual house.

Largest House-elf population in Hogwarts History

by special reporter Marille E. Black

Sunday, April 03, 2005. After revising the lists of people, creatures and Ghosts currently residing in Hogwarts, few people have noticed that the amount of House-Elves has been steadily growing during the past months. Are they mating? Or are more being released and then hired by our noble headmistress? It was a mystery that someone had to solve before the whole school became infested with these helpful creatures. It was time someone was sent to the School Kitchens to see what that was all about.

"What can I give you, Miss?" "Want some pudding?" "Would you like some pumpkin juice, Miss?" "Does the Miss want a watermelon?" I was being bombarded with these kinds of questions as soon as I put one foot inside the school kitchens. There were hundreds of House elves willing to serve me, they had their little hands outstretched and waving them frantically, trying to get my attention, but what I wanted were answers and I was about to get them.

It wasn't until they managed to stuff some bread into my mouth that a rather thin and small House Elf agreed to have a small interview after offering me a whole freshly-baked turkey. Here's what he said:

"No, Miss, I does not know what has been happening lately. Is Miss Black sure she doesn't wants some turkey?" (The idea was really tempting, but being the dedicated reporter I am, I just urge him to answer so I could leave soon) "Well, I does not know, but..." he said as he lowered his voice to a whisper and looked rather anxious, "I has lately seen a few Hufflepuffs shove in some other House elves that--that I has never seen before." Just after he said this, he grabbed a pan and hit himself so hardly, he passed out.

After receiving quite a few accusatory looks from the rest of the elves, I decided it was time to finish my interviewing session. The House-Elf mystery will remain just like that, a mystery, ...but not for long.

Constellations

By RubyRays

-----Hello, my name is RubyRays and I shall be one of the new writers here at the Hogwarts Monthly. My article will include all of the strange and mystical creatures that are seen throughout the wizarding world. Now to the article:

-----This is to explain the mythology of the mysterious creature, Centaurs and how it got it's place in the stars.
-----The Centaur is a creature from classical mythology, half man and half horse. Their upper bodies and heads are human and they retain their arms, while their legs and bodies are horse.
The centaurs of Greek mythology were a rowdy lot who liked their wine. They lived in herds in the mountains of northern Greece, pursuing a wild and lawless lifestyle. Centaurs were beautiful, but always ready to drink, fight and seduce human women. They fought battles with humans. Some centaurs, however, rebelled against the wild ways of their kin, preferring both virtue and scholarly contemplation over carousing and conflict. Chiron is the most well known of these. He was a teacher/mentor to many, including Hercules, Achilles (hero of the Trojan war), Jason (captain of the Argo, and seeker of the golden fleece), and Asclepius (god of medicine). Being wise and just, Chiron practiced his skills in medicine, the hunt, herbology, celestial navigation, and astrological divination.
-----Chiron was born an immortal yet he didn't live forever. Hercules wounded him accidentally with a poisoned arrow. The pain was unbearable, and Chiron asked Zeus to let him die. Zeus granted the wish, and then made Chiron immortal in a different way, placing him amongst the lofty stars as the constellation Centaurus, one of the brightest in the Southern Hemisphere. One of its stars, Alpha Centauri, is the closest star to our own solar system. Some people claim that Chiron became the constellation Sagittarius. Either way, it's a beautiful tribute to be remembered in the night sky.

Gambino has been shot! His new tower has fallen, crushing the Von Helson Mansion as well, and now two new smaller mansions exist (one was supposedly built at the base of the tower and miraculously survived the fall, and the other fell from atop the tower right on top of the Von Helson's Mansion!) Both Von Helson sisters, Johnny Gambino, and his son Gino Gambino (who recovered his memory just before the horrible accident) are still no where to be found and are presumed by many to be dead...

(Sorry, this one's a page stretcher, but I worked really hard on it and I hope you like it. It's best understood if you start at Cindy's Helicopter and read clockwise from there...

To learn more about events that happen in the Gambino plot line, there is a nice reference with lovely pictures -->here<--
As a matter of fact, there is a lot of interesting things in the Community Discussion Threads, but beware, they will suck you in if you let them and you wont see daylight for weeks...
