Mel stood up to walk beside her as they went to find some fireflies. "Sorry to keep you out and away from home. Hopefully this will tire her out though and she'll be too tired to be upset about you leaving. Thanks though, for doing this for her," he smiled. "It'll mean a lot to her. And of course it means a lot to me that you'd stay out just for us." He chuckled and bumped into her playfully as he looked back to the filly to make sure she was coming.
Kahili's ears perked as she got up to follow after both of them. "Fire..flies? What're those??" She trotted up beside Porsche and looked up at the mare curiously. "Daddy usually says the day is over when it gets dark and we have to go to sleep." That was their usual routine, there was absolutely no exploring at night time because there could be dangerous things out there. Not that she actually believed that but those were the rules.

"Its no problem at all." Porsche then said, while nodding comfortably at her friend and smiling at Kahili's response. "Fireflies are awesome bugs, you'll love them when you see them. They glow very bright and can light up any night." Porsche remembered the days when she chased around fireflies herself, and it was always a blast to watch them scatter around her. "Hmm hopefully they will start coming out soon.." she looked at Mel somewhat worried but then saw some flashing just ahead of them. "Oh, there! I think we might have found some to watch and play with!" She really wanted Kahili to get her firefly experience, since Porsche had many fond memories herself.

Kahili blinked and then looked into the distance to see what Porsche was talking about and saw little glowing lights bobbing around. “Oh wow! Those are bugs?? I’ve never seen bugs that glow!” she shouted excitedly and then sprinted off towards the fireflies. This had to be the best day of her life so far. She made a good friend, got to run around a lot, swim and splash and now play with new bugs that she’d never even heard of before! “C’mon guys!” she called back to the two that were trailing behind.
Mel chuckled and followed after the filly. This was also the first time he would have seen these fireflies but after his last encounter with Porsche he at least knew about them. He looked back over his shoulder to make sure she was coming before continuing after his daughter. “Now Kahili, you can’t try and eat them like you usually do, okay? There are nice bugs, fun to watch and play with so don’t be mean.” Not that she actually caught anything anyway but it never stopped her from trying.

Both Mel and Kahili looked completely entertained by the bugs, and Porsche stayed back just a tad so they could have a fun moment together. She would always remember a time when her own father took her out to see fireflies. "They are very nice as bugs... and they are always happy for company." she then added, while watching some fly around her as well. Apparently she and her friends weren't a threat, since countless fireflies started appearing around them. It was dark enough too, so the land was becoming much brighter from the little bugs. "They are amazing as creatures, look at how much brighter it is now!" Even the moon couldn't compete with them!

Kahili bounded around through the swarms of glowing orbs and giggled as she watched them fly around her. Her eyes lit up with excitement and she continued to dance around through the bugs. “They’re so awesome!” she exclaimed, smiling brightly up at Porsche. I can’t believe I haven’t seen them before. But I’ll definitely look for them all the time now!” And with that she bounded off once again to play with the bugs.
But it didn’t take too long of bouncing and running before the filly finally had to stop and she gave a big yawn. A big day of running and exploring had taken its toll on the small foal’s body and soon it would be time to sleep, to rest up for another day of fun. She noticed that her dad had lay down and she knew the routine. Whenever she got too tired, he would carry her to a place for the night to sleep. Once she was settle on his back, her legs sprawled out on each side and her head against his neck, she yawned once more.
Mel was also fully enjoying the time with the fireflies but knew that it was time for all of them to head home for sleep. He stood up carefully once she was situated on his back and turned to Porsche. “It seems it’s time for us to be heading off and I’m sure you need to be getting home too.” He stepped forward and gave her cheek a light nuzzle with a smile. “It was great to see you again and I hope we’ll see each other again. I’m sure a certain someone will track you down one day to come see her new best friend again,” he chuckled lightly. “Have a safe trip back home, Porsche.”

It definitely was that time of the night, and Porsche yawned herself before watching the two approach her with the news of the goodbye. It was late enough where everyone needed to part, and although a part of her was sad she knew that she would see the two of them again! "Aw, thank you for letting me spend the day with you both, and I hope you have a safe return yourself. I had so much fun... Continue to have fun, both of you! And laugh and enjoy your childhood times!" she then exclaimed, while nodding energetically. They were both so alike and cute as father and daughter, and it was really a pleasure to see them both together. "Well, until next time!" and with that, she bounded off in hopes of finding her own family quickly. She'd make her way quickly before all of the light in the sky vanished for the nighttime.
