(( Yeah there's all kinds of room for innuendo here. xD ))
"Yeah, I like it anyway. A lot of people would say, 'A mustang? How cliche!' But it's my first car so I'm really excited about it!" The unicat hung lightly on the rat's arm, skipping a little as they walked. His ears perked at Adrian's question and he looked up at him curiously. "Well, I learned on an automatic, but it's kind of silly to work on something you don't even know how to drive, isn't it?"
(( Gah. xD
I was going to suggest we jump ahead to arriving, but this is kind of amusing, LOL. Soon, I guess. xD They have a ways to go unless someone gives them a ride. ))

"As long as you like it and Mustangs are nice cars. Yeah, it is pretty stupid to work on something you can use." Adrian just shook his head. He had forgotten how innocent his boyfriend was. "Nevermind, Carlos. When is he going to teach you how to drive it?" The rat wanted to know, so he could come and watch to see how badly well the unicat picks up on driving a stick. "How bad is your house right now?"

Carlos shrugged off... whatever it was. Adrian would tell him eventually, if it was something he needed to know. "We'll go out hopefully pretty soon... maybe when things settle down around home. It's kinda funny, we've already got two new people moving in but they don't have rooms yet because it's not stabilized enough yet to expand..."
To answer Adrian's question he continued, one sentence flowing into the next. "It looks like a construction site. It looks mostly finished from the outside but the grass is trampled and there are the posts... But it's pretty busy and it's loud inside from all the hustle and bustle. People can actually go places now, but everyone's trying to finish rebuilding..."

Adrian stared at the unicat. "You have two new people moving in when you don't have rooms for them? What moron thought that would be a good idea?" Yes, he is still an arse, even around his boyfriend. "You guys aren't messing anything up are you? You know, if you don't do the foundation right, you're screwed,right?"

Carlos laughed. "Well it's a funny story... one of them was camped out on our lawn when we came back. I mean, it looked like an empty lot, and I guess he was homeless, so when we opened up, he suddenly had a new neighbor. He's pretty nice, just a little down on his luck. The other guy... I don't know much about him, but apparently he's a friend of my dad's." The unicat shrugged, though he was not sure about this guy at all and instinctively leaned against Adrian.
"But don't worry about the house. Mel knows some things about construction and a few of the guys around the place know how to get the rest to work. I guess I just have to trust that it won't cave in again. They've said it won't happen again..."

"Again, which moron thought it would be a good idea to have them move in when they don't have rooms? I know they don't have places, but don't have them move in until you have the space. Any idiot would know that." He didn't see why anyone would want someone moving in when there wasn't space for them, regardless of the reason.
"Speaking of your dad, is he going to be at the house?" Adrian wouldn't admit it out loud, but he actually didn't mind Jimi being around. The rat would deny it if anyone asked. It took him how long to admit that he liked Carlos out loud? Plus, everyone needs a drinking buddy!

"That's how it usually happens though. We don't add on rooms until they're needed. They will have rooms in a few days, I'm sure." He didn't think all that much about it; he knew his home was strange but it usually worked out for everyone.
"I think so. He sometimes wanders off and does his own thing, but he will probably be there helping out. Why?" Carlos angled his head slightly to peer up at Adrian with a faint smile. Needless to say, this made the unicat very curious. Why would he inquire about his father? He'd mentioned him several times already...

Adrian shrugged. "Whatever. If it was my place, they wouldn't step foot in there until they had their own section of the place, but this isn't my place, so whatever." The rat didn't bother with asking anymore questions.
"I need to know whether I have to be...nice to you or not. If he's not there then I can be an a** to you," he said in a completly serious voice, even though the rat was just pulling Carlos' leg. He wanted to see the others reaction to that. "If your dad is there then I have to be...nice." He wrinkled his nose at the word nice.

Carlos grinned but did not reply. If it was Adrian's place... what would it be like, he wondered? If it was Carlos' place... what would it look like, for that matter? If it had a garage for a car and lots of pillows, he would probably be happy wherever he was.
The unicat's eyes bugged out a little at the rat's reply. He had to be joking. If so, he was masterful at deadpan humor. "Well," Carlos said finally, looking ahead of them with a swish of his tail and a little toss of his hair, "as long as you don't make me cry, you should be safe."

Adrian watched as the unicat's eyes bugged out and smirked on the inside. "If he's there, then I can't make you cry, unless I'm feeling suicidal. If he isn't there, then I could make you cry with no immediate repercutions, having time to run and hide from your dad," he continued to speak in a completley serious tone. He was enjoying himself, his eyes had a little spark in them.

Okay, he was definitely joking. He looked like he might be trying not to laugh. Carlos stopped them by standing directly in front of Adrian, facing him. His eyes widened almost impossibly large, bigger than puppy-dog eyes. These things were moon-sized. "Would you... really do that to me?"

Adrian raised an eyebrow at the look Carlos is giving him. "I made you cry earlier, didn't I?" He was, of course still joking, he just wanted to see how far he could take this unitl the unicat called him on the joke, or broke down, which ever came first. "And by the way, that look doesn't work."

An eye twitched. Adrian was joking... but this was taking it a little far. His ears flattened back against his head and his eyes watered a little, which was not entirely part of the act. He was actually torn between keeping it going and kicking the rat's shin. Then he thought of a comeback. "Well why do you think I'm going out of my way to get you to come to my house? They're all going to tie you up and roast you over a bonfire in the back yard." The unicat spun on a heel with a little, "Hmph!" and continued pulling Adrian along.

Adrian realized he might have gone a little too far with what he said, but hey, he's never been very good with jokes, and he was also kind of testing Carlos a little bit, to see if the unicat still thought the worst of him. "Stop, Carlos. You actually believe I would make you cry after you showed me your house? I'm an a**, but not that much of one. I thought you would at least catch on to that. I guess I was wrong." The rat stepped away from Carlos. "And trust me, I woudn't taste very good." He turned away as if to head back to the shop and giving up on the unicat completely.

Carlos was actually trying not to laugh, and why he had turned away so quickly. When he spun around again, his cheeks were pink from it. "Wait, I though you were joking! So I was joking too..." How could he possibly think they would actually tie him up? The very idea was horrific, though he supposed there were those where he lived that would consider such a thing... He followed Adrian and took his arm in hand, tugging back toward his house lightly. "I'm not letting you change your mind about coming that easily! I still have to prove to you that I'm not lying!"
