The lioness considered their surroundings with a low sigh, hearing his agreement. It seemed like the things she wanted to say, she couldn't.. Because weren't the males supposed to do that? Weren't they supposed to tell a female she was beautiful and fierce and they wanted her with them for the rest of their lives?
When he spoke her head turned, brow arching in question. He could declare he owned a rock, loved said rock, even discuss whether or not that rock would pass to his offspring.. But he had trouble with that? It wasn't even 'I love you'....
"Just like?" She prompted. "Like you like the rest of my family? Or something more?"
It wasn't a fair question, but she asked it anyway. Because the truth was, she'd loved Tala since her youth, even if she hadn't realized it at first...

Tala stared at the female before him like she'd grown a second head. Of course he liked her more than her family! He loved her! Didn't she see...Ooohhh.
THIS was what Sano had be talking about yea? Where females needed you to tell them exactly what you were feeling because they weren't like males...Then again, why the hell was he taking romantic advice from Sano? He'd left his pride, and the girl he loves, to go take over his fathers pride until he returned, whenever that was going to be. He wasn't going to let Rey slip away from him like Sano was letting Imha.
"No..." He rumbled, stepping up to her, "No I don't like you the way I like your family. I can't say I want cubs with your mother, that's for sure... Nor do I want to spend the rest of my days with one of your brothers..."
Was that obvious enough for her? Maybe he should just spell it out...Cryptic was not his strong suit..."I love you, Rey."

She blinked at the way he was staring at her, lifting a brow in surprise and mute question. Yep, in that moment, she had to admit one thing... Females would probably never understand males anymore then males would understand females...
As he spoke, she had to fight the urge to laugh. Her father would have killed him for even considering it.. And the idea of him settling down in a cave with Kelakohr made her giggle in spite of the situation. Though the urge to laugh was immediately quelled.
He, loved her?
She was smiling like mad as she practically pounced him, giggling softly. "Really, Tala? I've been in love with you for as long as I've known you..."
She licked his cheek and smiled. "I would love to be with you for the rest of our lives, if that's what you want."

Tala was caught off guard when she pounced on him, grunting and toppling over on to his back. But he was more stunned by the words that came out of her mouth. He'd THOUGHT the pounce meant he'd said something right. But you never knew with females... They were weird sometimes.
She loved him? Well hell...As long as she'd known him? Double hell! That had been since she was born! He was there when her and her sibling were born...
"Since you were a cub? Since we were cubs?" He shook his head at his own idiocy. How could he have missed it? He'd have had so much more time with her if he'd paid the slightest bit of attention...
"You love me..." He mused, staring at her for a moment. "Really? Are you sure?"
He laughed, returning the lick. "That is what I want. More than anything on this plain... I'd give up my rock if that would make you happy..."

She imagined that her earlier expression of surprise was rather like the one he was wearing currently. Well, they were just shocking each other stupid left and right, weren't they?
"Of course." She replied, utterly serious. "You were so smart and brave.. I adored you even then..."
And she had, and those silly, cub-hood infatuations had grown into this. "Yes, I'm quite sure."
Silly male.
"Oh you would, would you?" She glanced to said rock, then shook her head. "I love you enough you can keep your silly rock..."

Tala gave her a dopey grin, leaning up to nuzzle her cheek. She loved him, but not half as much as he loved her. He'd had no idea that she felt this way about him. "I had no idea Rey... You were always so independent, I never thought you'd fall for anyone, let alone me..."
Tala smiled up and her, licking her chin. "I would do anything for you. Absolutely anything." He paused, grinning up at her after a few seconds. "How bout we make it 'our' rock instead of just mine?"
