Namon walked into his room and collapsed on his bed. However, no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't sleep.
I'm the third seat!
Namon sat upright and thought about what this meant. He'd have to be more responsible about what he did, and he would have to take better care of the squad.
He could do that, right?
After what we've been through the past year, no sweat.
It would be easy pickings for us!
Namon ignored the voices and continued to think the details through. It wasn't long till sleep overcame him...

Huffing slightly, Nagi carried Kesui over the last step as he finally made it to the second landing of the division barracks. He had forgotten which room belonged to the boy so he had to consult the room roster before climbing up. To his dismay, it was the furthest room away. Even though Kesui wasn't that heavy at first, it was beginning to wear and tear on Nagi's arms to carry the boy so far. At least he was close to the room now and close to being able to relive his aching muscles.

Sliding open the third room door with his foot, Nagi stepped inside, and was easily able to locate the futon for the room was lit with natural sunlight through the glass window panes. Kneeling down, he rolled the boy onto the sheets and rocked back on his heels once the load had been reduced. Letting out a sigh of relief, Nagi let the blood flow back into his arms for a moment before standing back up to open the windows and let some air in.

Glancing behind him, he made sure that Kei wasn't stirring in his sleep. Figuring the boy had earned his much needed rest, Nagi turned and strode out the door. He'd check on him later.

(( btw, Suri's room is up for grabs. She is living in her office for two reasons: 1. It allows her the freedom to come and go without bothering people and she can keep an eye on her office and work. 2. There's no way in **** that Suri would stay in the barracks if she was the only woman. Visitors don't count XD. ))

((Same Usually goes for Nagi but there's that rare time when he will use it (usually forced bedrest) I will take you off the room roster if you wish. It's no big deal to me ^^))

Ryan slid a bit as he stopped - he still needed to work on that aspect of shunpo a bit more. Walking slowly into Nagi's room, Ryan placed Nagi on his bed gently, allowing him to rest.

As he was about to leave, Ryan realized one last thing. He turned around and picked up a pad that lay on the table next to Nagi's bed. Pulling a pen that he usually carried with him from an inside pocket, he began to write.

'Captain Nagi,
I'm probably not here if you're reading this. Because of the onset of war, I think I should tell you a few things. First, once my pen writes the last word on this page, I'm going to go off and do a small training exercise. I feel like I'm still a burden on the captains as a whole, so I don't think it should be hard to determine what my training exercise is - here's a hint anyway: it involves swords and dolls.

But that's not the point. My point is the two things I've been keeping from you. I know that you know - it's not too hard to tell. Even if it wasn't you that knew for sure, whatever - or whoever - can poke around in my memories probably confirmed it. Whatever it is inside your head, it probably knows about what I'm going to tell you now.'

My last story begins in the summer of 1948.

Ryan Feldric lies on a bed in a small house, on the Saskatchewan prairie. It has been long years since he has been in this house - seventeen long years. Ryan Feldric was born here.

"Mr. Ryan...do you need anything? You look awfully weak." Mary's voice comes to him as if from a dream, and Ryan sits up in bed. Pulling a tissue from the bedside table, he coughs into it then looks in. The familiar tinge of red is there, more than ever.

Involuntarily, Ryan falls back down. He can't sit up again, and it is now he knows that the next time he goes to sleep, he will not be waking up again.

Ryan Feldric has tuberculosis. He is dying.

"Mary..." His voice is almost hoarse from the soreness in his throat. Red-haired Mary Higgins, who has been tending to Ryan ever since he took to his bed, sits in her chair next to him. "...I need you to stay here for a couple minutes, Mary."

"Whatever you wish, Mr. Ryan. Are you sure you don't need anything?

"One last thing, Mary...please just call me Ryan."

Mary nods. "All right, M-, rather, Ryan..."

Looking up at Mary, Ryan raises a hand weakly, gently running it down her cheek. Mary's face begins to turn a light pink as she grasps his hand, but she smiles. Ryan does too, and he knows he finally has to say what has been eating at him for the past three or four years. Something he should have said long ago. "Mary..."

"Yes, Ryan?"

"I love you, Mary..."

Mary's eyes open almost in shock. She clutches Ryan's hand tightly, not wanting to let go as a tear appears in her eye. "I love you too, Ryan...

"Mary, promise me...promise me that you'll never forget me, all right? And promise me that you'll wait...and I'll be waiting for you too."

Mary closes her eyes, shaking her head. "No, Ryan...you're going to be fine. You're going to be just fine...just sleep, Ryan. You'll wake up tomorrow and you'll get better, and I can make you soup. Then we can go out...Regina, Calgary, Vancouver...yes, take me to see Vancouver, to see the forests and the coastline and the lights over the water at night. We'll spend forever together, Ryan..."

Ryan smiles a bit more. It makes him happy to see her speak of these things, and yet he knows they will never happen. "Mary...I'm dying. Please, just promise me those things..."

Mary shakes her head more. "You're not dying...I promise, yes, of course, but you're not dying, Ryan. You aren't going to die now..." She leans forward, almost kissing him...then stops. "You're sick...I shouldn't. I'm sorry..."

"Not you're fault I'm sick, Mary. I wish I could, but I don't want you sick as well..."

"You'll be better, Ryan. Just sleep...please? For me?"

Ryan feels his eyes closing - he can't hold it off much longer anyway. Nodding, he lets his eyes close for the last time. "All right...I love you, Mary."

"I love you too, Ryan. Goodnight, and sleep well..."

"Goodnight...and farewell, Mary."

"Not farewell, s-silly..."

As Ryan's eyes finally close and he feels himself drifting off to sleep, suddenly he realizes he is wide awake, and standing in a corner of the room. He sees Mary, sitting, and then laying her head on his chest. "You're not going to die, Ryan...you're not..." He knows she can hear his heart slowing as he sees his own breathing slow. Mary's grip grows tighter as Ryan's heart beats once, twice, a third time...once more, and then falls silent. "You're not...dying...you'll wake up...Ryan...RYAN!"

The rest he hears is hysterics. He hears Mary cry and scream his name, that he's going to wake up, that he'll be fine, that he is not dead, he is not dead, he is not DEAD and he'll be fine in the morning. It goes on for an eternity as Ryan himself wishes he could turn the clock back. Go back two, three years, and tell her earlier. Spend time with her...maybe not go to Europe, maybe just go to Calgary instead, or to Vancouver.

As he sees the hired man, Mary's father, come in, he knows that there is no going back. Mary's father has to forcefully pull Mary off of Ryan's body, and even then, she is still crying for him. She will sit there and cry for weeks afterward, and Ryan in turn will watch her sleep.

And some mornings, Mary will wake up, look in his direction for an instant, and smile, before getting up and going to get dressed.

'That is my first, my death. My second memory should be my last. I don't think I have anything else to say after this one...'

(( The second memory is a part of my bankai training, so go read that ))

'...and that is it. The rest is history. Sixty years in exile, then I finally came to Soul Society.

Time is really of the essence, so I'm going to stop here. Chase me if you wish, but if I die, I die. There's no stopping it.

-Ryan Feldric, Captain of 6th Division'

With that, Ryan replaced the pen in his uniform and left, using shunpo to head for 6th Squad.

Walking up to his room, looking like a zombie, Deco throws himself to the bed, just to remember he had the weights Kiba made and the two swords on him, so he puts those things on the floor and sleeps.

"Where am I now?" Nagi asked while glancing around the long dark hallway. He had never seen this place before. At least it wasn't within his current memory and there was no real familiar feeling to it either. As he took a few steps forward, he noticed that he was feeling a bit light headed. This feeling was definately something he recognized.

"Tenchi?" he gasped, startled at the idea of the spirit somehow leaving his body. "Tenchi, you there?"

No reply.

Slightly panicked, he continued forward, taking careful steps as he walked. Luckily there were no obstructions to trip upon or run into other than walls. As he kept moving, various thoughts were flooding his mind. It was almost blinding- all these images and words scrambled together in a sickening chaos. This notion was happening more and more it seemed. There was no way to shake it. Was he really starting to lose his focus that badly?

Now using the wall to guide him, Nagi walked until there was a feint light up ahead. Glad to finally come to the end, which seemed to take forever, he smiled that there was some hope of him getting out of here. However, as he got closer, he noticed many objects standing before him- silhouettes in the light. His eyes took a moment to adjust as he focused in on them. Not a moment too soon did he realize that they were people that he knew. Now running, he advanced forward until he was inside a large white room full of life-sized shinigami statues. The light, which was nothing more than a simple spotlight mounted to the ceiling, casted the shadows in all directions.

"What is this?" he asked out loud as he began wandering around, examining the people as he passed. There was a familiar uneasiness within this room. It seemed like he knew this feeling well yet he still couldn't put his finger on where he felt it before.

"It's sad... isn't it?" a voice asked, echoing around the walls as it reached Nagi's ears.

"Who's there!" Nagi called, turning his heel while his blue eyes nervously and anxiously darted around.

"You know who I am..."
the voice responded. "But what is more important is that you know who these people are... look around you. Their faces are familiar to you for you have seen them all before even if you do not remember."

Deciding to listen to whoever it was, Nagi glanced over to the nearest statue to doubtfully see a face he knew well.

"What?" he gasped, staring back at the stone face of Fefnir, who's face was frozen in an expression of anger. As he stepped back a bit, he suddenly began to see and recognize every face that was inside the room. Each appeared to be angry or grieved as if they were all in some kind of pain. "I don't understand... why are they like this?"

It was at that point that Nagi was frozen in his tracks. His blue eyes widened, now realizing that he was standing within the gotai 13 meeting hall. It made no sense as to how the room suddenly morphed into what it was now but it no longer concerned Nagi for he now found himself standing next to the short statue of Daven, facing everybody who had attended the meeting earlier that day. It didn't take too long for Nagi to see himself standing next to Yuki and Onlalim. The statue of Yuki was looking at the statue of Nagi with concern in her eyes as the statue of Onalim had a hold of his hand.

Suddenly, as if the audio was suddenly turned back on, there was a laughter- a hair-raising laughter that made a sudden uncomfortable fire grow within his chest. Nagi knew this voice. Baring his teeth, he spun around to see Hogosha, standing behind the statue of himself with Yuki and Onalim in his arms. The monster gave him a glare before departing, taking the women with him.

"No!" Nagi shouted, darting forward, reaching out to nothing. He knew what this was now- it was the same scene that kept flashing through is mind for several hours. In a mixture of anger and frustration, Nagi halted to the statue of himself, which now stood along. Lifting his arm, he slammed his fist against the chest of the statue, glaring at it angrily.

"Why couldn't you do anything?" he asked it as if it were able to understand. "Why did you just stand there?"

"He stood there because that was all he could do."

Letting out a gasp, Nagi backed away as Tenchi-kyougai, the entity that had somehow left his head, was suddenly looking at him over the statue's shoulder. His cold dilated eyes stared into Nagi's blue ones as if he were looking right through them and into his head.

"Don't you understand?" The dark angel grinned. "It took you this long to find this place... This place is the world that exists inside of you. This is where I live. This is what I see when I am not looking through your eyes. Now that your body is finally asleep, your mind is finally able to come here."

"You mean it's like a dream?" Nagi asked in shock. "Only... I can't believe this."

"Yes." Tenchi nodded, now stepping out to face his other half. "All shinigami have this sort of world where their zanpkau-to dwells. You have been unable to come here since you and I share a different bond. We are able to communicate and see from each other's perspectives up to a certain point since we share the same body. However, this place still exists and there's no denying that the less you sleep, the more twisted it becomes. This is why you are starting to feel so restless and confused. I don't give a damn how hard you work and how much you push your body to its limit. It is screwing with me in the long run and I cannot accept that and neither can you. You need to get this image out of your head and stop feeling sorry for yourself."

Speechless, Nagi slightly glanced away, back at the statue of himself, which did look pretty pathetic for he looked weary and sad. This wasn't the person he didn't want to be. What Tenchi was telling him the truth, but like any other unfortunate fact, it still hurt a bit. Despite this, he knew that he had to do what he needed to do. Being sad and angry about it wasn't going to help matters at all.

"Now then..." Tenchi grinned while tilting his head slightly to the side as he folded his arms across his bare chest. "I think it's time you woke up. There's s**t to do and you don't have time to sit around and mope. Wake the hell up."

Letting out a gasp, Nagi quickly sat up to view a dark room. The cool atmosphere and the comfortable futon beneath him helped him quickly realize where he was. As the sheet slid off him while he sat up, he let out a groan while rubbing his eyes for they were practically glued shut from dried tears. His body felt damp with sweat and he no doubt smelled kind of funny too. He felt groggy and a bit dizzy but despite all these facts, he felt more refreshed than before. There was no doubt that sleep was definately something he had needed for quite a while.

Did Ryan carry me all the way back here?
he thought to himself, slightly embarrassed and unable to believe that he really did pass out. Letting out another gasp, he realized that he had no idea of how long he was asleep for. There were too many things to be done for him to be sleeping so long! Twisting himself around, Nagi placed both feet on the floor and stood up. First thing was first- clean up, change of clothes, and bolt the heck out of here! He had to find Suri and gather everyone together to find out what was going on now.

As he removed his haori and black coat, he removed his glasses from the inside pocket and placed them on his bed stand. As he did so, he found a note- obviously written by somebody. Now curious, Nagi picked it up and began reading- his eyes widening with ever word he read.

"Ryan..." he sighed, his blue eyes began to feel sticky once more. He couldn't quite put his finger on it but for some reason, he knew exactly how the boy felt- he just didn't agree to the dying part. If anyone was going to die for Yuki's sake, it would be Nagi. Though the fact was only known to the dark angel living within him, it was in his nature to sacrifice himself for those he loved. Feeling more determined than before, Nagi folded up the letter and placed it beside his glasses.

Because he was eager to get moving, Nagi managed to clean and dress in no time at all. Before he knew it, he was heading out the door, slipping the white hooded haori over his shoulders and placing his glasses and Ryan's note inside his pocket as he went.

He hadn't slept much since he had come back from his training, but the few hours he did get were restful enough, he was sitting on his bed meditating when he heard the captain leave his room. He gathered up his things, Suri had said that they were going to be going to earth. He tied on his cape, sliding the jitte into the back of his belt, he left his room, he walked by deco's room knocking on it as he passed "Time to go Deco." he said loud enough for the occupant to hear him as he walked after the captain.

After a few hours of sleep, Deco was ready to go to Earth, well, not yet, since he was still waking up, but he felt like he was. the words "Time to go Deco" made he run to the shower, and when he came out, clean, he felt way better than ever, because he was excited. Wearing the normal shinigami clothes, he took the two sword and placed the zanpakutou on his right side and the katana on his left side, both at his waistline.

After changing, Deco ran out after Raz.

Masato steps out of the War room and onto the porch. He slips on his straw sandals and throws his bag over his shoulder and looks around the 5th Squad campus. After a few seconds he spots in the distance the barracks and starts walking over to the building. He walks slowly to take in the view of the campus making sure he takes mental notes of what buildings are where in the event of an attack.

While walking he reviews what was said in the meeting and a smile comes to his face knowing that he is on an experienced team. A team that has seen combat and lived to tell about it. Before he knows it, Masato is standing in front of the squad barracks. He looks up at the beautiful workmanship that was put into making the barracks. The building and grounds around it are well kept as well. Masato says to himself, "I'm gonna love this place!! The beauty of it alone is breath taking!!"

Masato walks up to the front door and takes off his straw sandals. He then opens the door and enters the building. Looking around he finds a wall with a roster of who is in what room. Not seeing his he drops his bag and sits down on the floor waiting for his room.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 19, 2008 7:59 pm

Masato is sitting on the floor and just starts to fall asleep sitting up when he hears someone walk in and post a new roster on the bulletin board. He jumps up and says, "Excuse me sir .... you wouldn't happen to have my room for me yet would you?"

The staff member says, "Yes sir I do. You are assigned to room #4 on the second floor and here is your key. I hope you enjoy ..." after handing the key to Masato the staff member leaves to building.

Masato grabs his bag and heads upstairs to his room. After letting himself in he unpacks his things and heads back out to find his team.
