Gravechylde I'm unsure as to whether or not I think metal should stay underground (though I know it always will be). On one hand, it'll be easier to find the albums you're looking for, but on the other hand it'll end up being overrun by even more crappy bands.

Purist is more like saying that any band that wants to be in a genre has to stick to strict guidelines that aren't actually requirements of the genre. Like saying all power has to have clean high pitched singing, or that all black metal must be satanic/anti-religious. Ok, it's not a big deal, just saying that's where the snob part came into play.
