How did peacocks come to hang out at your house anyways? Do they just roam the area?
Our guess is that a person on a neighboring street has a lot of animals. We already know he has a Donkey / Mule. The peacocks originally appeared out of nowhere... maybe there was half a dozen of them at one point? The flock of twenty
guineas are also guessed to have come from there. (Now, there's only three peacock and one guinea remaining... they hang out together on our back porch... it's funny to see the guinea learning to act like the peacocks.)
I assume the peacocks decided to hang out at our home because of our trees and fence. Basically, unlike most of the trees in the area, we've got a lot of climbable ones which rise as high as our roof (two story house), twisted in a sort of dome-like protective-feeling area. When we first found out about the peacocks, they were in our trees.
Next, they began loving the back yard. There's moving space and it's surrounded by a somewhat intact privacy fence, meaning it's easy to get in and out and difficult to be seen.
The back porch, in particular, is really good. Lots of places to perch, just underneath the tree "dome", hard to be seen from a distance thanks to the fence... and also they really like the compost heap. (It's common to see them picking through it, anyways.)
Hmmm... describing it makes me want to take pictures. Perhaps tomorrow I'll remember to do that!
