The colt rolled his eyes. "I know. She still loves me, even though she's busy at the moment she still cares, blah, blah, blah." He'd heard it all before. It wasn't that he didn't listen, it was that he didn't really believe any of it.

Yazmina lifted her head and shook out her mane a bit. Poor colt. She really wasn't helping much, was she? "Do you really know it," she wondered. "Or do you just think so because we adults keep saying it over and over?"

Amitola fluttered his wings as if shrugging. "Well, I guess I kind of know it, but..." He sighed. "She just keeps getting busier and busier every time I go to tell her something, or show her something I learned. It just gets kind of disappionting, is all." The colt smiled anyway. "But guess what! Auntie Midori says she's going to take just me out to choose flowers to pick and give them to Mommy!"

She could certainly understand that. "You must be learning a lot, very quickly. Maybe she's having a hard time keeping up with you. You could save up all the things you learn in a day and only tell them to her once or twice. A special time, like before you go to sleep for the evening?" She beamed at his new smile. "Really? That sounds like it would be fun. And your mother will like them, I'm sure."

Amitola thought about it for a moment. "You know, that's a really good idea! But... Sometimes I forget stuff. Like, this one time, I forgot that Auntie Midori's name was Midori, not Auntie." He nodded. "I hope so. What if she's a... a..." The colt had to stop a moment to think of the word. "Right! What if she's allergimic to them, though?"

"Well." That was a fair and very valid question. But. "Don't you think you'd know if she was allergic to flowers already? Spring's come and gone," she offered, "and there are always lots of flowers in spring. If she was allergic, she'd already have been sneezing or itching or sniffling, wouldn't she? So. If she hasn't done any of those things, she's probably not allergic."
She hoped.

Amitola nodded. But... Did he see his mother during the spring? He couldn't really remember. "I don't remember her ever doing that stuff... I don't really remember seeing Mama during the spring, though." The foal knitted his brow as the thought. "Ooo! I did see her! Miss Midori brought me to her teepee, and we went exploring!" He became excited, but couldn't remember if they'd gone to see any flowers.
