"Hmm, well..." Valerian's eyes glanced about, searching for an apt place to observe the stars. "I'm sure we can manage to stop it before it eats any more." He chuckled softly, tail curling contentedly behind him. As he was about to open his mouth again, he was suddenly sprayed with another wave of water, jumping in surprise when it hit.
"Hey, watch it!" he laughed, turning to the side to keep himself from getting water in his eyes. He turned back, grinning, fiery orange mane dripping again and plastered to his forehead. He shook the wet hair from his eyes and looked up, spotting a prime vantage point.
"Come on!" Valerian bounded towards what he had seen. A little hill, covered with thick, green grass, overlooking a small vale and with a perfect view of the sky. His large paws found their way quickly, and he soon stood atop it, smiling down at where Cali was.

Cali was about to apologize for the water, when Val all the sudden took off up a hill. She giggled and pulled the last few strands of hair from her eyes. "Hey, wait up!" She called out, smiling.
Not quite as fast on land as in the water, it took Cali a little longer to reach Val. When she did finally make it, she bounded up too fast to slow down in time and skidded into a low bush.
She rolled out of the leaves on her back, covered in bits of stick and dirt. "Good thing that bush was there!" She grinned and got to her feet, shaking off the debris.

Valerian shifted from paw to paw, maw pulled back into a wide, toothy grin as he watched her approach. He was about to open his mouth to speak, instead letting out a soft gasp of surprise as she collided with the bush.
"Oy, you okay?" he called worriedly, already approaching the spot where she had disappeared. He was greeted by her and heaved a soft breath of relief at seeing that she was unharmed.
"You might have just tumbled over the other side of the hill," he teased, reaching out his muzzle to playfully nose at her shoulder, "Then either you'd have to run back up, or I'd have to come down for you." He laughed, throwing his head back and ruffling his damp mane about his shoulders.

With a slightly embarrassed grin, she craned her neck to look down over the side of the rocky hill. "You definitely would have had to come get me," she laughed.
Flicking a few strands of hair from her eyes, she glanced up at the sky where the sun was just beginning to set. The blue was fading into a deep orange with swirls of pink. "Wow. This is a great view!"
She turned to head-but Val lightly on the shoulder. "Good choice!"

Valerian's grin widened a little bit more, stark white teeth gleaming in a content smile. "Then I think we'd just find another hill," he replied, giggling softly, "This one would be too much of a trouble."
Laughing again, he turned towards the sky, sitting back onto his rump with a soft thud. The stars were just beginning to peek out from their hiding places, the sun shrinking rapidly against the horizon. "Looks like it's retreating," he muttered in mock seriousness, "The stars are proving too tough for it to prey on them."
Grinning broadly, he looked intently at the sky, eyes alight with something between amusement and mischief. "It's beautiful already," he started, "Even though it's not really night yet."

Calidrya took a deep breath of the cool night air and flopped over onto her back at Val's side. Her paws rested across her chest and her bright green hair splayed out to form a pillow.
"Well," she cocked her head thoughtfully as she watched more and more stars appear, "there are quite a lot of stars, maybe the sun is intimi... intibin...intimibidated... Or whatever that word for being scared of something is."
She grinned up at Val's face above her, his head framed by his orange hair and the fading night sky. "You look like a giant from down here," she giggled.

He shifted himself, lying down onto his stomach like a large sphinx. "I've always been told I was a bit small, but okay," he laughed, "Is this better?" His tail swayed back and forth behind him before it curled up around the back of his haunches and settled there.
"There must be too many of them tonight," he commented, nodding as thousands of stars seemed to suddenly be visible if you looked at the sky long enough, "The sun is just fighting a losing battle."
He shook his mane out of his face, front legs stretching out as far as they would go, a large yawn escaping his lungs. "Must be tiring, fighting back the sun all the time, you know?"

Cali glanced sideways at Val and nodded with a grin. "Much!" She then used a paw to blot out the last rays of the sun so she could see the stars more clearly. "Yeah, they do look pretty tired."
She replaced her paw to her chest and closed her eyes. "I think fighting the sun would be kinda scary. I don't think I could do it. I don't like hot things." She shook her head with a grimace, thinking about how hot the sun must be.
