She was about to agree with Evan that they could go upstairs to find a quieter corner when she noticed a young woman standing next to her, obviously waiting to be noticed.

"Can I help you?"
PostPosted: Mon Sep 26, 2005 2:52 pm

Standing a little straighter she nods in responce to the owners question. Her solomn expression slowly fading into a smile, half appologetic for interrupting and half 'dealing with public' friendsly. She looked the other woman in the eyes as she spoke,

"I am sorry for interrupting, my name is Nixxy, I was wondering if you had any job placements still available in the cafe or book section. I can do either, I have a resume and references upon the second page."

She held out the resume, still feeling she was interrupting and wanting to keep the meeting as short as possible. If she was able to get a job she could then go and look for a place to stay, but for now a job was first priority.

Evan casually smiled at the young woman as if to say, "our thing can wait." Then, something actually spoke to her- just in the back of her head- but she seemed to have a boost of confidence at these words. She wouldn't know where it came from, nor would she catch his smile afterwards.

Go for it. This place needs people anyways. Besides, you'll be perfect for this place.

((My apologies if this seems strange- but I'd like to try this out, if you'll let me. If not, just ignore it or have her notice it and get creeped out.))

((Yup.))

Evan smiled- it had worked out after all. There was no real need for her to worry, but the poor thing seemed nervous all over. He simply wanted to give her a bit of confidence- that was all. In any event, the whole thing was at an end and he needed to get things over with.

But still, he waited for the whole thing to come to a close- it would be rude to just drag Lucind upstairs on the drop of a hat.

Blinking slightly she glanced about for a brief moment before focusing fully back at Lucind. Nodding she finally let a smile flit across her features and her whole demeanor slowly shifted to something more relaxed.

Thank you, and yes Nixxy is fine. I will be back tomorrow. For now I will let you be, I have a few things to take care of beforehand myself.

She nodded once more, glancing to them both before turning back to her table. Slowly exhaling as she sat back down. Now to find a place to stay, slipping a hand in her pocket she pulled out the money for the sandwich and tea, then gathering her things up she headed for the register to pay and get a newspaper so she could look through the classifieds.

"Have a good day and see you tomorrow."
Her eyes followed Nixxy until she sat down, then Lucind turned around to look at Evan.

"Shall we go on," she asked and pointed with her open hand at the staircase.

The corner they sat in the previous day was free so Lucind chose the same armchair and crossed her legs after shoving herself deep into the upholstery.
Faint voices could be heard from up above on the third floor.
"I'm still not absolutely sure if it was a good idea to let the ceiling open like that." She leaned back her head
"It's fun standig up there on the railing looking down on shelves and other guests - but maybe it's bothersome for visiters of the library..."

Evan chuckled as he imagined how many people would be a bit creeped out by someone looking down on them from the roof. It wouldn't be that much of a problem as time went by, but still... it was funny. In any case, he sat down in the same chair he occupied and cleared his throat.

Well then, I guess I'm obliged to get the rest of the story to you. It would be rude to just leave you with half of it, though I'm sure you've figured it out by now. I'll assume you haven't though and continue on... that is, if you're ready.

He smiled at her and waited for her to say it was all right.

((Oyoy, there's not the roof over the library but the third floor with various possibilities to sit down, eating something or just hanging around with friends -> 1st post mrgreen ))

Tilting her head from one side to the other she smiled nonchalantly.
"Well, I've draw my own conclusions from your story's first part. But please go on - I'm ready for any surprises and twists."

*Enki slowly meanders through the town of Latent, not really looking for anything in perticular, just browsing around, enjoying the sites. Enki passed by one street as a rather familiar name on a sign caught his attention, Feimurgan. Enki turns toward it and walks inside, looking around inside the VERY upgraded book/cafe. Of all the things he missed about the Leviathan Stadium, he was glad that this was reborn in Latent. Enki always loved books and had a rather impressive collection himself, but he always loved going into Feimurgan to look at what new books had come in on the shelves and what neat little novels he could discover here*

(( mrgreen Forgive me for that. blaugh ))

He definitely hoped so. There were plenty of twists and turns in this story- and most of the conclusions that she had drawn from the last story would probably be right, from the information from the first one. In any case, he nodded and began again.

This story, believe it or not... is true. About a century and a half ago, a young man woke up in what is now known as Barton. Well, I wouldn't say woke up- more like he was born there, in a sense.

It still might not have been the best way to put it- but it was the only way he could think of for the moment.

The guy looked around age 21, according to accounts from witnesses. He had a massive head trauma that was supposed to be near-impossible to survive from... but he was unconcious. Or rather, in a coma. And he had been for three whole weeks. In any event, doctors worked on him feverishly for those three weeks, and he was pretty much back to normal... except for the fact that when he woke up, he remembered nothing. Name, age, birthplace, all unknown.

But there was certainly something interesting about him: He had the most blue eyes you ever saw. Such eyes looked like they could see forever.

He smiled as he waxed poetic for a bit, then his neutral expression returned.

In any case, the next few moments would be pretty bad... he went through the worst headache anyone had ever seen, saying things that didn't make sense. Maybe he was remembering something... or maybe he was just going insane. Whatever the case, the pain became so great that he was knocked out.

The next morning... he was gone. A note of thanks and his bed clothes were all that he left- apparently he had taken a new, clean set and made off in the middle of the night. For the next few months, no one heard anything of him again.

Accounts from a dojo in the eastern parts of Gaia state that said young man had entered, wanting to learn everything they could teach him. Of course, he didn't know how to fight... but he was determined to learn everything he could. So he learned the ways of the sword- how to fight by it, and how to live by it. Ken-jutsu, iai-jutsu, and naginata-jutsu.

Pretty soon, after about two years, he became the top student. Seeing as he had nothing else to learn, he declined on leading the class as an instructor... and moved on. But before he left, the sifu gave him a name. A name that would pretty much define his existance from that point forward.

The name was HeavenSong...

Evan shrugged and smiled sheepishly.

Over the next few years, he worked as a mercenary, bodyguard, hired satsujin-ken; a Blade of Murder, otherwise known as an assasin- you name it. But he found out that it wasn't the only thing he could learn. There was much more he had to master before getting what he wanted.

His expression turned grim.

What he wanted was revenge. He had been given the massive knowledge of ages... centuries... millenia. He could learn through watching, and repeat the motions perfectly. He didn't age, didn't get sick... and didn't remember a thing about how he got it or who he was. I think that's what pissed him off the most- the not remembering. Not to mention that forcing all that on him made his head hurt like hell.

Whoever gave him this mystery... he knew how to find out. And once he did, he would kill whoever made him suffer. But that story is for another day. Just know that he went to great lengths to learn how to handle any contingency- fight any opponent on any level. Period.

Evan shrugged and smiled sheepishly.

Lucind lifted one of her brows and her lips formed a mild smile.

Though concentrating on his voice, she still was conscious of her surrounding, therefore her ears involuntaryly twitched when they located a well known pace on the stairs. A quick glance to the right revealed Lucind that it was indeed Enki who had come to her store. Yet she didn't want to interrupt Evan - she could still address the blue haired man when he wanted to leave the floor or came closer.

When Evan had finished the second part of his story, she frowned and bit her lower lip.
"Do you... Besides from the fact of running crazy for not being able to remember one's own identity - isn't it a burden, to hold this vast amount of knowledge...of memories? Like something that might overwhelm or crush you any time?"

A man with long black hair, dressed in expensive black Armani and a silk red shirt stood by the books on the top floor, immersed in the book he held in his hand.

Looking up at Enki Leviathan as he walked past him, he pulled the pipe he had been puffing on out of his mouth and spoke up quietly, as if in a library. "Looking for something specific, or just browsing?" He asked, his tone neutral in the way a well-mannered man's voice should be.

His cool grey eyes watched the Leivathan carefully, one hand holding his book open whilst the other cradled his pipe, smoke puffing up like indian smoke-signals to be eradicated by the air conditioning. He would looked like a businessman, if he wore a tie - but the way his shirt hung open at the neck screamed 'playboy', giving the ladies just a hint of the tanned, toned flesh hidden within such expensive garments.

Much like a woman's cleavage, but more manly.

:: Oh my this place was so busy that someone like him probabaly wouldnt even be notices. People shopping for books, people shopping for people, people telling stories, people paying for newspapers, all of this and who would notice on man entering?

Granted, his clothes were a bit showy. They were a jet black, not a shiny black like expensive pants, but a jet black. He wore a long black hooded jacket which topped of somewhere around his shins. The jacket was perfectly fit to his body, not to light not to baggy as if it was made for him and on him. His hands were gloved and could be seen as they peeked out of his long sleaves, strange writing appeared on their back, very strange indeed. His boots, clacked against the floor like tap shoes, making a sort of rhythm to his steps, and most strange was the skull insignia on the heel of his black bloots. Every bit of close had a sort of grey lining. The line of the zipper of his coat, the fringe of his sleaves, hood, and jacket, everything.

But most outstanding for this strange man, was his hood. It was also black and like most hoods it hand two strings which could be used to tighten it hanging from below it, the strings hand little skull shaped bobbles to keep the rope from being pulled back into the hood.

And then there was his face...or would be more accurated described...what face? The Shadow of the hood cast a sheet of black down his face, nothing was seen inside, nothing at all, save for an eye. His right eye glowed a faint white, though strangely the glowing eye refused to illuminate the rest of the face, only itself. What a selfish eye?

Needless to say this figure of black didnt speak to anyone, he did not look at anyone, he did not acknowledge anyone. He sifted through the peoples and moved directly to a seat in the far back, and sat down. As he walked past once could see the rather large insignia on his back, it was stitched in a dull grey so as not to pop out. It was something like...

User Image

That. Except far less firey, and without such a thick black bordder, and it was placed out of view the moment he sat down and it was smudged away by the back of his chair.

This nameless and facely man stood quiet. And waited to be served. ::
