That was the signal. At the sound of it, and the sharp raise of his hand, the SeeD in the underbrush, him included, rose upwards, the sound of clicking, well over half of them leveling guns, and opening a wide spray of fire at the Galbadian Soldiers, those more magically inclined starting a spray of another kind of fire, and those who could physically fight, rushing forward to engage what soldiers they could. He stayed back, hand on his commlink.

"Gold Squadron, hold back until I signal otherwise. Pick off any straglers that manage to make it though."

Zell grinned evily and quickly tapped the comlink to acknowledge the real leader of this little fight. He was content with staying back now while gunners shot down soldiers since if they rushed in they mite get hit by friendly fire.

"Rodger, we got this, just be careful up there." Zell grinned abit and waited patiently for the signal and as each second passed by it felt like afew hours had gone by. Waiting was not his thing but he knew when to not be reckless and stupid.

Raising up on one knee, as do all his comrades around him, and they open fire. Every single one of them is wielding a LAW, and they're all aiming to lay down a spread pattern of explosive rockets to catch as many soldiers as they can in splash damage.

On other rooftops, heavy machine guns are opening fire, being as conservative with their shots as possible. Ammo is in the danger zone for the SeeDs, and they won't be able to get their hands on more until the Galbadians get into the city.

Somewhere in the back, the loud crack of a sniper rifle can be heard. That would be Irvine, Red Three. If nothing more, than they already know that one more Galbadian soldier is dead.

The Red members moving forward take cover at the corners of buildings and in alleys. They're all aware that Chris has booby-traps set all over town, and none of them are very keen on getting caught in them when he sets them off. Those down on the streets pick their shots carefully, only firing when they're sure they'll hit a head or torso, and ducking back into cover often.

A crack of a sniper rifle is indeed heard, but this time it's not from the SeeD unit. the man next to Alger, Aya, has pulled his own rifle, and with it in just one hand, one eye squinted slightly for the scope, picks off a magic wielding SeeD that came up just a hint too much. Ubel remains in his position as Aya readies another shot. Alger just watches while his units move in..a few falling to gunfire and magical attacks, but some get by with just injuries and keep going. These are strong soldiers..and more than that..he's going to add a little spice to the battle. Ubel shifts in front of Alger as the man begins moving his hands and arms in an arcane motion..his voice falling in depth as he begins a low droning chant...and the sky overhead starts to darken..

The long wait was beginning to annoy Delan, making her subconsciously put her hair up and yet re-tie it again several times over into a ponytail. At the abrupt crackling of her headset the teenager's heart gave a jump. "Copy that," was her answer, getting a bit disturbed by the explosion and the sound of distant bullets firing continuously. Turning to face her 'troops', she blew out: "We'll enter the zone of combat when I give the signal! Otherwise don't let a single Galbadian get past you!"

Spinning back around by 180-degrees Delan kept her eyes peeled for fleeing soldiers. Just thinking that word-soldiers-made her stomach uneasy. This was an actual war, she was aware of that, but her own personal connections with an army member made it harder to want to attack anyone in uniform indiscriminately because they weren't on your side.

Dropping down under cover as his comrades switch to rifles and trade fire with the soldiers approaching the town, Chris picks up his row of demolitions triggers as he hears a radio call go out.

"Red Three! Enemy sniper! Take him out!"

"I'm on him, Blue Two."

"We have a target trying to summon a GF. Red Three, take him if you can."

"There's only one of me!"

"Blue Leader. I saw him. He's mine."

Chris pays attention to the use of Rinoa's callsign, but otherwise ignores her attempting to cast a Blizzara on Ubel using her sorceress abilities to sense essences, instead of a true line of sight. Taking another peek over the wall, he notices the advance line is about midway down his line of traps.

Looking down at the row of triggers on his lap (think the things that Burt used in Tremors 2), he flips the red cover off of the switch with four slash marks below it and pushes the switch forward, then flicks the firing trigger's cover up at the end and presses it forward.

Twenty feet out from Balamb's gates, two claymore mines on either side of the main road explode, scattering a cone of shrapenl pointed relatively toward each other, sucking for whatever Bucketheads are caught between them.

Back down to his board, he flips a one-mark switch, then flicks the firing trigger forward again. This time, four claymores explode directly in front of the closest vehicle, these lined up so that their area of effect encompasses the entire area before them, including the vehicle and any soldiers near it.

The blonde haired man is towards the back of the main line, picking off those that manage to get through the SeeD, but he's steadily making his way through the crowd. For now, he's keeping to just his hands. His military training comes in great handy in this type of situation, always did, a fist slamming into the throat of a soldier standing over the body of one of the students, reaching down to haul the kid back to his feet, as he himself kept advancing.

He hadn't been in bloodshed like this since the massacre, as it had so been called. He's further towards the front line now, engaging whatever soldier he happens to come upon. His goal however, is apparent. through the melee, its the three men on the hummer.

It becomes clear though that what Alger's doing isn't a summoning real fast. He brings his hands together, and his eyes flash. Ubel of course, being the target of Rinoa's attack, is covered in a blast of ice..he slips down to one knee in the process. So..there was one amongst them. He hadn't been hurt enough yet to call on his Blue Magic. He'd leave the rest to Alger for now. He's better at close combat than this long range stuff.

Alger pays attention to nothing. When several men fall to the claymore mines, the air gets colder..then the sky opens up, and a swirling black vortex appears, rippling in a hurricane pattern above the sky. The vortex changes colors to blue, then a deep green, and little tiny..well..what look like little tiny angels flitter around everyone. They don't seem to do anything outwardly, no damage, etc. But there's a feeling of..cold..everyone feels. It's like this horrible dread, this fear of death. As if more than ever one's objective would be not so much winning..but not dying.

The sky closes up then, as normal as it was..Alger looking on. He gestures, and lifts one of the remaining vehicles with some kind of telekinesis..and flings it at one of the cover areas he can make out..the remaining Galbies fire from where they can..a few of them are pulling what look like flame thrower packs to begin strafing with.

With eyes the size of newly born craters opening on Delan's face, the eye of what looked like an unnatural tornado birthing itself in the sky. Even so far away from it something had changed. What the student couldn't say, but she was now worried for the well-being of the ones fighting - the students she didn't even know the names of, the upperclassmen she never looked up to. It simply made her want to barf. When the center of the thought-to-be storm closed and disappeared, the feeling remained within her.

"Is war really as ugly as this...this...unknowingness..?" she asked herself, arms tightening down at her sides. "This is...horrible..."

Aya fired a few more times, lancing the Balamb defenders with his high-caliber rounds.. He mentally kept track of his rounds. When it hit 15, he spun, dropping into a crouch, while thumbing the magazine release and digging into his fatigues, slapping in a fresh clip and chambering a round, all within a few seconds and without taking his eyes off the battle.

Up in his sniping position, Irvine waits, hunkered down, for the enemy sniper to fire another shot, to reveal his position. For him, this is no longer about getting their comrades to safety. It's become the deadliest cat-and-mouse game that war has to offer.

Up in his building, Chris has set off the last of the forward booby-traps, only lighting them when Galbadians were within the blast range. Of course, that isn't the last he has to say on the subject of big boomers for Galbies. There's plenty more inside the city. Then again, who's to say it'll all be used tonight? Galbadia will end up controlling the town after all...

Discarding the useless row of triggers, he picks up his bag of demolitions gear and his assault rifle, and makes his way down toward the street, having seen the flying pickup and gotten an idea.

Down on the street, he crosses to the vehicle under the unknowing cover of his allies, and strains to flip the truck back upright. Eventually he does just this, and hops into the driver's seat. He looks out at a couple of Red Squadron members and grins wickedly.

Hop in and hold on!

Not quite understanding what he has in mind but knowing that he has authority over them, one climbs into the passenger seat, two into the bed of the truck. They don't know what he has planned, but the armored woman who suddenly appears in the middle seat does.

"This is insane."

Yep.

"You're going to get us all killed."

Probably.

"And the only reason you're doing this is...?"

Run people over.

With that, he tosses a smirk over at Ele'sear before revving the engine and stamping down on the gas pedal, roaring through the streets of Balamb Town.

The girl standing beside Delan gave a laugh at the words of the woman, her red topped head turning slowly to face her. The girl was, definitely, at best, creepy.

::This is war. Isn't it beautiful?::

Down at her side, a blade started to manifest from a drop of blood upon her fingertip, flowing down fully, already saturated with sanguine liquid, the scent heavy in the air, coppery, almost like pennies, she seemed eager to begin the fight. Eager to make people die.

She frowns and tugs at her choker. Something that man did made it spark..she can feel a faint surge..is that..? Well, she's not worried about it right now..she runs from between buildings, taking cover from buckethead fire, occasionally throwing a Thundara spell or two at the enemy...with all that metal, she figures they're great conductors...right now Morrina's too concerned with covering her own a**. It takes everything she has not to cower and hide at the sight of so many of them..she remembers them well..

Aya aims again, and fels a bit of the barely strained sadistic streak that sometimes takes hold of his decisions, as he sights on a youn teen girl..A grin of simple derangement crosses his features as he aims and fires three shots, his high-calibre rounds exploding into both her breasts and out her back, ditto to her genitalia..She manages a gurling scream before whats left of her heart stops, and the sadismn passes, as he begins dispatching enemies with standard head shots.

The blade was in his hands, as he made his way through the SeeD. Unlike the rest of them, he was moving back, not forward. Sorceress bitches. They'd ruin everything, if he didn't hand them off to Alger.

He weaved through buildings, making towards the two women who would end up being the death of all SeeD.
