Had Teles spared enough thought to it, she would have realised that this little bout of play had pushed all the disappointment and hurt away in favour of the simple joy of being with a fox she loved. As it was, she couldn't spare a single second to thought as Taelence launched her counter attack. It happened so quick; all the rolling, nipping, licking, before they tumbled out of one another's clutches onto the soft grass by the pool.

Breathing a sigh, Teles looked at her friend with a grin, oblivious for several moments to her friend's devious look...and by the time she noticed it, it was much too late, anyway. She was shoved into the water and paniced for a moment until she managed to get right-side up, only to hear a loud splash as her friend dived in.

Her ears hanging to the side with the weight of the water, Teles glared sullenly at Tael.

"And I guess you needed one too, then?"

Still, her tone was teasing and her expression lightened considerably before she slapped her tail against the water, paddling out into the deeper area and peering below the surface of the water.

'Mmm, yummy fish...' She thought, flicking her tongue around the edges of her mouth. Pinning her ears back, she took a deep breath and dived under the surface, ears pinned back against her head. Her tail swished lightly a moment as she used it as a rudder, all four paws stroking through the water as she cut through the water to glide up to the fish... The poor things were rather curious in their cautious, darting way, and they presented a bit of a challenge like this...

Teles soon found out that it was a bit easier than trying to scoop them up from above the water, though, as she didn't have to deal with the water's refraction. Within a few moments, she'd snagged a mid-sized fish in her jaws and paddled up to the surface to take in several breaths of air as she swam towards the shore and her friend, lips pulled back in a grin.

She tossed the fish upon the bank where it flopped weakly. Her teeth had done it quite a bit of damage, and the exertion and lack of oxygenated water would do the rest.

"Supper's up~" She intoned gleefully before flicking her tail at Tael's face, diving back into the water with a lout whoop and a cheeky grin to retrieve her own fish, emerging from the water a while later, her own fish caught in her jaws.

"Squeaky clean with a good fish meal... Not bad." She spoke around the fish before dropping it and shaking water everywhere. "Huh, Tael?"

Taelence watched in amazement as Teles caught their dinner. She climbed out of the pool and shook herself dry. She puffballed for a second before the fur settled down and then she started rummaging in the bushes looking for flint rock. No way was she eating that fish raw.

"That's amazing, the way you just caught those two fish," she said as she hunted. "I think I'm too much of a city bred fox to be able to do that."

She struck different rocks together until she found the right pair she was looking for. There were some dried pine needles under the trees so tinder wasn't an issue. All they needed was wood.

Tael started picking up good sized sticks.

"We're not eating that fish raw," she said in explanation, looking at Teles's expression. "I do not fancy Sushi. Blech!"

Teles had her head tilted as she watched Tael wander around the edge of the clearing, striking rocks against one another and eventually gathering some small and medium sized sticks. It was then that she grinned lightly, but Tael's little "explanation" caused her grin to expand quickly...into a rather wicked expression.

Leaning down, she tore a strip off the fish with her teeth, using her paws to hold the dead aquatic creature down before she trotted up to her friend and munched on teh raw piece of fish, swallowing it before grinning openly at her friend, promptly falling into a peal of laughter.

"Oh, Tael! Raw fish isn't all that bad~!"

Her expression was priceless.

Still, mission accomplished, she helped her friend gather some more wood for the fire. Raw fish was good and had its own unique flavour, but there was definitely something to be said about fish that was cooked; whether it was cooked in butter and herbs, spiced, or just plain fire-roasted. It was definitely all good.

She managed to scratch some bark off a dead tree and carried it back, tearing it into smallter pieces with fine frayed edges. Bark was most definitely excellent tinder. They arranged the pieces and set more wood to the side, but Teles left it up to Tael to light the fire.

Taelence watched in utter horror as Teles chewed and swallowed the strip of raw fish. She pinched in her face, stuck out her tongue and made an 'ugh' sound as a shiver ran down her entire body.

"Yuck!" she said, throughly grossed out. "Gross Teles!"

Tael knew Teles had done it to her on purpose, just to creep her out, but it had worked and she tried very hard not to puke her breakfast up. So she and the charcoal vixen arranged the wood and tinder she needed in a pile and then Tael rubbed the two rocks she'd picked up together, making sparks. She blew on the smoldering timber to help it light and the fire started and climbed among the wood, burning brightly. She speared the fish on thin sticks and set them straight up into the dirt to slow cook. Tael sighed and lay down, trying to dry her fur out.

"I understand now why some foxes choose to live out her. It's quite peaceful," She smiled up at Teles.

Teles found herself helping after the fire was blazing cheerily, and she smiled at their handiwork with the fish roasting away by the fireside.

"Mhm, it's very calm and peaceful...and not without its own dangers, of course."

Teles mussed her tail around, licking it back into place afterwards. Her thicker fur she left mussed and sat close to the fire until it started to dry out a bit, and carefully licked it back into place. She wasn't vain by any means, but every fur had its place, and a place, its fur. It took a while to become less damp than she had been from her swim, but the fire was warm, and she could easily pass the time like this if she wanted.

"Too bad it's nowhere near being dark out, yet. The fire would be really nice then."

Taelence moved and curled up to Teles. She nodded at her statement about danger.

"Still there's not much here that would really be a threat, not in the day anyways," She turned over and let the fire warm her belly. "Lack of darkness doesn't stop me from being sleepy however." She sighed and closed her eyes. Today had been a very long and exhausting day.

The reward though, was enough to make her want to do the whole thing over again. Teles wasn't going to leave her, and things were ok between each other.

Though if the whole crying thing was to happen again, she thought. Maybe I'd just rather skip over that and get straight to the good part. If only life had a fast forward button!

She sighed again and shifted, trying to get comfortable.

Teles grinned faintly at Tael as she spoke before standing and giving her whole body a really good, long stretch.

"Ooooh, aaaah~" She sighed, settling down again before laying with Tael, absentmindedly nuzzling at her ears a moment, flicking her tail slowly from side to side, sapphire eyes resting upon the fish as they cooked.

Soon enough she flopped her tail upon Tael with a small snicker. "Feel free to sleep a little. I'll watch the fish and make sure they don't swim away."

Her tone was teasing, but she really meant she'd be watching to make sure they didn't burn. If Tael wanted to try and catch a few minutes of a nap, it was fine with her. It would, after all, give Tael's news time to sink in so she could reflect upon it.

Taelence blew at Teles's tail, which just happened to be in her face. But for the most part she ignored it and started to doze.

"Nudge me when the fish is done," she murmured sleepily.

But of course, just because your body rests, doesn't mean you mind does to. So while half of Tael's mind was sleeping, the other half was plotting.

He should be at Crimson's by now, she thought, flicking an ear. Problem is I don't know whether to let Teles meet him before or after she goes away. Why does this relationship stuff have to be so hard! Maybe if I was smart enough, I'd have just left it all alone. Well no use crying over spilt milk, I guess. And with that she let the rest of her mind sleep.

Teles kept her eyes upon the fire: watching its hypnotizing movements and warm glow put her at ease. Curiously enough, her mind was blank, forfeit of the thoughts that should have already been plaguing her. Her eyes swerved up to the sky, wishing that it was already dark so she could see the stars sparkling.

After a while, Teles slowly shifted and got up to shift the spitted fish so they could cook on the other side as well. She took a deep breath and smiled at the smell. Good, fresh fish. It was always mouth-watering to the female fox.

When the aroma reached its peak, Teles stood once again to wander over to Taelence and nudge her awake.

"Fish is done~" She said, her voice rather jovial and sing-song like. After waking her friend she hopped over to the sticks and carefully removed them from the ground, giving Tael her fish and keeping the one she'd already taken a chunk out of.

Taelence looked up, blearily and stood. She stretched and padded over to Teles, taking the fish offered to her. She blew on it to cool it and took a bite. It wasn't half bad, considering the circumstances. Tael sat down next to Teles and mused as she ate.

On the good:

She'd told Teles the truth.

Teles didn't hate her.

And Teles most certainly wasn't leaving her forever.

But on the bad:

Teles's heart was broken.

Tael still felt like a royal tool.

And even if Teles wasn't leaving forever, she was still leaving for a couple of days. And no matter what, that still made Tael sad.

What the future held for them both, Taelence didn't know. But what wouldn't kill them, would make them stronger. And for the bond that Tael and Teles shared, even if it wasn't one of Soul-Mates, it was still tighter than most. So, in the end, time was the answer. And no matter how much Tael wanted things fixed right then, she knew that in the absence of an automatic solution time would heal and strengthen them both. So long as they had the courage to face it together.

She smiled at Teles.

I'll find away to make this up to you Teles. I'll always be there for you.

And I'll always love you.
