Idhril nodded at Joruri's question, though she kept her focus on cleaning her injuries.
"Saliva has healing properties and speeds up the healing process," she explained softly. "That's one of the reasons why animals lick their wounds, because it's a natural healer."
She was so focused on her injuries that she didn't notice as he hugged his legs to his body, an action that would normally set of warning bells in her head - but as it was, she stopped short when she heard his reply to her question.
She looked slowly at him, her face frozen with shock. "You ... I ... what?" She felt lost, confused. Did she really have that much power over his very existence? But his last comment made her want to cry again. Could she really kill him? Of course she would never do such a thing, but did her think that she would? She didn't know what horrified her more, the fact that she could, or the fact that he feared that she would.
"I would never take your life away!" she exclaimed, putting her hands on his shoulders, completely forgetting that she would be staining them with her blood. "That's ... that's a horrible thought!"
But then her mind worked even further, and her dark skin paled. "Does that mean ... that someone ... that someone else killed you?" She threw her arms around him and held him close, putting her head on his shoulder. "That's so awful!" she cried. "Who could do such a thing?"

Joruri watched her and nods listening to her explanation it made sense...though he did not know what animal ment...well wait...animal was not human...what has human?
He looked at her shocked face. "Mistress can kill Joruri....if don't want him...leave and throw into tree...toss into river..." He looked to her hands on his shoulder he could feel the warmth of the blood moving over his pale skin, dying it red. He grew worried and then her arms embrassed her and her cheek took the spot of his bloody hand. He shifted to wrap his arms around her and rested his head on hers.
"Joruri could not speak....move...cry. Could feel....though dead....Mistress Idhril saved....gave life...." He shivered in her arms and wrapped his wings around her as well to shield her from evils of the world.

Idhril cuddled against Joruri's chest, her fists closing on the fabric of his shirt.
"I'll never throw you in a tree, or in the river, or ... or ... or anywhere!" she said vehemently. "I could never do such a thing! I want you ... I want you to live! I want you to be alive!"
She felt him shiver and pressed himself closer to him to help him warm up. It was cooling down in the cave, the storm was chasing away the heat of the day, and she couldn't stand him to be cold, not after what she had just heard. How people could exist who could be so uncaring, so hateful, was beyond her comprehension. How could they be like that?
"When we're sitting like this," she told him softly, her head resting on his chest, "you make me feel safe from everything that ever threatened me ... I want to do the same for you, make you feel safe, and warm, and loved ... I want to be here for you for everything that you go through ... I want to be your shield like you are for me."

As she clenched his shirt in her fists and her words were said Joruri felt safe. Though she was still a child she saw him as alive...not as a toy. He smiled as she pressed closer to him. "Mistress so warm....kind...Joruri feels...safe."
He smiled and pulled her closer hoping he was not hurting her. He blushed as she rested her small head on his chest. He would protect her with his life...He would be there for her.
"Joruri wont...do something...without Mistress Idhril. Mistress first for all." he lowered his head to rest on his head on hers he did not breath like normal, if he did it only seemed to happen when he talked. He blushed, "Joruri likes Mistress....please stay."

Idhril smiled, relaxing into Joruri's arms. She was glad that she made him feel safe, just the way he did for her. She was glad that she could help him, and she wanted to do everything for him that she could.
"And I like you too, Joruri," she replied softly. "I would like to stay here with you ... but I have to go home sometimes ... I can't always stay ... I have to go to school, to learn ... and Mama will be worried about me if I don't go back ... but I will come here every time I can, every chance I get, and I will take very good care of you, I promise I will!"
She looked down at her tattered dress. "Besides, I have to get more clothes ... and Mama will want to look at my injuries and heal them all up properly ... but maybe she can come and look at you, too! Maybe she can heal you all up properly, too!"
Her golden eyes glowed with excitement as she looked up at him.

He felt her move a bit and he let her go. "Mistress will leave Joruri." He looked at her suddenly very worried. She was going to leave him soon. "W...will mistress suspend...um kill Joruri....while gone." he looked from her to his vase and back.
"Joruri vase go?" He wanted her to at least take his vase with her. He looked worried and looked at the ground. "Joruri thrown out....mistress idhril's home."
He shivered and looked down. He was not good for her and she had woken him, why was he going to be left alone and alive. If he was left with just his vase he would end up dead again. He could not be trusted with it.
He was so confused he just had to calm down. She said she would come back. But should stay in the cave....would she show him a new place to stay. He had to calm down she would return to him. But his arms pulled back around her and held her close. "Kill Joruri when leave?"

Idhril was confused when Joruri let her go - had she said something wrong? - but when she heard his words, her heart just about stopped in her chest, and her eyes filled with guilty tears.
"No!" she cried, throwing her arms around him again. "No, not like that, Joruri! I'm not going to leave you like that! I would never kill you, never ever ever!"
She hugged him as tightly as she could - not very strong, considering that she was still a child, but her strong emotions made her stronger.
"You'll never be thrown out, Joruri, you'll stay with me for as long as both of us live! And you'll be alive and I'll be with you! I promise I won't leave you! I promise it!"
She was being childish and she knew it, but she couldn't help it. She had made Joruri feel unwanted again, just like his old master, she had said horrible things and made him feel the worst he could possibly feel! How could she have done that? It was a terrible thing for her to do!
No, her only choice would be to do what Celebor did - stay here until someone came looking for her, someone who could tell her mother what had happened, and where she was, and bring her new clothes, and food ... she didn't know how to find food here. Maybe ... maybe ... well ... she would figure something out!
"I won't leave!" she told Joruri then, looking up at him, her golden eyes filled with promise. "I will stay here with your forever and ever and I'll help you and I'll teach you and ... and ... and I'll take care of you and everything!"
She knew she would be happy, she was always happy when she was taking care of someone who was dear to her. She knew her mother would feed Xue and take good care of her, so that didn't weigh on her mind either. No, her conscience was clear as she clung to Joruri - except for one thing. She felt awful for making him ask such a question as, was she going to kill him when she left him. That had been truly horrible of her!

Joruri winced at the sorrow and tears he made his young master feel. He held her close his longer arms folding around her, his legs pulling up to cradle her in his lap. His cheeks were bright with blush at the warm look in her eyes. Had his focus not been so much on her he might have been shocked and amused at the color that came to his pale cheeks.
But he knew he could not ask such a thing from his master...she said she would come back, and she had obligations, she could not stay with him. Even though it filled him with joy and a safe warm feeling to think of her staying with him that long.
"Joruri...can't ask...Mistress Idhril to stay....Mistress has family.....and friends....S..She should go back to them." It hurt him so much to say those things but he could not do what would be bad for his young master. "Joruri wait for her...re....to come back."
He would wait alive or dead which ever she picked...he could not expect a princess to give up everything for him. He was after all just a used piece of junk she found. He could hear the roar of the storm still loud and demanding as if wanting to still torment him though he was safe inside.
"Joruri wait...forever and ever....if need be....but Joruri wait for Mistress Idhril to come....teach...protect...help." He didn't want to hurt her any more...to be the reason she was sad. He would not steal her from her life....he should not be selfish like that. Not to one so brave and caring as her.

Idhril hugged Joruri tightly. He was being so brave and self-sacrificing for her! How could she do anything less? She wanted to help him in every way she could.
She knew that she would have to go home eventually, for clothes, for care, for school ... but for now at least she would stay with him, at the very least for the duration of the storm that was still building in fury. But she didn't feel the fear that she usually felt in a storm: no, with Joruri's arms around her, she felt safe.
"Joruri," she said softly, her head comfortably against his chest, "if I do have to go somewhere ... how can I keep you alive? How can I help you when I'm gone? I don't want you to die ... or anything ... I want you to be alive ... so that I can be with you and you can be with me ..."
She looked up at him, her expression serious as it rarely was. She wanted this with her whole heart, wanted to do what was best for him, to make him as happy as she possibly could ...

Joruri felt very happy with his young princess in his arms. He was so glad that he had found...well that he had been found by someone so brave, true, and innocent. He could feel a very faint dark pull on the back of his tattered mind but he shook it off and continued to hold her threw the storm.
Once her questions fill his mind he turned to look at his vase standing broken. "Mistress Idhril can...take Joruri vase?" He would have loved to just be the one to go with her. He wanted to stay by her side and protect her but he could not impose and many might not like what he was.
He looked into her golden orbs and felt himself getting lost in the firm supported pools. And the dark pulled on his mind. He tilted his head slightly and leaned forward to kiss her forehead. "Joruri alive...as long as Mistress...wants and needs Joruri alive."

Idhril's gaze followed Joruri's and she nodded, looking at the beautiful but damaged vase. Yes, she would take it with her everywhere she went ... and she would take care of it ... and she would show it every bit of love that she showed Joruri.
She nodded again, stronger then, and looked up at Joruri. "I promise I'll take it everywhere," she swore, "and I'll take care of it and I won't let anything happen to it ever again!"
She wanted to take him with her too, but she was afraid that he wasn't strong enough, that something might happen to him, something that she couldn't prevent, because he was too big for her to carry. His vase was the perfect size though, and she was certain that she would be able to take it with her everywhere without any troubles at all.
She smiled happily when he kissed her forehead, a reminder of the affection that she received from her mother each night before she went to bed, and she hugged him tightly once more.
"I do want you to live," she told him honestly. "I need you to live ... because if you didn't then I would be very, very sad ... and lonely ... so you stay alive for me, okay?"
She smiled at him. "And I won't be going anywhere for a while. As long as the storm keeps up, I can't anyways ... and then I really should stay until it gets warm, and if it's night I have to stay til morning, and then it depends on the weather and stuff again too ..."
Yes, she would stay for as long as she could.

Joruri smiled, "Then Joruri will be with Mistress Idhril always." he was so glad to be with someone who cared about him. It was because of her he was actually starting to feel.
He would wanted to go with her every where he wanted to be by her side...but she probley would not want him tagging along every where. He was loving her soft sweet words.
Blushing over took him though with her words. He moved to lay his forehead against her and to look into the golden orbs. "Joruri lives only for Idhril. " He said his voice was the deep rich tones, slightly accented though with one that could not really be traced.
He turned to look out the entrance and then back at her. "Mistress still want to check Joruri?" He asked loosening his arms around her so she could move around his lap.

Idhril blinked at the reminder. She couldn't believe it - she had forgotten! She had been so worried about making Joruri feel better that she had completely forgotten that she wanted to check over him and make sure that he wasn't injured!
To be fair, she had also forgotten her own wounds again, though the pain from them had gone down to become nothing more than a dull throb.
"Yes," she said softly, climbing out of his lap again, feeling rather foolish. What if he had been injured and she had been sitting on his injury and made it worse? She would never forgive herself if that were the case. "Yes, I do want to check you," she continued softly, kneeling beside him and looking up at him worriedly. "I want to make sure you're not too hurt, and see if I can make you better, okay? So ... so you lay down, and I'll just check you over, okay?"
And she smiled at him warmly, her golden eyes promising that she would heal his wounds, physical and emotional, as well as she was able, and that she would do nothing to hurt him.

Joruri felt a deep flush filling his pale death cheeks. His bright eyes showing nothing but trust in her. "Joruri does not feel...hurt...or..i..injured. Joruri knows Mistress Idhril fix him... Mistress brought Joruri life."
He moved to lay down his hand moving up above his head straight and wrapping around the strings like a prisoner in shackles. "Clothes on?" He looked up at her still with complete and utter trust.
"Mistress Idhril is fixed yes?" he asked. Because his arms were lifted she could see the snaps along the side of his shirt that would allow it to be undone and lifted off his body and strings.
"Mistress fix Joruri and Joruri can protect and serve her."

Idhril flushed with pleasure and embarrassment at Joruri's words, but she smiled warmly at him.
"Maybe it's better if I take your clothes off," she murmured, completely innocently, "so that I can see better if you're hurt or not ... don't worry about me, I can worry about me later. I want to make sure you're all right first ..."
As she moved to begin unclasping the snaps along the side of his shirt, she smiled at him again. "And once I'm sure you're all right, you can be my protector," she agreed, though she said nothing about serving. She didn't want him to be a servant, she wanted him to be her friend - and she would make sure he knew that sooner or later.
