Another cold shoulder. David frowned at Anita's lack of playfulness for a moment, but quickly got over it. She was just another four on the ten scale anyways, so pushing his luck may result him in some uncomfortable or even ugly predicaments. So, finally choosing to drop the flirtatious antics, David finished typing Anita's contact information into his cell, making an extra symbol besides her name that would indicate to him ,when he later referenced back to it, that she was out of his league, and then slid it back into his pocket. That's when he realized that he hadn't stated his information and so, monotonously recited it for the others, the excitement dying in his voice,
"House number is 1-850-xxx-xxxx and my cell is the same area code, but ily-wxyz.--"
A soft humming filled the chamber as David looked down at his vibrating thigh. Then a ringtone quickly followed, the phone seemingly dancing to the intoxicating techno beat. The man frowned once again, before pulling the cell out of his pocket once more: Namini. How..predictable.
"Hello? Yes. I'm still in the elevator," there was a heavy pause as David lost all irritability in his voice and replaced the tone with curiosity. "Hmmm. Fine. I'll take that but can you make mine cooler than usual? It's really hot in here so. -- Fine, I'll pick up the syrups on my way home. Just. Call someone to help us. Me, a girl named Anita, and your friend..Josh."
David felt his sister's voice grow excited once again. Sighing, he really wished he was the meaner type of brother. The type that was capable of hanging up.

Josh punched in David’s numbers not missing a beat. The keypad let out a crisp sonata of various rings and clicks. He was like your average social teen, keen on all things involved in texting and well on his way to a future filled with carpel tunnel. Josh tapped the enter button saving all of his new contacts. His cell phone let out a dinky little tune that rung sweetly and jovially then hung in the air around them as if applauding the fact he had made new friends.
Josh tucked away his phone, but not before he checked the time. The digital display flashed at him and he began to calculate just how long they had been in the confines of the elevator. The boy was starting to feel worried, they were just hitting a little over one hour. They had been stuck in the behemoth of a machine for more then ONE HOUR without any sign of help. Josh’s gut began wrenching with anxiety again.
Even the tinkling voice of Namini on the other side of David’s cell phone did nothing to calm Josh. He just hoped that what they were discussing was something about how to get them rescued and not about getting a frozen dairy treat on the way home.

As her eyes had managed to adjust very slightly long ago, she noticed that Josh's movement after putting his cell phone away was little more then antsy. Twitchy, really. She tuned the seemingly trivial conversation David was having with his sister--another assumption, but this one grounded in the fact that he had mentioned Josh as the other's friend--and thought a moment, briefly, before tugging out her cell once again.
Redial. Oh yes. She was going to call that friend of hers again. If he didn't pick up, he was going to be incredibly sore and Shadow of the Colossus-less once they were safe and out of there.
Ring. Ring.. Ring...
Ani slouched back against the wall almost entirely, her head the only thing propped up anymore as she stared blankly at the opposite wall, jaw jutted out slightly as she listened to the answering machine. Hopefully, whatever he was doing, it wasn't too loud.
"Teeeed~" she cooed, covering her annoyance, "If you don't want me to kick your a**, I'd suggest going to the front desk and telling them one of the elevator's is stuck~" her voice carried a tune, and it was held in the most nonchalant tune that could have belied their situation. It seemed, though, that this had jogged a response, and there was a rough click, shuffle, and a voice on the other end.
"Ani?"
She shifted immediately back to a sit, legs getting sprawled out in the fast motion--she didn't care.
"Yes, Ani. I'm stuck in an elevator. I called you earlier, jackass. ...No, there's two others with me. Guys. ...No, they don't live here. Uh-huh. ...Yeh, I know. Yeh, it's like the power's blown just in this one shaft. ...Mm-hm. ...Oh! The- really? Oh.. hold on," frowning, she pulled her cell away from her mouth, resting the receiver against her shoulder, "Apparently the power got blown in the whole building... they're not sure what the problem is." She kept her voice a little low, mostly addressing Josh for now so as not to interrupt the oh-so important exchange between brother and sister over delicious syrups and whatever else.

David furrowed his brows disappointingly at Ani's hushed announcement, ignoring the fact that he had eavesdropped in search of new information. His mind had already began to calculate how much longer he would be stuck here with these people and the outcome greatly annoyed him. Momentarily tuning out his sister's ramblings but still politely covering the mouthpiece, he turned to his companions and decided to include his thoughts on their predicament, whether they wanted to hear it or not,
"If it's really a power blowout that coursed throughout the entire building then..We've got a least two more hours in here before the staff or anyone else can do something about it. Best get comfy."
He then returned to his empty chat with Namini, continuing on about salads, shaved ice, and the sudden fact that Namini had forgotten to call David's comrade ,Henry, the hour or so back when her brother first told her to. But even at this irritating tidbit, the man's voice seemed to greatly lack any excitement or quick temper that had been openly expressed beforehand. It seemed he found it too tiring now to feel anything but, well, tired.

Josh watched with large, curious as Ani and David chatted endlessly on their cells. Unfortunately, Josh did not have that comfort. He had no one to call, no one to confide in. All he could do was sit back, relax, and twiddle his thumbs until they were rescued. The boy was grateful to see that Ani was sparing her time to clear up the situation with him. It definitely put his restless mind at ease. At any rate, they had some idea of what was going on outside and when they may be freed from their metal enclosure.
“Already ahead of you,” Josh purred at David as he laid back against the bristly carpeting in the elevator. If it was going to be at least two more hours then Josh saw no harm in loafing around a bit.

Her conversation wasn't quite as endless as David's one with Namini; she usually felt rude being on the phone when other people were around, and that compulsion kicked in fairly quickly as she noticed Josh scuttle down onto the floor of the elevator. She hurried their speech along as he explained to her what he was going to try and do and that he would call her back if there were any updates, and she put her cell in her pocket this time, instead of her bag.
Giving a short glance to David, Ani stood, straightening her shirt and pulling up her jeans a bit for good measure (they had a habit of falling as she wasn't one for belts), and meandered beside Josh. Better to entertain the one that would be bored out of his mind then let him go crazy, right? As she sat next to him, though, her mind sort of went blank on any conversational material outside of the already established common interest. Now, of course she loved games, but it probably wasn't best to talk strictly about them, especially in the current situation.
"So, uh... where abouts do you live?" good point of reference, at any rate. If he wasn't in Durem, then things would be a bit complicated. She couldn't rightly recall if this had already been said, however, as she had asked if they lived in the building solely out of breaking any awkward silence between them. And, once David closed his phone, she would be sure to include him in any conversation, as well.

Ironically, listening to his sister's voice weave in and out of excitement as she described pointless stories involving the groceries and mean cashiers, and the random, pointless shows on television, David found himself even more tired. She was just so animated, without a care in the world! Perhaps it was jealousy speaking but the cheerful ringing left in David's ears was so sickeningly sweet and carefree, he was absolutely certain it could kill a man. Releasing a heavy but muffled sigh, he was just about to mutter another "uh huh, interesting." when something rattled above him. Or was it around him? Frowning though, he fixed his gaze upwards as the noise grew in intensity.
"What the hell is that?.." he murmured, careful to make sure his easily worrisome sister couldn't hear him. She continued with her story as David shifted his weight and then stood up, replying now and then with a mere "hm." as he narrowed his stormy eyes curiously at a disturbingly noisy, darkened corner of the chamber's ceiling. He held his cell phone between his ear and shoulder for a moment as he reached a lanky arm upwards, feeling around (and also feeling somewhat silly in this type of act) until he felt a disgusting wave of heat engulf his hand. Drawing his arm back, he returned to his conversation with Namini, putting a sudden end to it.
"Nami, do me a favor would you? Make sure to be here when we get rescued, and also make sure to have an extra set of clothes for me. Thanks, bye."
After closing his phone and returning it to his pocket, he turned towards the closely seated duo, taking note of but uncaring for Anita's new position and coughed shakily, "Excuse me for what I'm about to do but.. The temperature has greatly surpassed my zone of tolerance and it seems, with this busted heater, it will only continue to do so, much to my irritation. So, if skin bothers either of you, I guess all I can say is ..suck it up."
This last suggestion seemed to possess every ounce of anger David built up and stored away, and immediately after this announcement, the young man proceeded hastily in removing his shirt and tie. Smirking, he also proceeded in taking a shot at Josh, who, God knows, the man had been waiting for for the entire episode, "By the way Josh, if you're trying to be a true ladies man, you'll have to pick up some experience...and some weights."
David never seemed to lose his haughtiness, let alone forget his own good looks.

Josh peeked up from half lidded eyes as Ani stooped down next to him. Her figure was a hazy blur, but he managed to make enough room for the girl to sit down. From her advancing form, he could make out the subtle outline of her body and a few graceful contours of her face. Nonetheless, Josh also felt a wave of nausea. It was becoming stifling in their steel prison. Josh found his companions’ proximity growing more uncomfortable by the second. If he flicked an arm to far he would caressing Ani’s thigh . Similarly, if he stretched a leg too far he would be stroking David’s arm. Both options sent disgusted shivers down his spine… more so the latter. Josh shifted and rolled to his previous position and was relived to find more breathing room. The boy took in a deep gulp of air and replied to Ani. His tone was edged with the dullness of boredom, “I live in Aekea. I guess you could say I was raised around machines and such.”
To be honest, the boy hated to admit that he didn’t know the difference between a carburetor and a cucumber. He wasn’t too fond of listening to his father when the technology savvy man went on a rant about the keen delicacies of an engine. How a fine car should be treated like a high-class woman and all that drivel.
Josh peered at David as the refined man reached out a tentative hand to the sky then proceeded to cut his conversation short. Well, that wasn’t very debonair. Josh instantly picked up on the agitation dripping from his voice. The smaller boy could also pick up on the rapidly increasing temperature in the elevator. Just what had David felt? Josh heard a muted humming coming from the ceiling above. He also felt the waves of stifling air leaking from the darkness above his head. The heater…
Josh returned a uncertain gaze to David. What was he going on about now? Josh filtered out the most pertinent words in the pompous nonsense spewing from his distinguished lips. Apparently… his was giving his minute audience a peep show. Josh could care less about how the older man flexed his pectorals or deltoids. What did bother Josh though was how the man finally came out with a snappy comment about the young boy’s feminine appearance. He couldn’t help it that he took after his mother. Instead of gaining the bulging musculature of his father, he was forced to suffice with a structure built for a transvestite. Josh puffed up indignantly and retorted haughtily at David, “Well, I’m sorry not everyone is built like a barbarian.” His tone was less angry and more mocking. He had experienced enough comments about his physique to learn that it was pointless to become flustered when someone labeled him as ‘girly’.
Josh continued turning to the girl next to him for emphasis, “I’m sure Ani would agree that some women prefer more…” He chose his words warily, “Compact men.” Josh slipped off his shirt and neatly folded it. He set it on the steadily growing pile of accumulated clothing and luggage. It was becoming to hot for the oppressive article of clothing and… Perhaps a visual was in order?

When the younger of the two men replied, she felt a small smile tug on her lips. In Aekea, all of her friends had moved away, graduated, all of that stuff, so whenever she was back in her mother's house, she was usually stuck there with no company. Ever. Knowing that this new acquaintance was living in the same vicinity as her, though, brought Anita great hope. Perhaps their game days would be more frequent then she originally assumed.
She kept her voice slightly hushed, so as not to overshadow David's phone conversation, "Oh! That works out pretty well! I'm gonna be going back to Aekea a lot next week. I'm still moving to Durem, and then I'll still go back and forth for a while anyway. My mom's in Aekea." Yes, yes, and her father was in Barton, but that wasn't a particularly important tidbit of info with how rarely she felt compelled to visit that section of Gaia.
As David raised his hand up, Ani watched curiously until she, too, felt the dense heat rise to a blistering level. For a moment, she wasn't quite sure what he was getting at--one of her stupider moments. Soon after he uttered the words 'suck it up' and began moving, she turned back to Josh. That didn't last for much longer, either, as he soon lost his shirt, and she began looking at the doors instead. She made no reply to Josh or David's comments, even when the prior had been looking straight at her. Sure enough, she agreed for the most part, but if she answered in the affirmative that would be rude to one of three members in their party, and that was bad.
Heat never sat well with her. She already felt herself getting more and more nauseas as she tried to fight it off so she wouldn't have to deal with the embarrassment of undressing herself in the presence of two strange men.
Strange...
Attractive...
Men...
She wanted to slap herself, and the minutes were dragging on like hours. In the time that the two had undressed enough to be more comfortable, she had crawled herself into the corner, hoping the cool metal against her back would be enough, but it was proving futile. In response, she adjusted her braids with some hairpins in her pockets so that they wouldn't be touching her neck or back, and that helped a little. For a few minutes. Sweat. She was sweating, now, and it was making her so very uncomfortable.
Why?
Why now?
Why Summer?
A small whimper sounded from her corner as she began to follow the two men's example, starting with her tank top.

Momentarily taken aback by Josh's comment, all David managed to reply with was a chuckle. A barbarian versus a compact man, huh? Interesting concept, and David decided to remember this little statement for perhaps, future reference. What really threw the usually reserved man off guard was the shuffling he heard after Josh's joke, or at least what David saw as a joke. The shuffling of clothes. Turning his attention to their corner of the chamber, David adjusted his eyes a bit more and frowned at the revealing of Josh's bare torso. What a girl, David thought rudely, but with the heat, found it less tiring to just keep his thoughts to himself. It was definitely, one hundred percent too hot to start another quarrel.
Letting out a weary sigh, he also rolled up his slacks and slid even further onto the cool floor and the soothing metal wall behind him.
Shuffle, shuffle.
He looked over at Josh and Anita once more, expecting the soft rustles to be from the stupid teenage boy attempting to remove his pants but instead he felt his face grow hot as he noted the embarrassed squeal Anita emitted. Oh god. In his own attempt to hide his unexpected embarrassment, David quickly found interest in his cell phone. Staring at the screen, pretending to text someone, he did anything he could possibly think of to avert his gaze over the younger female. Soon though, it was obvious that he hadn't been texting anyone. It was obvious that David was just sitting there, red in the face, staring at his screen, watching the seconds go by.
He shut his phone after a few tense moments, a frown etched into his features as he contemplated a possible solution to this predicament. ...There was that topic, but it'd make him look like an a** or some kind of pimp. ...But hell, he needed to keep himself distracted.
"So. Do any of you have any single friends? Y'see, I'm getting bored with the girl I'm with, so it's time for me to move on. So, know of anyone?"

Josh nodded at Ani’s words. He chose not to inquire as to why she was moving. The boy hated asking about overly personal matters. However he did offer his two cents, “If you ever need any help moving. I’ll be happy to assist.” The boy’s head shot to the side as he spared David a glance.
Josh heard the faint shifting of limbs alongside the gentle shuffle of clothing. Apparently David was one the move, or at least trying to find amore comfortable position in their searing prison. As well, Josh couldn’t help but shift uncomfortably under the scrutiny of the older man’s gaze. He could feel David’s eyes perusing his body; piercing into his flesh like to metallic gray daggers. Josh gritted his teeth in contempt. ‘Why are you checking me out, weirdo…’ Josh had enough experience with grown men wanting a little extra ‘something’ from him, or friends turning on him at the last minute to reveal less than saintly intentions. The last thing he wanted was another middle-aged stalker of some sort. The boy briefly felt like smacking the weary smile off of David’s pretentious face, but it was getting too hot to do anything besides breath. Even then, Josh had to take ragged puffs of air. Would it be possible to run out of oxygen in such a confined space? The boy decided not to dwell on the question.
Instead, Josh’s attention was seized by a very interesting turn of events. Ani modestly threw her top to the side like the rest of the group. If seemed as if Josh’s blush was in cue with the wayward article of clothing she threw to the ground. As it descended onto the floor the boy’s blush grew in intensity. By the time the shirt was sprawled lifelessly on the cheap carpeting, Josh’s face seemed to radiate heat and mortification. It wasn’t a very comfortable feeling giving the fact that the temperature in the elevator already felt like a mini-inferno.
Josh barely made any sign or indication that he heard David. To be honest, the boy wasn’t surprised to hear such shallow words escape his lips. What did shock Josh was how a arrogant player like David could have blood relations with an overly sensitive girl like Namini. It was a complete mystery…

That was a nice sentiment, one she appreciated greatly. Moving boxes and arranging furniture certainly wasn't her idea of a good time, but having at least one positive addition to it could make it all the better. She would have to take him up on that offer, she supposed, but with him living in Aekea she felt like she might be imposing...
As soon as the shirt was off, she instinctively pulled her legs up to her chest and hugged them close so that all was visible of her bare skin was her back, a black strip running across it just beneath her shoulder blades. It seemed like an excellent way to hide at first, until she felt the temperature rising even faster then it had been before, and she slowly, reluctantly, uncurled her legs to lay flat in front of her, propping herself up with her hands. Ani huffed. This situation was so far from ideal that it would be a very funny story down the road. Far down the road.
Her attention perked at David's question after quite a bit of silence between them, and her brow furrowed in such a way that her expression simply seethed the question 'what the hell?'. Wow. Was he a pimp? He certainly seemed like it, with that attitude.
Sure she had single friends. Most of her friends were male, however, and the only close friend of hers that she knew for certain was single and a female she wasn't about to subject that sort of attitude. Not that David would probably appreciate Tony anyway, what with her being cooped up at all hours of the day typing away and being a workaholic. "Sure. I've got single friends. If you're swinging both ways." Ah, honesty.

Listening to Anita's response, David let out a restrained but upbeat laugh as he imagined himself with adorned with some shojo-type guy, blonde hair, blue eyes, incredibly delicate looking with a blush constantly on his face hanging from his arm. Wow. He had to stop reading his sister's manga. Allowing the remains of his imagination to quickly disperse, he continued the conversation, though because of Josh's lack of input and wariness, his attention was focused on Anita now and her humor..or at least what David found charming way of speaking. He also decided to help the group move their attention from the heat and began to play up this player-persona he suspected them of thinking of him as.
"As long as they're loaded and willing to meet up with me, guy or girl, anyone's fine. I'm usually free every evening, though this week I can't pencil anyone in. Today was probably the only afternoon appearance I would make, though I'm not really disappointed that I had to cancel. Oh well, I'll make it up to her, later."
His eyes glanced over the nervous Josh once more and then turned to Anita. Her constant repositioning was forcing the redness to remain on his cheeks, especially when she had folded her legs back out. David forced his stormy eyes to remain on her face, taking note of the paleness of her skin and the color of her hair. He was trying to force and maintain his attention on every possible aspect above Anita's collarbone.

Josh found it hard to focus on anything above the scant black bra adorning Anita’s torso. What else could he do, he was a healthy young boy after all. The boy gulped uncomfortably a chose to glare at the wall directly in front of him. His eyes seared into the mirror, burning into his own reflection. As David spoke up Josh forced his piercing eyes over on the man.
Josh seethed inside. That had to be one of the most self centered statements that had the misfortune of grazing the boy’s ears. Josh felt every right to chew the man out. To treat anyone with such little respect was… simply immoral. David deserved to reap what he sewed. The fact that he was Namini’s brother was now meaningless. Josh spoke in a quiet whisper. Alas, his words dripped malice and venom, “Tch, sorry that you have to hear this Ani.” He made no motion to look at the girl. All his energy was aimed at staring down the man across from him. Josh’s bashing began, “No one has the right to comment on a person like they’re some sort of purse. Some one you can leach money off of. Do you even have respect for anyone? Or are you some street side hussy?” Josh frowned darkly hoping his word made a deep impression on the man.

Her expression quickly faltered from one of jovial sarcasm to near devastation. Had that actually just come out of that man's mouth? Great. Now she was even less inclined to set up a game day with this man, among other notable factors. A response, however, completely eluded her. She was at a loss for words on how exactly to retort in the most effective manner, and all she could do was stare dumbly at the man across from her, mouth slightly agape.
Josh, however, seemed to have his thoughts more together then she, as his quick response surprised her. Even more so was her surprise that he apologized to her for it before hand, especially when it didn't contain a foul word in it (not that she thought anyone needed to apologize to her for that, either, as her mouth was on par with a sailor's).
David. A street side hussy. That was an amusing image, and she covered her mouth quickly, averting her gaze to Josh so she didn't keep seeing David dressed in drag standing on a street corner. Surely that wasn't what Josh had meant, but that was what came to mind.
For a moment, there was doubt, though. She turned back to look at David and, without removing her hand from her mouth asked, "Please tell me you're joking..."
