Scaramouche Fandango

Big Wife

While talking to the male taur, Twig noticed the her welcoming reception was... icy, to say the least. Either her reputation had preceded her, or else these females.. oh. Wait. She knew what was wrong. The scars. It was hard to hide your nature when your nature showed through on your coat. Still, she hadn't done a thing to any of these to demonstrate her anarchic leanings. Hmmpf. Well, she'd show these judgmental wolves a thing or two! She wanted to chase down the silver female who had silently snarled and not made eye contact and show her what her flawless body would look like with a few scars on it, but instead gritted her teeth and smiled at the one known as Raine and the friendly spotted girl. "You can tell your companions not to worry; I might be flawed but I still have my pride. I am not a beggar." Flexing slightly, she pulled a shortbow and quiver from her pack, adjusting the straps and arming herself. "I'm not a bad huntress, either." Although she looked placid enough while saying it, her hurt feelings lurked behind her eyes.

Char's eyes drifted between the new comer and Tzipora and sensed the friction.
New comers were often treated with some distrust, it was only natural. That's why he was slightly put out by there willingness to accept him so quickly.
Maybe it was the fact he used to be an alpha that gave he the confidence about him that put them at ease or the simple fact he was male in a largely female group.
Walking beside Tzipora he fell in stride but a little behind giving her the sense he knew her place.
"what Game will we be after today?" he asked trying to switch the topic to a more focused route to get them moving.

" Oh, goody, " Emi squeeled, shaking a little bit. This trip was going to be so much fun, she knew it! As soon as they got some time of their own, she would appraoch her sister and devise the perfect plan for their new 'friends'. " Raine, you really must stop worrying so much. You're hair will turn gray. " She chanced a glance at Tzipora that was meant only for a brief moment, but when she started laughing, it lasted much longer.

Tzipora's ears were laid flat back on her head as she glared forward, trying her best to put the new female in the back of her head and imagine those twins boiling in a pit of hot lava. When the day came for Alpha to be chosen for their pack, and by some chance any one of them were chosen, she would personally exile herself to save herself alot of grief.

She shifted the axes handle from her right shoulder to the left with a grunt, exhaling in order to keep from dropping it all together. When Char appeared beside of her, some part of her felt calmed. Mainly because he was being respectful and considerate. Smiling in just the faintest of ways, Tzipora answered him, looking at him from the corner of her eye. " Elk. The hunting grounds are full of various plants and a large stream that they love. We try not to go too often so that the Elk will stick around and replenish themselves. " A foreign thought made her almost ask him to join her but then her sense of duty came into place. She'd worked too hard for her rank and she wouldn't let an outsider take it away from her, no matter how appealing he was.

Char's eyes Lit up happily.
"This should be good exercise for me. I haven't hunted elk since i left my pack. "
at the mention of his pack his head drooped slightly reminding himself of what had become of them.
"You are very wise with you hunting plan as well. Elk can be skitty at times but most stick to an area if they think it fairly safe."
Looking at the others around him he was mentally trying to see who was the alpha. His first though was the male but as they were starting out he didn't really take the lead and others seemed to simply be walking along mixing with each other. This unnerved him slightly never had he been an a hunting party this large with out a leader.

Eri nodded as her twin spoke and her eyes sparkled deviously. Yet, their was a glint of some respect behind that directed at Raine, not that she'd ever admit it to the older wolf though. "And you really don't want gray hair, Raine. It tends to make you a bit of a grump..." She added with a wink and a grin towards Tzipora.

"Girls!" Raine snapped but shook her head with a small sigh. There wasn't any point, for she knew that the mischievous duo wouldn't be stopped by any speech or words. 'Seems the only time they behave is when we really need them...but even then...'

Akemi feeling a bit bored with the lead, allowed Riker to once more take full charge of leading. After all he out of all of them should have the path memorized down to each step by now. Her sharp hearing caught wind of Tzipora talking and she headed towards her friend. Keeping in step the rusty wolftaur smiled at Char before silently listening.

Just speaking of their chosen prey for this trip made her think. "Should we use the normal parties when chasing and trapping them after they've been scared? Considering the new ones and all...I'll have to ask Riker as well." It was best to ask him about such things since the white wolftaur though sometimes silly was very serious and smart about hunting. As Akemi spoke, her eyes flickered from each wolftaur her expression full of consideration.

Slowing his pawsteps, Riker sniffed at the air. Up ahead he could see the familiar foliage that marked the new area the elk lived in. "We're close!" He yelped and the wind swept the hushed voice back to the rest of the pack. 'So close...I can already see them in my mind.'

Emi roared with laughter, clutching her twin when she couldn't hold in the giggles a moment longer. Taking a deep breath, she tried to steady herself. " Now, now, Raine. Don't you listen to advice at all? "

Tzipora's eyebrows furrowed as she looked at Char. He did have that air about him that one wouldn't find on any common rogue. Yet, why would anyone voluntarily leave their own pack? The pack was a sense of safety, comfort and good fortune. Rogue life was ten-times harder than it should be and one had to always look over their shoulder just to survive. She didn't like the fact that he was on his own, not one bit.

" I would go with the same plan as usual. Add our new friends in where their needed and we'll see how it all plans out. " She nodded her head towards Riker, giving Akemi the go ahead from her to confir with the male. " All long range should stay in a group and short range stick with one another. Without it, we're doomed to failure. " It was more of a declaration than the offhand statement it came out to be. Casting a quick glance back Char's way, she wanted to wink, maybe even flirt a little bit but instead she whipped back around.

Ever so slightly, she lowered her body to the ground and didn't speak anymore. Riker new what he was doing and at this time in the game, she gave her full trust to him. It wouldn't be she that jeopardized the hunt.

Char relaxed slightly as someone started to take charge. Keeping his eyes on Tzipora he watched her movements carefully trying to to be noticed.
looking around at the others briefly his gaze drifted back to her in the end.
Out of all the others her she had an air about her that she knew what she was doing.
Hearing the hushed voice on the win Char followed Tzipora's slowly moving down moving forward slowly.

Letting her instincts take over Eri nodded once at her twin before lowering down closer to the ground and walking away silently. Then turning like a shadow she blended into the woods and prepared to stalk around the herd of elk that were further ahead. Already set up to scare the poor creatures was one of the twins’ many traps.

After Akemi joined him, Riker looked back at Tzipora and gave a quick but noticeable nod in her direction. They were going to go with the same plan as always. Keeping his pace steady and his movement silent, Riker moved over with Akemi while Raine stayed near the back center of the group with her bow and arrows at the ready.

Akemi held her hunting dagger in her mouth and her throwing knives were already clutched in her hands. Riker hadn’t brought any weapon out yet, but his muscles were tense as he moved in the lead. Up ahead the sounds of grazing elk and running water could be heard.

Tzipora twisted the old leather covering of her axe's hilt tight. It rubbed up against her calluses, causing the sweet feeling of the hunt to creep back upon her. That dangerous, wreckless youth started bubbling forth but she pushed it back down. She hadn't spent all those years with her father just to lose that training now.

She eased to the left, already spying her target. A large, sturdy stag was nibbling on a berry bush, with no briars or trees surrounding him that could possibly hinder her. Looking at Riker, she nodded towards the clearing. This was his time, not hers. They had decided a while back that Riker would be Alpha if he could prove himself and Tzipora would be his Beta. She wanted that leadership position with all of her will but as long as the twins weren't the ones taking it from her, she was fine with Riker leading her.

" Char, " She whispered, low and easy so the prey wouldn't hear. " If this goes right, congragulate Riker. He'll be the new Alpha. "

Keeping his guard up, Riker held out a hand for the group to slow. The elk were in view and the wolftaur's sharp eyes spotted the glint from the wires set up to block up possible exits. The rest was up to the twins to keep blocked.

Gritting his teeth, Riker calmed his nerves. This was something he should be used to by now, no matter what depended on his actions today. He leaned down and looked down the cliff towards the elk. Lucky for them that the lack of rain lately and time of day had brought the prey down into the valley.

It was then that the loud bang was heard. Frightened el started moving towards the hill for escape. Too bad the wolftaurs were up there. "Now!" Riker started running fast down the hill with something thin but deadly in his grip.

Akemi felt like laughing as she followed Riker's lead down the hill and into the valley. Already the elk were spotting them and wanting to escape back into the woods. ‘Too bad for them that the twins are down there waiting for them as well.’ Spotting a nice young buck, Akemi opened her fists and allowed the daggers to fly from her hands and into the side of the buck. Then a blur of white came to the poor buck and a sickening snap was heard as Riker’s iron wire quickly twisted its neck. “Ouch.” She muttered taking the knife out of her mouth and approaching the buck. Not that she needed too, since Riker had already killed it instantly. Watching him she noted how quickly he had moved on after killing this one.

Slipping in near to Tzipora, but close enough to help if need be, Char nodded as to not make a sound.
Drawing his twin daggers from the holders he crept low to the floor ears tilted forward listening for a sign.
Eyeing the small group he noticed a little group of mothers and young.
The leader of this seemed to be an older doe but she had not calf with her.
Ten a shout. It was time
Darting forward his eyes locked on an older Doe It would be a little harder but leaving a young one with out a parent would risk food stocks later.
Leaping over the few bits of vegetation he lept for the doe.
But the doe had other plans and skitted to the right at the last second.
This did little to faze char as his front legs hit the tree behind her pushing himself back like a spring. This time he hit his mark.
Straddling the does back his daggers bit into flesh as she tried to buck him off but a simple shift of wait and she fell.
A quick twist of the dagger and it was all over. Glancing around he couldn't help but smile as he watched to others hunt. He felt like a pup again on his first hunt.
Glancing around he looked for Tzipora

She ran down the hill, dodging branches and briars at full speed. Her indigo eyes narrowed on her target, even as he realized that she meant to attack him. To his credit, the stag didn't run, deciding to face her head on. When Tzipora broke out onto flat land, he charged her, antlers aimed straight at her heart. She kept her axe at the ready on her shoulder until he was but a breath away from her.

The heavy weight added with her sudden straight made her aim deadly. She swerved to the right and swung, taking his head clean off his shoulders. Tzipora fell to her side and rolled over, breathing heavily while her arm muscles screamed. Splattered and slick with blood, the young female stood up and taking a deep breath, grabbed hold of her axe.

Tzipora turned her head, surveying the battleground until she found Char and she couldn't help the smile that came across her face. She'd worried that he was all talk but he could handle himself, which took a weight off her chest.

Char watched in awe as Tzipora made her kill. Watching her in motion left her speechless.
Smiling at her he tried to wipe some blood from his brow but only managed to smudge it across his face.
Looking at other making there kills he smiled.
~This feels like before. with my old pack~ he though happily.
Letting the feeling fill him he failed to notice his tail start to wag happily behind him.

Across the field, Riker's eyes connected with the fearless gaze of a young male. Feeling his blood rushing loudly in his ears, the wolftaur ran on towards the challenge. It wasn't too long before the wire had been lashed out and used to snap another neck. "Your death was needed." Whispered Riker softly as he flicked the lethal wire back around his hand.

Leaving that dead elk behind him to pick up later, Riker quickly approached Tzipora. "I think we've killed enough for the time being." He stated looking pointedly at the randomly placed carcasses. He waved at Akemi who was approaching them with bloody knives in her hands.

From the hill top, Raine looked down at the pack. During the hunt she had focused on one of the running elks. "I know that they will kill plenty without me going on a murder spree as well." She whispered before drawing back the bow. "Still, I wish to make some sort of addition to the pile." With that she released her hold and the silver arrow went flying straight into the chest of a plump female who had been running away. Raine had judged good for the female was single and had no babe to take care of.

Turing his attention back to his kill he skillfully sheathed his daggers and pulled out a smaller knife.
Working with skill and ease, gained from many years of hunting, Char gutted the dead doe.
Picking out the choice pieces he wrapped them in some large leaves and placed them in his hunting bag.
Pocketing the small knife he turned back to Tzipora tail still wagging.
"Are we sorting meat here or taking it away? Carrying the whole thing instead of in pieces." his tone was happy as he stood next to his kill wagging his tail like a fool
