Suddenly, Ryuko turned. A vampire had jumped out of nowhere and knocked Ryuko back. Ryuko fell on to the ground hard, but recovered quickly. His face looked up and red eyes glowed. His shades were broken.
Ryuko quickly shot the vampire in the abdomen to gain some ground. Ryuko reached into his cloak and grabbed a new pair of shades.
"Vampires," he growled, "So they asked for it..."

They had walked off probably right into the next ambush point. He assumed that they would do that not bothering to check to make sure that the bullets had actually worked. The back was a tricky place to shot with something that can break.
The spine, ribs, and the shoulder blades were the most likely locations for a bullet to hit and each of them could break the needle rendering the tranquilizer almost useless. Most of those bullets had landed in one of those areas. What didn't was enough to knock him out, but the duration would only be up to thirty minutes considering the amount that could be loaded into a bullet.
So as he laid in his near sleep state it was decided that his usefulness had ran its course.

"I knew it was vampires," said Kaki, "but why can't I smell him, or could I hear him until he was right upon us?"
Just then several more popped out from the bushes. He quickly pulled out his rosary and began some catholic prays. He wasn't catholic but those always seemed to work the best. It did little but daze the vamps but it was enough for Kaki to start slicing them. One by one each fell until they were all vanquished.

Ryuko reloaded his revolver. A vampire writhed and tried to grab Ryuko, but was shot in the heart quickly.
"Pathetic," said Ryuko, kicking the vampire, "Is that all they can afford?"
He stared at Stonewall.
"What about him?" Ryuko pointed.

"Perhaps we should try and break the spell," said Kaki. He then pulled out from his pack the rather large book that Solice had given him nearly a thousand years ago at The Adaline Trials.
Kaki knelt near Stonewall's limp body. He quickly opened it to possession spells.
"According to this, an anti-possession spell is nearly impossible," said Kaki grimly. "The best way to break it is by killing the one who cast it, or to get the one who casted it to release him. There is another way, but it would require cutting his chest open while he is awake. I wish Solice was here, but he is too busy spending his retirement on Catalpa Island."

"Geez, that old geezer!" cursed Ryuko, as he reached into his cloak. He grabbed Stonewall. Ryuko pulled out a syringe from his cloak and put it in Stonewall's neck. He then finished the injection and put the syringe back in his cloak.
"Safety precautions," said Ryuko, "I put in more sedative drugs in him. It should prolong his dreams for a little more longer."
He pulled out his cell phone, "Does he have a phone?"

"Ha," laughed Kaki loudly, "I don't have a cell phone and I'm only 1035 years old. He is over 11,000. Your generation is certainly tech savvy. You should be careful not to overdoes him. We may need him awake if we fail in killing his oppressor."

Ryuko, lifting up Stonewall's unconcious body with some difficulty, sighed and said, "Does he live far away?"

"Catalpa Island is nearly 5 hours by automated transportation. I guess that it is far. Do you suppose that we should go visit him instead of climbing the mountain?" asked Kaki as if at a loss.

It would be more than possible to send yet another group at them, but they would simply be slaughtered. For now it was best to leave them be and with luck they would end up killing the person they sought to help.
For now it was best to regroup and plan more defenses. The ones they had currently would prove to be no trouble for two as skilled as them. That was until they reached the base where the elite fighters were located.

Seeing as Ryoku did not answer, Kaki made the decision. "Let's go to Durem, and from there we can take a transport to Gambino then take public transport to Catalpa. If we do otherwise, I fear we will fail. What do you think of my plan?"

A pair of eyes watches the three men carefully. It was not one of the many servants of whomever this land belonged to, but it still wasn't something that could be viewed as a friend. It didn't like Slayers or most of the beings he had met at all.
It doesn't seem to be preparing for the attack, but rather watching and waiting. He wanted to see if these were the people he was looking for.

"Alright no problem," said Ryuko. He walked back to the place where he suddenly appeared and pulled out a black sleek motorcycle with three passenger seats.
Ryuko flipped his keys and got on the motorcycle.
"Climb in," Ryuko beckoned.

No doubt the limp body of "Stonewall" would be put into one of the sidecars. Not that he would mind, he was on borderline consciousness let alone tranquilized. Knowing Kaki he had some brilliant plan to get him out of this situation. Sad thing was of course that he wasn't possessed, still how could Kaki know all the hints were pretty much the same as being a vampire.
It seemed as if they were going somewhere. He could follow, but with whatever that thing was they would probably lose him. Still this was the only lead Vic had (that wasn't trying to kill him anyway).
