Nivriti shivered, dazed for a moment after Althalus had nibbled her. She blinked, looking slightly bashful and gave him a grin.
'Well I am glad that it isn't much farther to go, but I do like the thought of the privacy part.' she said, her words flirtatious. It seemed that everytime Althalus made a little affectionate gesture, her thoughts became a tad - well animalistic was the most lady-like way of thinking about them.
'Well not because of my legs, but we're here at your home, and because of that I won't want to move. I told you, this will be precious to me, because it is to you. And of what I've seen so far, I like it very well for my own reasons. It is a beautiful area.'
Nivriti had described it as thus before seeing the grove that he had spoken of. That took her breath away though.
'I am surprised you ever left here! It's wonderful, thank you for bringing me here,' her voice was full of emotion. She couldn't imagine a prettier location to grow up into, and she could see in her mind's eye an image of a orangey red colt playing around here. 'It's a wonderful place to raise a family, I can see why your parents must have picked it.'

Nivriti had no idea of the restraint Althalus forced himself to make while around her. He was no savage but he certainly was no shy stallion green behind the gills either. His life experience had given him extended company of a mare or two in his lifetime, but no face in his past stirred him in quite the same way. Things weren't to be rushed and were to be handled with utmost care. So precious was Nivriti to Althalus that he wanted nothing more than her happiness and joy.
Ever nuzzle, every kind word or smile was nothing more than a gift form the spirits. The luckiest stallion in the world was he, and the sunset male refused to jeopardize his new position. But, boys would be boys after all, and though he doubted Nivriti realized it, she often placed him in a horribly uncomfortable position. Her scent was hypnotic, her touch overwhelming. . . .
And Althalus didn't dare mention it.
Stallions were often placed in a poor light and he didn't want to give his love of loves the wrong impression. That wasn't why he was with her, and most certainly not why he had brought her up to the foothills and mountains. There was more to their relationship than a physical attraction as proved during their journey, something Althalus cherished and wouldn't change for the world.
Althalus wasn't dense and picked up on her flirtation easily. His stomach twisted slightly, but he ignored it, silver eyes glowing with boyish mirth. "You'll like it even more by the end of this week, I assure you, m'love." Did he just say that?
Yes. Yes he did. Utterly shameless.
So much for being a gentleman. Chuckling lightly, he moved over and offered her another affectonate nuzzle, adding in a more serious tone, "Company, m'dear, shall be completely under your command. We can go out, we can stay in, truly the time spent here is up to your wish and rule. Whatever you desire, just say the word and it shall be done." If Nivriti didn't how exactly how wrapped around her hoof she had him, Althalus had a suspicion she would find out quickly. Her wish was his command thru and thru.
It pleased the stallion thoroughly as Nivriti got to see a part of the woodlands he considered home. He couldn't help but beam proudly at her reaction, and he glanced around happily at the environment. "Much of my foalhood was raised within a cave not far from here, as well near lands a bit north and further up in the hills. But this little abode was a lovely discovery in spring time, and a personal favorite of mine." Oh, how he was pleased. . . so far she seemed to like where they'd be staying!
Family.
The thought made him wonder exactly what changes might have taken place within his own family. What of Killian and Ambroise and Adara? Did they have families of their own? New loved ones in their life, little ones to raise? Nivriti and he had only just begun their life together. Where exactly would the path they now journeyed take them?
Ah. . . but he had the rest of his life to figure such a thing out. Well. . .they were here. Now what? . . . who cared! They had all the time in the world and surely there was no rush. Althalus would take the rest of their afternoon and evening in stride. . . right now, tough, he wanted to give Nivriti time to acclimate herself to the new surroundings.

Nivriti was an innocent, she'd met stallions, but that was it. She knew of the technicalities from her mother, Aishwarya always felt that knowledge was better than ignorance, especially in the ways of interaction between male and females. So everything she felt was instinct born by the intensity of her feelings for Althalus, and were a little overwhelming at times.
She supposed that when, and only when the time was right, they would secrete themselves away somewhere completely private, and they would take that step that led to...and here her nose flushed a little, even before he replied. Children? And happiness she hoped. How silly that she was embarrassed by her own thoughts!
She blushed even deeper at his words, and gave a little nod. 'That's a promise is it?' she managed to say, trying to sound assured about herself.
'I just want to stay with you, show me all your favourite haunts, the places you went to be by yourself, exactly where you came into this world. Show me the cave at some point? I want to see it all.' she looked around, again taking in the serenity of their surroundings.
'Is your family close by, or been through here recently?' she asked, looking at him once more, but she was really thinking What's my pet name for him?. She couldn't think of one adequate enough for him. She hoped that her lack of one for him didn't make Althalus think she adored him any less than he seemed to for her.

Althalus couldn't help but smile, silver eyes shining. Giving his head a little shake, blowing his bangs out of his face for the millionth time, the stallion recaptured her gaze. Leaning over, he craned his neck over her own, thoroughly content. There was nothing more he could ask for, not with Nivriti present in his life.
"It is a guarantee," he added, a gentle tease in his voice. He wouldn't ever pressure her to do anything she didn't feel, regardless of his own wishes. It wasn't easy being a stallion, especially a particularly affectionate one, but Althalus would make do. Lust wasn't the name of the game, not this time around. . . So long as he stayed in her heart he was content. It was her company he enjoyed above everything else and he wouldn't sacrifice that for the world.
Swishing his tail lazily behind him, still quite content with his neck draped over her own, Althalus listened to her speak. He was surprised by her fervent desire to see everything about his home; really, he had hoped that she might be interested in meeting his parents but that was about it. The fact she did want to know all the fine details was a bit surprising. He wasn't really used to having such a devoted fan. But it was pleasant, and endeared her even more to him.
"Oh Nivriti," he chuckled, pawing at the ground in almost a bashful manner. Lifting his head from hers, his grin was genuine and directed solely for her. "How did I get so lucky as to meet you?" He couldn't help it, she had to know how he felt. He wasn't abashed at admitting such adoration, especially when she caught him off guard. "Feat not, m'dear, I will show you everything. You'll be sick of all the sights come the end of our stay I'm almost sure of it~!" There were so many places he could take her. . . but where to begin?
Family was first on the list - that he refused to wait upon. Yes, he was a little selfish and wanted to reunite with Yei and Grencia (as well as check up on his three other siblings). That would happen soon, as soon as they had rested and grazed a bit. Besides, his parents were travelers, protectors of their grove - who was to say they weren't off and out and about? It might very well be a fight to locate them . . . .
Thankfully though, Nivriti's question harbored a fortunate response. Stepping away from her, he sniffed at the wind, hoping to gather a familiar scent. Silver eyes lit and he gave a happy laugh, pleased by the familiarity that greeted him. "They've passed near her, if not at the grove itself. It's a faint scent, but I know they can't be too far." If he was lucky one of them had stayed back at the grove. "We'll find out exactly how close soon, m'love." Anxious as he was the stallion wasn't going to push anything.
They had no where else to go this night. Besides which, they had finally had a permanent break to their extensive travel.

Nivriti wondered if everyone felt like this when they were with someone they felt great affection for. The gentle press of Althalus's neck on hers felt not really like a weight, but more of a security, a touch that made her feel that she wasn't alone, and would never have to feel alone anymore. Ever. Maybe it wouldn't always feel so idyllic, maybe there would be disagreements, quarrels over silly and serious issues.
'I'm the lucky one, silly.' she chided Althalus sweetly. 'Which I keep telling you, and myself. If I could pinch myself I would, still think I'm floating along in a blissful dream.' she blushed again
'That sounded so corny!' she laughed at herself. 'But I won't be, I might come to find the place familiar, and comforting, but I would never find myself fed up with being here. It's too tranquil an area.'
Nivriti merely nodded at his words, suddenly feeling as though there was a whole meadowful of butterflies in her stomach. They were nearby, or in the area, and were likely to return soon.
'What if..?' she began, but couldn't bring herself to finish the sentence. He'd tried to reassure her before, but there really was no way of knowing if his parents would approve until she met them.
'No never mind..I don't want to think that at all.' she said, looking at him and smiling through her nerves.

They were gone. Killian remained with his uncle, her daughter had spread her wings and taken flight, Althalus had wandered off to explore the world and now the last of her children had left. He had of course left to take the trial prepared for him since birth but that didn't make his mother feel any better.
Even her mate had fluttered off!
Ah, she could have been terribly angry with them all or perhaps she could have felt a tad neglected that certain children hadn't come to visit her but honestly...she wasn't. On the contrary, she was happy that they had found freedom and in her opinion no news generally meant good news. Provided that her little darlings were safe and enjoying the world that was all she could ask for.
Nevertheless, this didn't stop her from carefully considering what she could do with her free time! She couldn't deny that she desired more children and with all her children now grown it would be the perfect time. Even her mate had agreed with her on this but even then she had how many months to wait to birth them? Really, she needed another hobby or twenty to keep herself occupied - you could only watch the mountains for so long when there were a number of your herd on patrol.
Therefore it was of no surprise that she found herself wandering aimlessly across the slopes this afternoon. Knocking at the grasses lightly with her hooves, she paused every now and again to admire and inspect various flowers and creatures before continuing but as of yet she hadn't found anything she wasn't already aware of.
Flowers she had seen.
Local creatures? Yes, those too.
Give her something -
She paused abruptly as the oddly familiar scent (mingled with the scent of another) caught her nostrils and she quirked a brow. Perhaps it was her imagination playing games with her, the sudden urge to seeing her children but she could have sworn that she had detected a scent very like her mate's. Admittedly it was somewhat different and dulled in comparison but...
Well it certainly wasn't Ambroise or Killian!
Canting her head to the side, she came to a halt and released soft whicker to test the air.

Althalus watched as his most beloved seemed to hesitate, to doubt herself. She didn't finish her statement but the stallion wasn't so dense as to be unable to finish it for her. Clucking his tongue lightly in a gentle reproach, the red haired stallion offered Nivriti a gentle nuzzle. "Come now, m'love, don't let such thoughts pull you down. You are perfect, you are wonderful, and I can't believe in the slightest that my parents are going to think any differently." He couldn't speak for them but he knew them and surely they couldn't be so cold as to be unaccepting of his choice in a companion.
Sure, it might be a bit of a surprise, certainly he hadn't expected to return home with a lady at his side! But life often threw curves when one least expected it. Althalus had been prepared to discover a whole new world upon the horizon, but he never had expected to learn of love.
"When they see you, and when they see the way I look at you, let me tell you, dearest, they - - - " His ears pricked, his voice dropping.
Wait a minute. Had he just heard . . . . . ? Turning his head, nostrils flaring as he tested the air, the stallion felt his heart leap. Surely there had been a whicker, and a most familiar sound at that! Memories of his foalhood suddenly caused nostalgia to overwhelm the stallion; silly conversations, games, protection, love. . . . . Oh, that voice could only belong to one mare, one more just as precious to him as Nivriti!
"Oh Nivriti, we're in luck~!" He couldn't hide his sudden boyish excitement, his sudden desire to see his family. A neigh escaped him as he called out to Yei, not wanting her to move away while he was so close. Nuzzling Nivriti, nibbling softly upon her whithers, he calmed his excitement and made sure ot reassure Nivriti. "Come along love. . . My mother, Yei, isn't far." Sure that she was in tow (he'd never introduced the love his life ot his mother) he made his way out of the small grove and headed Yei's way, silver eyes seeking out the first touch of red against the green.

'No, that's you remember?' Nivriti replied in a self-deprecating manner but she did chuckle along with it.
'I am trying not to think about it, because I feel if I keep thinking it, I'll make it happen. But it's difficult, like trying not to think of, of, I don't know, a pink Soquili!' she giggled again.
'Well, I hope they can see how you feel for me, and how I feel for you..' she began, but she stopped, ears flicking forwards and her body going tense as Althalus stopped talking, her tail swishing hard as her nerves took hold.
'Luck?' she said faintly, forcing a happy look on her face. His mother! She was about to meet hs mother. Wasn't it always hard to meet the mother? It wasn't as if you could really charm her properly, you would always be the female that was taking a place in the son's heart. His touch to her withers was barely registered as she followed him, her heart roaring in her ears.

Yei hadn't expected to hear a reply, but the one she did receive confirmed all her suspicions and with a small smile on her lips she turned her gaze. This time, she had it planted in the perfect spot, positioned in accordance with where she had heard the whicker. Ah, though many may have flown the nest it was a delight to see that one had chosen to visit - had the spirits heard her plea?
She had always said that no news was good news, perhaps her son would have many stories to tell her. She would very much welcome them, anything to lift the weight off her shoulders for a few moments so that she could enjoy the return of one of her babes. It was a pity he had come at such a tense time but in her opinion, he had chosen the perfect moment...he'd come home when he was needed.
Shifting her weight from one hoof to the other, she continued to wait expectantly for the burnt orange stallion to appear over the mound. He had wandered off at such a young age that she wouldn't be surprised if he had dyed his coat! But all the same... She couldn't help but wonder why there was such an odd 'scent' in the air. She hadn't spotted anyone on her patrol and it didn't mingle together with her son's scent to the point that...
Oooh, maybe he'd brought a friend!
Maybe she could adopt them too, it seemed to be a habit of hers.

With Nivriti in two, Althalus guided his love out of the small grove and back in to the foliage of the foothills. Of course, the walk didn't take long and silver eyes quickly picked out the pinks and reds against the forest shades of green. Her scent was familiar and ever so comforting, even with age, and the red maned stallion only now felt a sense of homesickness.
For so long he'd thought fondly of his siblings and parents but the world had made it clear that he was meant to roam. But now, seeing her amidst the foliage, the stallion understood he'd stayed away for far too long.
Brushing up against Nivriti, as if assuring her that everything would be well, Althalus stepped ahead to great his mother. "Mom!" He held no shame in calling her exactly what she was - he would never get too old to look upon his parents with the same devotion and awe he had as a young colt. Though he was much, much bigger, he was still a bit of a a momma's boy at heart.
Wasting no time, he reached out to offer Yei a heartily affectionate nuzzle. She looked good and in seemingly good health . . . Althalus couldn't ask for more! "Oh, it's great to be back." He murmured in the embrace, still absolutely thrilled to be reunited. A million questions threatened to slip from his tongue, but he refused to bombard her with such things. For now he had something far more important to discuss. . .or at least introduce!
Stepping back, and not wanting to be rude, he cleared his throat. "Mother, I'd like you to introduce you to Nivriti. She's . . . " Well, what was she? A friend? Of course she was a friend. But were they mates? Sort of. . . that . . that was the plan. Or at the very least his plan. But was that term appropriate for their relationship thus far? Oh . . . crap. "She's very near and dear to me. . . " His voice dropped a bit, full of his joy.
His two most favorite ladies were going to meet.
Stepping back to Nivriti, he offered her a little nuzzle, as if to bring her forward, closer to Yei. "Nivriti, dearest, I'd like for you to meet one of the most wonderful soquili in the land; my mother, Yei." Ah, despite his coltish antics around his family he still harbored a silver tongue!

Nivriti jumped a little when Althalus called out to his mother for she had been following him but lost in her thoughts. She stood back when she saw the older mare, her graceful lines and vibrant colouration made Nivriti feel lumpen, and unremarkable. She was sure that the other would take one look at her and ask what Althalus was doing with her!
She glanced sidelong at him when he was introducing her to his mother, how would he do so? She supposed that it was too soon for him to be calling Nivriti his mate, she'd have liked to have heard it, but she supposed that would hinge somewhat on how this meeting went.
Nivriti moved forwards, on shaking hooves, and trying not to look as nervous as she felt, made an elegant bow to his mother, her wings opened as she dipped before Yei.
'I am honored to meet you.' she said, her head and eyes lowered to show due deference.

Ah, he still had that scent about him and it was with a bemused chuckle that Yei returned his nuzzle and affectionately embraced him for a few moments. However, his chatter and his companion had already caught her attention and while she was delighted to see her son again she was all the more intrigued by the visitor he had brought with him. She would have asked for an introduction but he had already beaten her to it.
Sort of...
Her smile grew ever more playful as her son stumbled over his own words. His expression uncertain and his words somewhat vague, it took everything in her power not to giggle at his discomfort. Clearly, her child was completely out of his depth and unaccustomed to the situation he now found himself in. Not that she blamed him, she had never had the good grace to meet Grencia's parents following their union but she could only imagine how she would have felt.
However if there was one thing Yei did not approve of it was beating about the bush and remaining vague about facts that were really quite obvious, especially to an outsider such as herself. Besides, she knew her children and that fidgeting couldn't get passed her unnoticed. Allowing the tension to 'rise' for a few moments as she pretended to inspect his companion, she raised a brow and developed a look of disdain.
"So she is your mate then, yes?" She enquired, her tone resembling that of a cool drawl. It wasn't the most lovely of responses but within moments the expression had vanished and her traditional and very recognisable smile appeared on her equine lips. Always one for games, she wasn't going to permit her bumbling son to think he had gotten off lightly!
"So how did you end up roping this hair ball?" She asked, turning her attentions to Nivriti. The grin still on her lips it was evident that all 'name calling' was done out of good humour as opposed to being malicious. "Really you are quite the belle, it is a wonder he managed to charm you at all!"

Althalus blinked as his mother hit the nail on the head so directly. Silver eyes stared at the figure of his mother, body still as the cogs of his mind tried to comprehend some sort of response. She was his mate, certainly, but somehow he had hesitated while explaining that to his mother.
. . . . son of a gun. On top of that he only too late figured that Nivriti couldn't be pleased by his bumbling. She was his mate, well and truly, so why did he freeze up when admitting such a truth to his mother?
Maybe it was just his mother, or the newness of the term. Dipping his head a bit, ears flattening in a moments irritation at himself, he decided to try to redeem his fumbling foolishness. Trotting around his mother, he headed back over to where Nivriti stand. "Yes, mother, she is my mate. And I truly am the luckiest stallion to have found her." Unabashed he nuzzled Nivriti's cheek, making a note to apologize to her soon as Yei took her leave. He nibbled lightly upon her cheek before turning back to see what his mother would do. . .
Picking on him seemed the order of the day, but at least Yei didn't seem disappointed in his choice. Not that he thought she might be, or that Nivriti was anything less than stunning. . . "My mate," he murmured lowly, more to himself and only for Nivriti's ears. She was, and he wanted both his mother and her to know more than ever that he was proud in that choice!

Nivriti almost found it amusing how blunt Yei was; almost, but she was still feeling very nervous, much too nervous to do more than a small smile. Would he correct his mother? Were they there yet in his mind? In Nivriti's they were, she thought of herself as that attached to Althalus because she could see no other way of being.
She jumped a little, realising that Yei had addressed her, and she quickly answered; 'Oh no, I am so very plain against yourself, your son is a compliment to his father and to you.' she smiled then, trying to relax.
'And I got lucky I guess.' she looked over at Althalus, her expression softening and all trace of nerves leaving her. Really, she should just trust in him from now on. The meeting seemed, after all, to be going well. Just how lucky she was became more evident when Althalus confirmed what his mother had said, rejoining Nivriti's side and repeating it in a low enough tone that she suspected only she heard it.
'Althalus..' she whispered back, her nose darkening with her blushes. 'You've no idea how happy you've made me.' she nudged him with her nose and then looked back at Yei, a proper smile on her face.

"His father!" Yei gasped as though she was utterly appalled at him being compared to his father. That being said the glint had never left her eyes and she soon gave a giggle. A light shake of her head and she released a small sigh that was clearly littered with happiness. "Really darling, you must see that my darling baby boy takes after me!" she announced before leaning towards the pair and flashing a grin.
"Although he does take after his father on what he used to do as a baby," she teased softly. "Clamping his mouth around tails and letting everyone drag him round," she rolled her eyes at this before giving a toss of her mane to clear her vision. It was during this time that she really did place the pair together and began to assess them as a couple - in terms of compatibility it worked well and while they were young the affection they demonstrated towards one another was evident.
"But darling you should never call yourself plain," she returned to the subject at hand, her expression becoming solemn. "You are a fine young mare and you have a figure to die for!" She gave another of her smiles and shifted her weight from one hoof to the other. "However I am interested about one thing..."
"Was he at least romantic in his proposal to become your life mate? If not I'll be terribly disappointed."
