Paying Adrian's pathetic noises no attention, Evie gave Amryx a confused look.
"Back home? You're not from the city, then? I've lived here all m'life, and I've never seen anythin' like this before."
She gestured at Ana, who laughed.

"Uh..." Hm, how should she put this? Somehow, she didn't think dimension crossing was a very common thing in Midori.
"Oh, I can answer that," Adrian laughed, leaning forward now and putting his elbows on the table.
"Adrian, hush."
"She's from another world, some world called Gaia. Over there, all sorts of weird things happen, and she apparently got framed for a murder. They're very harsh when it comes to crime there, and she was probably going to get the death sentence for that, so she had to have some redhead and her sister bring her to another world to avoid it. And then she ended up breaking that burner, so that's how she's still stuck here."
"ADRIAN!"
"Well, it's true!" The Scent scoffed, leaning back now into his chair. "You always whined about that when I was still stuck in the oil. Don't think I don't remember."
It was hard to trust Adrian, of course, but there was some strange sort of honesty in the Scent's expression that didn't make it seem like he was lying.

Evie looked fascinated.
"Hmm. Sucks about the frame job, but that's pretty neat," she said, taking another sip of coffee.
Ana nodded her agreement.
"You must be lonely without your family," she said, looking sympathetic. "You can't go home at all?"
Clearly, neither girl was particularly weirded out by the notion they were talking to someone from another world. Huh. Go figure.

"..." Amryx's jaw almost dropped. They didn't think this was weird? She figured that they might have been humoring Adrian, but Anastasia seemed too sincere when she asked Amryx if she missed her family. Well, maybe it wasn't as uncommon as she thought.
"Uh, not really. I mean..." Amryx tried to think of a way to phrase that her life on Gaia was really no better than her life here, but as always, Adrian had to butt in when Amryx had no words.
"She complains about it, but she knows that life here is as good as it's gonna get. Amryx didn't have friends or family," He smirked, knowing Amryx couldn't protest as, once again, he was completely right. "So don't waste any of your sympathy on her."
"It'd be better without you, but... it's true, I have more here now than I did back there."

"If you interrupt again, I will not hesitate to jump over this table and burn your eyes out of your skull," Evie said to Adrian mildly, chewing a morsel of muffin. "I was talking to Amryx. So, keep your trap shut."
She turned to Amryx, expression kind.
"Speedbumps aside, I'm glad you're fitting in alright," she said. "If you need company, you can drop by my place, me an' Ana are always around."

"She didn't answer, so I answer for her. I didn't say anything that wasn't true," Adrian grumbled back, but he made sure to slide his chair back just a little bit farther back. He definitely didn't doubt her intentions now.
"No, it's been fine. Actually, I can't believe that you believe me," Amryx admitted point blank, ignoring Adrian. He did, after all, tell the truth. Although she didn't know how he could remember things that she "told" him when he was still oil.
"But, I hope we can have coffee again! It's nice, actually talking to people who aren't tripped up or stoned."
Ahh, the hippie coven.

Evie nodded and smiled as Amryx spoke, ignoring Adrian completely.
"Hey, it's a strange world," she said easily. "These things happen."
She actually laughed at Amryx's comment, and one could tell it was something she hadn't done for a long while.
"Well, glad to be of service. In fact, lemme...Ana, gimme your napkin."
Evie scribbled her address and phone number and handed it to Amryx.
"Anytime you want, gimme a ring or just come over," she said. "We can all use a little civilized company once and a while."
She and Ana got up to go, nodding and murmuring their goodbyes. Evie paused and put a hand on Adrian's shoulder, bending down to mutter in his ear.
"And if you ever upset Ana again, I will tase your tiny gonads off. Nice to meet you, Adrian."

Amryx had to laugh at how Adrian almost flung himself out of the chair when Evie touched him. It was nice, to see someone be able to actually instill fear in the boy. She decided to use Evie as a threat to help control that boy.
"Thank you. I'll let you know when I'm off, sometime." Amryx nodded. Friends! She had actual friends, and friends who actually had Scents! Maybe staying in the shop was finally paying off for something.
Once they were out of earshot, she turned and looked at Adrian, who only stared back with a furious expression on his face.
"... You are not seriously thinking of befriending that barbarian of a woman, are you?!"
"I think I'll invite her over for dinner next Tuesday."
"YOU HORRIBLE PERSON!"
