Exodus's violet eyes widened in a mixture of surprise, happiness, shock, and anger flickered across her face and through her eyes in rapid succesion. Ryu. What was he doing here? She would've smiled if she could've. But, she didn't want him to get hurt. By staying with her or near her, he was in constant danger! She wriggled out from under neith him, turning away from him in favor for staring at the moon.
"Go home, Ryu. I live alone."
She sounded as though she was about to cry. A lump of bitter sadness and happiness had welled up in her throat, making it hard for her to swallow. It hurt her to see him again, and it would only torment her later. She had begun to get used to the idea of not ever seeing him again. But then, he had found her, successfully re-opening the wounds that she had tried so hard to close.

Ryu walked to where she now stood. "No, you don't. stop being silly and come back. Starrla misses you and I do too." he comforted. He wrapped his tail around hers. He wasn't about to give up. "Maybe you don't know this but..." he started to whisper. "When you left me my heart broke in two. Not just that, something worse. Without you I tried to kill myself. I would be dead right now if it weren't for Starrla. Maybe you don't understand..." He looked down. "I can't live without you. I understand you can go on without me, but I can't take it. It pains me when I think about it." he nuzzled her gently. "Please. Come back home. To me, to Starrla, to everyone. We care about you. If I can't have you, and you must understand this Exdous. If you leave" he whispered. "I am going to wait for you or die. I may die waiting, or I may try to kill myself again. But, I can't go on without you." Ryu was hurt, but he wasn't about to leave Exodus, he came too far.

Exodus sighed at this, momentarily allowing herself some happiness when he curled his tail around hers. It felt so good, so right that she couldn't believe that she had ever thought of possibly leaving this feeling behind. Then, she walked even closer to the edge of the platue, looking down and the now ten foot drop.
"Fine. I will come back with you. But the words and actions that have happened this day, no longer exist. They have not happened at all, and I do not see them happening in the near nor distant future."
She had basically told him this: 'You didn't tell me you loved me, and I didn't tell you that I hate you in return. Get it? Got it? Good.' And with that, she leapt off the edge of the cliff and was held there, suspended for a few seconds, wind blowing through her fur, before time caught up with itself, and she desended below the rim of the platue.
((Nearly caused you to have a heart-attack at this point, huh? Oops, sorry, Back to the story!!))
She sailed down to the ground, muddy water splashing every where when she had landed. She turned around and nodded to Ryu, his pale fur being illuminated by the moon's reflected light on the platue, then began heading towards Starrla's home.

Ryu sighed as well. "It's no use trying to hide the truth Exodus. I need you. I want you. You apparently don't want me. I get it. My feelings aren't returned. I wish they were, but I see they aren't. What happened today, happened. And yes, it's the past but we shouldn't try to lie or pretend it didn't happen. Starrla sure knows it happened." He got off the cliff by the safer route,that didn't include a deadly drop. He quickly raced to catch up with her as she walked home. "Look, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have let this go out of hand. I want you to be happy.." he sniffled. By the time he finished his sentence, he realized he had curled his tail around hers. He was also watching as the wind caressed her fur in the night. As Ryu looked up he saw that the two foxes were only of few steps from Starrla and Exodus's home.

Exodus sighed sadly. She had only listen to every other word that he had said, but that was enough for her to know his feelings for her would always stand. 'I hope that, one day, He'll finally give up on me, find a good female, and settle down. I want him to be happy too.'
She sighed, imagining......
'She saw a tall tree, in a glade. Ryu, an older him, played with two small kits.
One, a female, looked exactly like him, exept the eyes were an interesting shade of purple and the tips of her ears and tail were electric green. The other, a male, was magenta with white streaks where Ryu's were red and his paws were a shocking pink. One of his eyes were scarlet, the other, violet.
The kits tackled Ryu, sending him toppling over. They all laughed, smiling at one another. Out of the hollow, came another kit. This one, a female, was a neon green, with magenta zebra-stripes, and scarlet eyes. She was smaller then the other two, a runt. Another figure was emerging form the hollow-'
Exodus stumbled slightly, knocking out of her fantasies. She had only seen a flash of neon green and a reddish-purple color for the mother. She sighed again, realizing how close they were to the hollow and that the drizzle had stopped.
Starrla heard the sound of somethings approaching, and smiled to herself when she recognized the scents. She raced outside, beaming at Exodus.
"Welcome back."
"Yeah. Whatever."
Starrla and Exodus held eachother's gaze, something passing between them. Starrla nuzzled the disraught vixen, smiling to Ryu over her sister's shoulder.
"Stay with us tonight, Ryu."
It wasn't an invitation. It was a command.

"Well, I brought her back. Painfully so, but I did." He liked having Exodus around again, but nothing was the same anymore. He was still in love with her. And she still didn't return his love. Everything about her was so painful. That look in her eyes whenever he was around killed him inside. He liked Starrla, somewhat, but as a mother. He really wished she'd leave so they could talk. "Uh.. Starrla?" he spoke. "Do you think E-E-Exodus and I could talk? Ya know, alone?" he fumbled over her name. He wanted to know the real truth behind those words of hers. He wanted to know what she really thought. He longed to know what was going to happen in the future. Their future.

Starrla nodded to Ryu's statements, smiling motherly. "I think.........Exodus should choose what she wishes to do." , she stated quitely, looking at her adopted daughter/ sister lovingly. She wouldn't choose Exodus's path for her. It was time for her to feel more grown-up, as that was what she thought the vixen, hinting quite heavily, was really wanting.
Exodus looked up, looking tired and pitiful at the same time. She sighed, as if the world was taking another hit at her, another swing of the bat against her already battered and bruised soul and mind. She looked at Ryu, blinking in a slight surprise, then squinting against his brillance.
His milky cream colored fur shone a dazzling white in the moonlight. His rubian eyes were wide and anxious, loving her had done that to them. Tears began to well in her eyes, and she turned away from the seemingly heaven-summoned being.
She shook her head and walked into Starrla's home, disappearing from sight. She loved him, wanted him, needed him, but would not allow herself to shame him with her visable and pathectic returned affection.

Ryu angrily pounded the ground. "GRRR!" It was him against the odds, and the odds scored themselves another point. He didn't necessarily care about the so called game that he was losing. He cared most about Exodus. He had come to far to give up. His normal calm self was full of anger and determination. He pounded the ground again and again, his screams turning to sobs. He sat down and swished his tail. The soft movement against the ground sent dirt into the air. Slowly, he stood, turned, and walked to the house. He stopped at the door, looking back at Starrla. His eyes floated to the moon, imagining what could've been. Then he walked through the doorway, and turned quietly towards Exodus. "Please." He was still sobbing. "Why can't we just talk?" he cried, burying his face. "It's all my fault. I shouldn't have told her I loved her." He said, talking to himself. "Everything wouldn't have happened. Curse my stupidity!" He collapsed in front of Exodus. He didn't stop sobbing even then. He had thought there was no way he could win the game. Starrla seemed to side with Exodus. In a way, they were "the odds".
Lela stumbled across the roots of the big tree. She followed her adopted brother here. A scent she didn't recognize overshadowed his. She turned the corner, trying to find him. She ran into a giant Modifox. Starrla wasn't really that big, but to the young kit, she definitely was. She looked at the gold paws, all the way up, finally seeing Starrla's face.

Exodus blinked in shock, staring down at the sobbing mess that was Ryu. She quietly circled around him, and lay down the same way Starrla had when she had been trying to comfort him earlier that day, except her tail instinctaully curled around his. She gently nuzzled his cheek, whispering words of comfort. For the time being, away from the prying eyes and grabbing hands of the world above, the old, loving Exodus had resurfaced.
Starrla sighed sadly. Was there no end to the hardships the two young lovers had to face?! She jerked slightly when she felt something bump into her leg. She looked down and saw a little ball of black fur with startlingly bright silver eyes staring up at her. She finally identified it as a female Modifox kit, and smiled kindly at it.
"Why, hello there. And what might your name be?"

"STOP! Stay like this. Don't go back to what you were earlier. Just stay like this. Forever..." he blushed. He calmed himself. "Now. I would like to know something. Just exactly what happened today? Everything. I don't like not knowing things. Especially if they concern you. Now, I want to know everything in detail. Starting from when you ... caught me staring at you." He stretched and lay back down. Ryu seemed to argue with himself. "Not now," he whispered. "Not yet." He didn't mean for Exodus to hear, but she did. He had told himself not to kiss her right there, right then. He didn't want to ruin things, but he had wanted to kiss her for a LONG time.
"My name's Lela!" she smiled sweetly. She sniffed Starrla, then sneezed soon after.

Exodus blinked and looked away, sadness filling her heart again, her muscles automatically tensing. She closed her eyes, trying to shut out the world once more, only to find that she couldn't. "I.....I don't wanna talk about it..." , she stated, nearly choking on the worlds, tears beginning to form in her eyes.
Starrla blinked in surprise at the kit's sweet nature, then smiled warmly. Her attitude was so very different to the Emo that she had become accustom to, it was almost refreshing to know that there were different personalities in the world.
"Hello Lela! My name is Starrla.", she stated softly, nuzzling the young one's cheek. She looked and around, searching for any adult Modifoxes around. Puzzled when she could find none, she turned her attention back to Lela. "Where are your parents?" , she asked quietly.

"Please. I feel like you've been lying to me. Trust me today wasn't hard on just you. I think it was worst for me. Hey, I almost died out there. But, if you don't want to, at least explain what we're gonna do about us." He couldn't stop himself from discussing this with her.
"I don't know. My mommy is... I don't know where she is. I followed Ryu here!"

Exodus blinked at him, startled by his words. He had almost died?! She narrowed her eyes, violet darkening to to near indigo. "You nearly died once." she stated darkly, giving him a cheeky glare.
"I've nearly died THREE times today! Once for that stupid branch, once when I almost became electricuted, and finally when I almost got squisherfied by some star-crossed tree! So, HA! Beat that, if you dare, Mister Floofy-Pants!!"
A note of hsyteria crept into her voice at the end, her eyes widening as she recounted how many times she could've lost her life that day.
Starrla frowned a bit when Lela stated that she didn't know where her mom was, looking around a tad. When Ryu came into the conversation, she tensed slightly.
"Your brother is....... in a meeting with a very special person right now. He.....He asked me to take you somewhere and keep you safe and entertained.", she stated kindly, smiling kindly. Well, it wasn't really a big fib!

Ryu as fed up. He stood and walked to somewhere else in the room, and sat down.
He glared and hoped she wouldn't come to where he was. But he kind of wished she would. "Please, can we figure out what's going to happen to us?" he spoke from the lighted corner. He stared off for a moment. Almost as if daydreaming. He blinked a few times letting tears fall.
"Oh. He is?" Lela cocked her head slightly. "I didn't know that" She smiled. "Ok, so where are we gonna go?" She jumped up and down wagging her tail excitedly.

Exodus was taken aback by Ryu's reaction, blinking back a few tears herself. As she had only been kindding to attempt to lighten the mood, she hadn't expected him to take her words seriously. She walked to the other side of the hollow, starring out a hole in the roots, where the bright moon-light shone through, unknowly sitting in the little puddle of light. She sighed again, closing her eyes.
"We can't be together, Ryu.......... I don't want to see you get hurt because of me."
Starrla smiled motherly down at the young kit. She had spirit, sweetness, and innocence. Which probably was the reason Ryu still allowed her to follow him around. "Hmmmmmm....... What do you know about Firefly catching?", she asked, a sly look upon her face and a mischievious twinkling in her golden eyes.
