Aurum canted her head thoughtfully. She really did not know what to say or even think about that. Then her attention was diverted to the ultrapet & thankfully she did not have to. Or have time to anymore. She was giggling.
"Too bad we didn't think to make a guardian sized game -Fluffy's better than both of us combined!"

"I know!" He laughed. "It would work out if he was his old size though." The ultrapet chirped at the slightly forlorn look that had settled on Josh and he managed a smile. He wished he didn't need to be reminded so much of his previous life.

Aurum continued to giggle, even while wondering what Fluffy's old size was. The chirp caught her attention though & drew her away from giggles as she saw her friend's face. She knew that face. Her father had it even though his brother Alphonse & their friend Winry were here because he did not see them enough. Gr-daddy too, when he thought of his missing friends or not seeing Ember & Sirius as much as he would like either.
Leaving the game with its flashing after game screen the winged female hopped down from her game to reach into his and comfortingly nuzzle Josh's neck. She stayed quiet for a while. Really... what could she say?

Surprisingly, Josh didn't jerk away from the nuzzle. He was getting a bit used to this kind of contact, and after all, it was nice. It was after a while before an awkward blush crossed his features and he lifted up a paw to pat Aurum's head lightly. "Thanks." He said quietly, managing a smile.
"It's not that I'm unhappy here, really. I met some nice people here...Emo Boy; Wade can be pretty okay at times, just don't tell him that." He paused and smiled at her. "And then there's you. It's like having a little sister I never had." He had been an only child, after all.

Her face lit up warmly at his thanks, glad to be of help to her friend. That Josh patted her head not making her feel patronized at the least, though she did wonder to his blush. There was a giggle from the smaller female as he mentioned Xanul by nick-name, and even more of one as he said her cousin Wade could be okay knowing how he often complained about the mercenary.
Then happy warmth as she was mentioned. Nothing funny, just happiness. "I like that! I'll be your little sister for as long as you want, Josh!" Her smile turned playfully teasing and she gave his hair a sisterly touch. Then winked. "As long as we're always friends too."
That was very important her her, Josh being her first friend.

He was coming to accept his friends here, and grudgingly, Wade as well. Though he would never, ever admit that Wade was a friend of his. An aquiantance. Just that.
"Really?" He was surprised, and tails wagged happily. "You know, I'm an only child. Never had any siblings and all, so it's new to me." But it was a nice feeling, having a little sister like Aurum. He smiled back at her. "Of course, we'll always be friends, you silly goose." His tone was light and teasing, and Josh felt much better. His new life was coming along just fine.
Maybe it wasn't so bad landing up here after all.

His tails... were wagging! It made Aurum feel warm & tingly all over with happiness. She giggled. Silly goose. Her smile and eyes were bright from the gentle tease and more that Josh could feel he could tease her that way. A hint of her soft sadness that he had been an only child, but that she could understand. After all, Trelweny's son Theron was an only child. So was her gr-daddy Remus, if you listened to his tales of 'before' he was a kitsusagi. Just because kitsu were born in litters, Aurum knew others were not. As Josh was not.
More giggles and the white furred girl playfully bumped her shoulder & head into her friend's shoulder & neck respectively. "Good! Now..." Her eyes twinkled. "There's a lot of games still to get to before we can fly again!"

He laughed. "Of course!" For a moment, he blinked, confused. "Fly?" He echoed. Blue eyes shifted to stare at Aurum's wings and he gave a sheepish smile. "Oh yeah, fly! Sheesh, I'm getting muddled up."
Maybe it was because he was hanging around Wade so much? Wade's mind to him was pretty messed up...but there weren't such things as brainwaves that could influence one another right?

Green eyes blinked a bit, head tilting in confusion trying to figure out what Josh was staring at. When it did dawn on her, Aurum blushed slightly and giggled then resettled her wings with a sheepish look on her face. "Oh! It's not you! I could have said that so much better! But I couldn't fly you anyway... I wouldn't have the strength what with you being bigger than me. We could ask Uncle Aear sometime if you'd like though. He's an angelic kitsu so he's bigger than most normal kitsusagi." Another giggle. "I'm almost more Bobtail sized."
There was no hint of her size bothering her. But then... she was a girl. It was understandable for a girl to be smaller.
"Puzzle games?" She reminded teasingly, bringing a tail around to bap him gently.

He laughed. "I wasn't expecting you to fly me anyway." It wasn't a mean comment on her size, it was just that, honestly, he couldn't imagine a winged kitsusagi giving a full grown one a ride.
"Whassa bobtail?" He blinked. Aurum was one of the only girls he had met, so Josh assumed others to be about her size. Besides, boys were supposed to be bigger, right?
"Oh? Alright. I'm not very good at chess though." He smiled.

Maybe not... but Aurum was almost disappointed she couldn't, thinking that not only would it be fun but she would like to see how her friend would enjoy a flight. He would probably freak out at a broomstick. Not usually the best of ideas to get a muggle on a broomstick anyway. Besides... being able to fly riding a broomstick was not exactly something Aurum had bothered to learn -even with the adaptations that had been made for four-legged wizards. She would rather watch Quidditch than play.
A casual if thoughtful look at Josh's question. "Bobtails? Oh... they're just like a sub-species of kitsusagi. Like Shoom is a different species of kitsu -you've probably seen him around the Place. Only bobtails aren't as different from us. They're just smaller. Well than you. They're not that much smaller than I am. They're pretty easy to pick out because not only are they small, their tails are very short." Sad sympathy touched her face. There was more to her sadness than simply being sorry for the bobtails lacking the softness and warmth of longer tails, but the full story of the bobtails was much too long and much to dark to go into right now. Bopping Josh's shoulder with her head the small femme smiled.
"Do you have to be good at something to play it?" Aurum asked cutely, her head tilting ever so faintly -just enough her bangs shifted. Then she smiled. "If you like action I bet you'd like Wizard's Chess better. But we can try that later."
Pause. "Is chess the only puzzle game?"

There were more aliens? He still thought of them as so, despite being told otherwise. There was no proof that his theory wasn't wrong anyway. Even though many others from past lives had wound up here, Josh still wasn't very sure if he believed it. He still went along with it, but harbored a small hope that he would get back to Galaxy High eventually.
"Well I'm kinda smaller than Wade. And Emo boy." It was probably because he was technically a teenager, just, as what Wade said, "in an adult body". Or something along those lines.
"Not really..." He smiled. "But...what's wizard's chess?" Curiosity alighted upon his features.
He swallowed awkwardly. "Well, it's just that...I only kinda remember chess, cause Brett usually plays puzzle games. Chess...was one of the games he played when we went to that horrible arcade. Yoko was kidnapped and put into the game just because she beat it." It wasn't a good memory, but it ended well, at least.

Aurum giggled, her expression perhaps a little more distant -on some far-off thought- than normal. "But you are still bigger than me, and have all your tails." Which she proceeded to playfully paw at -simply batting a few times.
Pause. Green eyes went wide. In everything she had heard around home... that was not one of them. "She was put into a game?!?" Wide eyes flicked to the dance game, remembering Josh saying more than once that those were the one's Yoko liked the most. Eeep. Being trapped in a game like that would be terrible! Then she smiled, shifting to bop the underside of his chin happily. "I'm just glad you got out!"
She was too. That was apparent in her body language. Now she was smiling for a different reason though, remembering her friend's look of interested curiosity. "But you asked about wizard's chess. It has the same rules and moves as regular chess really, but instead of moving the pieces you tell them where to go and they move on their own. Rather like a video game I guess. But when they take another piece, they bash it to smithereens!" The petite femme got excited at this, making a motion as she spoke like someone taking a sword or an ax and chopping forcefully through their opponent before grinning up at Josh to see his reaction, gold dipped tails wagging.

"I guess." He said thoughtfully, then watched her paw at his tails as he moved them from side to side.
"Yeah." He grinned. "It wasn't very easy though." He would rather be trapped in a game then try to get someone out of it. It hadn't been easy distracting Yoko by trying to beat her at her forte.
"Don't you...lose pieces that way?" It sounded interesting enough, and he was sure, if Brett was here, he would certainly be delighted with it and request to examine every piece, and even the chessboard.

She gave a thoughtful smile and nod, as if to say ‘yes, I can imagine it wasn’t easy’ with both a pride that he had succeeded and also a gratefulness that in his quest it was not like that of her father’s and uncle’s. It hurt so much to hear that tale –even with the bits of levety within- Aurum wished nothing even close to it upon anyone else.
Playfully she tapped Josh’s nose with a white gloved paw, sticking just the tip of her tongue out between front teeth before answering. “Well sure! But then you get them back at the end of the game when the permanent ‘reparo spell kicks in. Wouldn’t be much use if you had to get a new set every time you wanted to play, would it?”
